  • Got some flowers planted, how about you?

I (we, David helped)... got the geraniums planted outside today... I had brought them in , potted ,and set on the big windowsill in the bedroom... they bloomed and stayed alive all winter....now they are back outside.....took the empty pots and put the New dark red geraniums that Karens' got me for Mothers day..they hang on the post.... so my summer flowers are started!....

have any of you started the outside work yet?...

I bet they are beautiful, Janet. No flowers here. In fact the yard guys were here and took out some plants that didn't survive the deep freeze we had in January. I did go to Lowes later and got a Texas Ranger (sage) to plant in the place of one rose bush. Will have Bim help me plant it this weekend. It is a good plant for draught and has pretty lavender flowers in the spring.

No planting in the ground here.... Monica came and filled some lovely wicker baskets with annuals in the front under my picture window... we are doing roofing soon...and won't do any replanting in that area til after it is done. Just in case. We have nothing in the ground there now...except tulips that were still in the ground. Bricklayer took everything out when he repaired the brickwork...

Going to do baskets in the back....set on tables and hanging on fence.... Duke waters everything and they usually end up dead. So have to have high up plants he can't reach.

I should do that, Schmitty in front of one of my windows in the sun room. I think it would be pretty. Hmmmm, something to think about.

We have put some annuals in the pottery I got in TX. Wanted annuals so I can clean them out in the fall and put the pottery up so it doesn't get cracked in the winter. The guys are transplanting some of my day lilies in front of the deck and I have some other big pots I want to fill. That will be it for me. Can't take care of garden beds anymore so I am going to get what I want out of them and mow the rest. It frustrates the devil out of me, but I have to accept my limitations. If I don't my body reminds me real quick!

Yeah, the old bod does let us know, doesn't it?
I have a six-pack of Black Eyed Susan to put next to the Hollyhocks. Have two shade plants, Bugloss and Astilbe to go into what I hope becomes a shade border in front of the front porch. Sun never hits there even in mid summer so it gets ro be a shade border or nothing. I want a Japanese Painted fern to go in the and some Toad Lilies.
Still have some flowers to plant in the hanging baskets and my Oriental vegetables.
            Slowly but slowly.

Mickie,, your "water" dog...too bad it "ain't good stuff"..

like Jo... I had to eliminate some of the stuff that needed weeded ,water ...but I love flowers blooming in the yard..
I don't have any luck with potted ones...I tried but the roots just don't seem to get enough depth and they don't do well.

I have one big pot out front , will stick a couple of marigolds in it... its hard to kill a marigold..

Well I have potted stuff everywhere! Potted some herbs and flowers both and put them on the deck...some are in hanging planters. I enjoy the deck so much more now that there are plants around me! I guess I'll be a gardener at heart till I die.

I've got potted stuff everywhere that gets sun here, and we've planted about fifty square feet at Jess and Carla's. There are tomatoes and herbs there, as well.

Monday I pick up fifty pounds of asparagus to process. It's $1.25 lb., but it's the thicker type that I like, and very good.

No have not planted any and I probably won't, but I might put up a few hanging baskets on the deck. I love flowers and pots of them also, but don't think I can care for them.

I went outside to prep a pot to put a tomato plant in, and found a cat sitting in the pot. I won't be using that earth now...

Lisa -- LOL LOL I guess you won't

My DH had flower boxed full of flowers on our balcony when we first moved here -the flowers attracted the hummingbirds, but he only had the balcony like that for a couple of years -then I guess he lost interest. So I don't have any flowers out there -and I finally got rid of the pigeions too..

Incidentally, he has been gone 2 years to-day--doesn't really seem that long. May 16

I have 5 peonies that are up, naked ladies (suprise lilies) have their green out right now, hosta's are going nuts, funny thing have had irises planted since first year I was here (2004) the green has been comming up but they hadn't bloomed, this year they are blooming. If I had had more time back home would have went and stomped around "the home place" and found some daffodils to bring back, Mom had about 4 different kinds and they said that the place is full of them since they have gone wild and that area is never mowed off. My rose bush is leafing out but it won't bloom until around Fathers Day. Kenny has been looking at rosebushes but told him at that at this point I don't want to "buy" anything like that, don't know how his Mom's health is going to go and don't want to plant anything I can't dig up and take with me if we leave the area. Oh and I have some lily of the valley that is comming up around the peonies there must have been one little stray bulb when I dug them up and now I noticed that there are about 10 little ones with their heads up out there.

My white peonie bush is now blooming. It is a double flower, and yesterday was what I thought was in a tight bud. Suprised me this morning to see it in bloom.

Joy planted a peony last year and we thought we had lost it but it popped up this year. Hurray! It doesn't look like it's going to bloom but it is a Peony and I'm sure it will next year.
Neighbor lady has the most magnificent Peony I have ever seen so it should do well here, too.
