Good Morning, school delays and cancellations around here, so much fog...

I am finally back home, unpacked, pictures downloaded and shared, Drs. appt. taken care of and physical therapy sessions starting to day....my hip has been bothering me for some time now, at times it goes all the way to my knee, got bursitis of the left hip got an injection on Monday after xrays and exam, it has gotten so bad can hardly climb any steps or and incline. Can't take Aleve because of blood thinners, start physical therapy today.

Well now the whining is over will tell you what a wonderful time I had at the reunion..everything went smoothly, my cousin kept calling me the 'boss' which everyone thought was so funny, I just think being organized makes for a better time, LOL...lots of food, lots of relatives, and lots of pickin' and grinnin' going on, lots of musicians in the family...we are now down to 4 family members of my Dad's generation out of 13, that is why the relatives of my generation are keeping this going...I also had a photographer there to take pictures of families everyone loved it....the photographer just happens to be my sons SO so that worked out great...I have a flash drive for anyone that wants pictures made..

I spent most of yesterday prepping and cooking and setting up my physical therapy appts. My time sitting here at the computer is limited as it makes my hip hurt to bad, and this morning it is really hurting, will ice it soon. I have a large meatloaf made, 6 qts. of chili made, between that and some leftovers I have from the reunion I am all set this week.

Now to get this hip better before my next venture in motorhome....Have a great day one and all..I am indeed blessed...
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

    Good morning,
Looks like we've got a week of 104-105° temps ahead. I'm forgetting that autumn weather normally hit us til after Halloween. (I've only seen trick-or-treaters wearing coats once, maybe twice, here.). Actually, there's an art/craft fair in Sierra Vista the first weekend of October, and that weekend seems to be the hottest of the summer. I wonder if climate change will affect that yet?

Well, I feel human again, I got my haircut yesterday. One of the nicest I've had. She never cuts it the same way twice, but she takes care of the problem spots really well. I have natural curl in my hair, which likes to do it's own thing. I've got the products that help my hair look good. (It has gotten pretty dry with age.). Anyway, I'm feeling happy with my haircut/style.

There's a Big Lots store not too far from the beauty salon. We browsed through that, and spent too much, but it was fun. This store is much larger than the one in our neighborhood. I bought a bag of "Amish noodles" just to try them. They're like regular flat noodles, but rolled out thicker. I was surprised that E threw a couple of small pillows in the basket. Better support for his arm than the travel pillow I gave him.

No plans for today. But I do need to write out the family birthday cards for September.

Sharon, we have almost no relatives left, and I miss the Grace reunions. (My family never had reunions.). I have my brother left. Cousins, most of which I've never met. E has his twin sister, who is not friendly to us, go figure. Plus the nieces and nephews in MI. One family group that wants to start up reunions again...maybe next summer. We might go,
As that group is fun,and we are treated with respect and lots of humor.
The other family group, also on E's side, are sooooo serious overall, but I understand they'll be included.

Well, off to get a bite of breakfast now. I have a mug of hot "Alpine apple cider" this morning (in rushing the season). 😋

    Have a great day, everyone.

Temps to high for my liking...yes a 'good' haircut can make all the difference, I wish I could take my head of and cut it, I like my haircuts better just can't get to the back like I would want to...

Jo, I bought a bag of Amish noodles at the Farmer's market in Annapolis. I still haven't used them; I am waiting for a little cooler weather to make chicken and dumplings and use them then. When we were travelling through PA a long time ago, Gary and I stopped at an Amish restaurant and had them and I loved them.
It will be hot all week here and they are saying it will break some records. Yay us...112 on Friday...I almost didn't go out swimming this morning. I thought I had a bat swooping around yesterday morning and was a little afraid, but I got out there and didn't see anything. The water is a little warmer and last night I did not go out swimming as I have been. I know it sounds strange, but it was too hot to go out in the pool...
I have a quilt I have to finish up so a friend can take it out to Virginia. It is for her granddaughter and my hand has been hurting too much to do much quilting. So, I will be getting it done and then the rest of my quilt tops will be taken to someone who has a machine or I may decide to tie them. I want hand done quilts.
Jo, until my shoulder started getting better (months!), I propped a pillow under my arm for everything from facial appointments to reading in bed.
Trash has been picked up and the cans are back in the yard, out of sight. My neighbor across the street and next door keep theirs out all the time.. Probably one of the good things about an HOA...not allowed to leave them out in newer neighborhoods.
Sharon, I hope the therapy can alleviate the hip problem. Your food prep is amazing! Especially after all you did for the reunion. Glad it turned out so well and the photographer is the icing on that cake! I know how much I love having pictures of an event like that.
Take care everyone and have a good day!.

Paula I buy Amish noodles at the store all the time, they are the best along with the broth if they have it, or canned beef or chicken...112 !!! Way to hot for my liking for sure...if you want to know if a bat is in the area toss a tennis ball in the air, that is what I taught our kids to do when they were young...

    good morning

Wow and yippee.. I finally got a full nights sleep , did not wake up until almost 8 am!!!.. should have energy to spare today... as we all laugh out loud... "little old " people never have energy to spare.. but I do feel rested...
.... will get the laundry going. maybe even sew a bit.. D. has long sleeve shirts he wants me to make into short sleeves.

...Paula. I made my Granddaughter Hannah a full size quilt ( a birth present).. the flower garden . which is little hexagons in rings to look like flowers. sew every thing together by hand.. and even put the binding on by hand and I quilted it myself .not one machine stitch anywhere.. a work of love for sure... 20 years ago.. a winter project..

JoG any advise for me how make thin, dry hair look Thicker??? what kind of product do you use?.

Hi Sharon, glad you are home and had a great time.. sure wears a person out though, doesn't It?

