  • Thursday, October 31 ~ Happy Halloween

Good morning Rounders! It's Halloween and we even have a little candy this year, just in case the little 3 year old grandchild of the neighbors next door decides to come Trick or Treating. His name is Skylar and he is adorable.

There is actually no trick or treating in this complex, no soliciting of any kind. When our new security system kicks in in a few days it will be really secure living and I know it's supposed to make us feel secure, but all we've heard from the other residents is negative energy regarding the new gated security system. You know that change is difficult for seniors in the first place, but to just have it thrown at you like this without any prior knowledge makes it even more challenging. It kind of scares me for what is coming in the future.

Aldi's had avocado's for 49 cents each and I bought 4. They also had Walnuts on sale and we bought 2 bags of those. Maybe I will make fudge and add some walnuts or maybe I'll make spiced nuts for Christmas this year. We add them to our cereal each morning and they are great for salads.

Maxie, I'm so sorry about your tires. I have been there several times in my life. I wish I had paid closer attention to my dad and brothers when I was growing up. They knew everything about cars and could take them apart and put them back together again. I shudder to think that something like a flat would happen if I were out driving by myself. That is a very good reason for me not to be out driving by myself. I think I'll let DH keep that job as long as I can.

The news is too depressing, but thank goodness the Hallmark Christmas Movies have started and I have actually watched 3 movies that I'd never seen before. I loved Christmas Wishes and Mistletoe Kisses and am looking forward to the next ones every weekend. I tear up on most of them. They can really put the spirit of Christmas into your heart.

My joints have been so crotchety with all the rain we've had, but I'm still taking the Glucosamine and I know it's helping. I'm thankful for the rain. Every day when I'm out in the garden I see more seeds sprouting. Especially the Vinca. There are hundreds of seeds that have sprouted. I doubt if they will have time to flower, but they might.

I have nothing on the To Do List for today. My B/P was normal this morning. Looking good!

I spoke with my neighbor yesterday and we are still on for the Arts & Crafts Fair for this Saturday morning. We just had a Texas Roadhouse to open downtown and we are picking up my dh after the show and all going to lunch. I can't wait.

    Peace & Plenty.

BOO!! Good Morning to all...Karliann, it is scary to think of what is to come sometimes, gated communities, etc. guess that is why I like small town/city life, doesn't seem to be as much trouble or danger...I always carry a cellphone with me, if I have any troubles will call the hubby to come rescue me, if not him then roadside assist... I hope you and your friend will get to enjoy the arts and crafts. I sure miss having Trick or Treaters, dressing up, passing out candy, etc. houses are to far apart in this area...

Well my fun for the day will be sitting in dentist chair and getting a small cavity taken care of before it becomes a large one... made beef stew yesterday and homemade rolls and since it was a rainy, dreary, chilly day it was a perfect time for it...will have leftovers today because I am pretty sure I will probably still be numb..

I got my calendar for 2020 made yesterday, didn't get the two done for my sons...also was printing out some pictures, one granddaughter is a swimmer, the other into soccer, so I bought two cardboard things with that spelled out so need pictures to put behind them...als0 bought frames for them...this will be for a Christmas gift.

Well time to eat some breakfast, read the news and then get ready for my appt. today...Have a bootiful day everyone.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

Good morning...I am up and taking care of business. The security company is here. For almost a month I have been trying to get my security system fixed.

Later today I have to start calling around to find a new doctor. I went yesterday for a well woman exam and the nurse practioner didn’t do a very good job and it was a horrible experiance. I am being referred to a specialist. While at the doctor’s office I also found out that the new doctor that I will see in December won’t prescribe my migraine meds he is going to send me to a neurologist. He is the 3rd doctor I have had in 2 months. My original doctor did everything for me all the time but has moved out of state. The the one she told me to go to left the practice. Now the one left is making me feel insecure so I will make calls today and see what happens. I am extremely proud of myself for dealing with this and not getting over frustrated.

I also need to pack my over night bag for the ladies retreat with church.

The fun stuff for today include a trip to Salvation Army.

Good for you Beth. Find a doctor you are comfortable with and who will address your needs. But if you need help choosing a doctor ask for it...you need to find one that makes you happy.

