I have been told that peonies take 5 years to "mature" to bloom but don't know how true that is. 3 peonies I brought from NE when I visited my X SIL. One has bloomed every year I know it is purple, not sure what color the other 2 are could be pink. The other 2 I brought back home from IL 2 years ago, they are white and starts off a bush my Granny planted in the late '20's or early '30s. What alot of people don't realize is that you never want to plant peonies next to the house (unless of course you like ants in the house), ants feed off the covering of the bud, allowing it to bloom.