Morning! I am afraid I have to use a four letter word this morning...snow! It is on the porch and tree tops and when you open the door it has the breezy cold feel of snow. I was up at 5:00 and could see it falling through the lights...not exactly what I was thinking about on Halloween. Yesterday was a blustery, cold, rainy day. I hate that winter is here so quickly.

Karlinann I am going to Aldi's and see if they have nuts. They are so expensive! I have not made fudge in years but it sounds good. I saw a recipe for caramels the other day and they sounded good too! I am horrible about walking out of here without my phone. When I am home it sits by the table next to me but I just forget to pick it up when I leave. I have no numbers memorized so would be totally lost if something happened.

I hate having to spend any time at a doctor and a dentist the worst. I broke a back tooth a month or so ago and it cost a fortune...I should beat my boys for not being dentists!!!! But they do use great deadening stuff. It is very fast. The same as the dermatologist uses...instant freeze.

We were going to St.Louis today for the Hobby Shop but not sure now. He is not up yet and I do have a grocery list. I got absolutely nothing done yesterday but those darn tires. We ate out last night at a diner type place...food was good even if the cook got carried away with the gravy. Andrew did not want to go and was grumpy but the waiter ask him where he wanted to eat and then steered him to similar stuff on the menu. We then stopped at Dairy Queen on the way home and I was freezing the rest of the night. It was blustery outside and then I froze myself from the inside! I had to put on my flannel jammies and big red robe. Blues won last night! I hate when they play on another channel with other people calling the game. I like my people calling the game...our star player is out for surgery and will not return for 5 months...that means we will have to make the playoffs this year to see him play again. I am just sick about it but we have won twice without him...hope those young guys can step up.

Well guess I'll fix another cup of coffee. Need to check the coffee supply and hot chocolate. Both the guys are drinking a lot of hot chocolate while sitting around a fire. I need to make an Amazon order so night as well make it a big one.

I agree with the Hallmark movies shielding our minds for a couple of hours. The news is just horribly depressing. I do want to watch the House vote on the impeachment probe this morning. No wonder we need Hallmark. Hallmark does put you in a good mood. I have not seen any of the new ones yet but will. With three channels of Hallmark I will not be missing to many this year. My son will come in and sit and say 'oh we've seen this one before'. Cracks me up that big burly guy recognizes a hallmark movie!

Have a wonderful Halloween everyone. We will not have any Trick or Treaters. Andrew is not going door to door this year for the first time. There are no kids around here. I have a bowl of pop corn balls I used for decoration and will send them home with Drew. All the bagged candy I bought we ate. I miss the years of kids coming by. We had so many back home...oh well, life changes. Happy Halloween!!

I will have kids coming this evening starting around 5:00. I have a lot of candy and will give out the good stuff first so I don’t end up eating it.

I need to go back and read about your tires, Maxie, but you have my sympathy!
I hate buying tires or dealing with car things.

Ugh. Halloween is starting early! My first child just got dropped off early because they got ready sooner than planned! Then go through Starbucks or get a doughnut! Do not drop off your child when the daycare is still dark! Anyway, he is here.

Beth, you sound like you are doing great! Finding doctors is getting to be a challenge here. A lot are moving away as are our favorite PA’s. Of course no one tells you where they moved to, but I have found a few,
the problem being they moved to specialists that I don’t need nor can I afford.

Hope you all have a great last day of Oct!
Hallmark movies are what get me through!
      Sending you all a hug!

Afternoon all! It is POURING and windy. A few places have postponed T&T until tomorrow, but not where Blaise is going. Whatever.

Yesterday morning Sue & I got a fair amount done, and then went to Mel's for lunch since T couldn't go to the Italian place. I came home, iced a carrot cake for Mel's and then sat down and slept. I think I had a low grade fever. This cold is kicking my butt again. I finally found some energy around 730pm, and baked off the rest of the sugar cookies.

This morning Sue & I kept plugging along, and T eventually came after her mammo & ultra sound. We got a lot done. Started packaging cookies up for the craft show on Saturday. My job the rest of the day is to ice 5 doz sugar cookies. We have to take Blaise down to Kathy's and hopefully she'll bring him home. I DETEST driving in the rain at night.

        Quack, quack!