I better head toward the basement and laundry.. see you all later.

Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

Sunny and cool again...only suppose to be 80 for our end of summer swim party so not anticipating much swimming by adult people. Andrew is taking his battery boat and I will text my nephew to have his son bring his...at least the kids can run around the pool and still use it for play. First homework came home last night. MATH! Sierra had not intended to come home after class but I texted her and she came in to help him then left. Oh my...today's math is not for the normal minded. Sierra came in with bad news. She was all set to have a normal spring class load and be done in May. Seems someone screwed her up and she has a class she needs to take before taking the last four classes to finish up. That will give her one class this spring and a full load next fall thus setting her back a semester for graduating. She is really upset and for the first time I think she is going to fight or at least ask some questions. this was not her error in class planning and it is some sort of a pathology/physiology class of which she has had many. BUT she is scheduled to take 2 this spring and she hasn't taken one yet and her instructor says she must have this particular class with no substitute before taking 2. She will have to get it sorted out because it not only sets her back a semester but taking one class in the spring is such a waste. Maybe this will be what grows her a backbone and she tried to fight for herself.....although, between you and me, I think she will lose not matter who made the error because if she needs pathology one and two she will need pathology one and two. Have my blood work and bone density test this afternoon so think I will start some spaghetti sauce. If I run late Jon or Sierra can start a pot of spaghetti and make a salad. Andrew loved his supper last night...3 corn dogs and mac and cheese from a box! The only time he gives up trouble with food is when we are trying to figure a place to eat out...then he gets picky! Sierra used to be so picky but now that she is older is just glad to have food available...funny how that works. Need to change my bed and then finish up laundry. Got the ironing done yesterday and even dusted. Now that the window blinds are up I can see all the dust in the corners. Maybe it was to early to open them? lol. Take care of yourself Sharon. Being constantly uncomfortable is just a pain! Jo a fresh haircut is the best feeling..mine is tomorrow. Enjoy your days all..one with thick fog and the others with heat. I'm in the middle here!!

Maxie with the way our weather is around here we might close the pool earlier than we usually do, but it has been getting so cold in the evenings and only about 80 some days, might have to invest in a heater next year just so we can get more use out of it...So sorry about Sierra's class mess, that is enough to make a person angry and cost more time and money also. I loved Andrews supper also, sometimes I like pigs in a blanket and Kraft Mac & Cheese, it is comfort food to me..

Maxie, I don't relate to advanced math, either. I got as far as Introduction to Algebra, but couldn't keep the formulas in my head. If I can't break it down to simple math for everyday use, forget it. Our youngest got interested in Calculus, early on. The only Calculus that had in summer school was Cal-2 and excelled in it. Afterwards they said she couldn't get credit for it til she took Cal-1. How stupid is that? But she did, if only for the credits. Then they said the Cal-2 students would be taking a trip to NYC. So I sent the principal a note, asking if she could participate....he said no, because she wasn't done with Cal-1 yet. I objected and said if she excelled in Cal-2 already, she is fully qualified for the trip, and if she ciuldnt go on the trip, it was the weakest case of prejudice there is! I guess he thought I meant to take legal action, so the school just cancelled the trip. She had no benefits in being the brightest kid in her grade. She eventually decided it was easier to "dumb down" so the teachers would hit picking on her. (Her vocabulary outdistanced theirs by miles, even in elementary school.)

Maye, my hairdresser chose Eufora (Nourish) brand organic products for my hair. I use the shampoo and a leave-in conditioner. That takes care of the dryness. There's also something labeled "Behave" and another called "Thickener" in that line, which helps with the fullness. However, I have found that Tressemé has a serious Volume conditioner, which I decided is quicker to use than those other two items. I just don't tell her that.
Also, if my hair is losing shine, or needs a bit of extra shine between shampoos, I use Euforas "Illuminate" spray....I spray my comb which dispenses the product through my hair. You can just lightly spray your hair with it, too. You need to play around with it to see what works best for you.
When I'm shopping, I'm always looking for travel-size things to sample. The Tressemé conditioner really worked, so I bought the full size to keep in my shower. I also use the cans of Tressemé hair spray that holds in humid weather, and a lighter spray by VO-5 for non-humid weather. Lightly spray the underside of your hair first before shaping it into your style, and then another light spray over all as you finish. Another trick for fullness look at the Got 2 Be products. They have a powder you can sprinkle into hair, and yeah, somehow it really does make it look like a natural fullness. That or a dry spray shampoo (on underside of your hair) are a nice quick-fix of you don't have time to shampoo.
My hair being so dry, I shampoo once or twice a week, because I don't want to lose whatever natural oils I have left in my hair. She does have a finishing spray called "Style", but VO-5 is less expensive and does the same thing.
      Eufora is available on Amazon.

Good Morning everyone. Had a good time at the fair, parked at Wal-Mart and rode the shuttle bus, which was nice, seems they must have something with Arrow bus lines to use their busses. There was a fair worker on the bus, he told me to ask for a courtesy shuttle to get around. Didn't do that since Candie decided to rent a wheelchair when we walked in. Went through the little petting zoo, like I've said the 18 year old is immature so watching her was like watching a little one. Went and had supper from the benders, had what the called a thanksgiving sundae, dressing topped with shreaded turkey, gravy, corn and dried cranberries. Walked through and looked at the other animals. Went through the birthing barn and the 4H exhibit. Walked around and the girls played some games and then Candie and I found a place to sit while Krystal rode rides with a friend. Had a funnel cake. Even with the little walking I did was up through the night with my leg cramping up.

Boffler, growing up there were 4 family reunions every year, there are still 3 but I haven't been in years.

I can seldom pass up a funnel cake...and I am still trying to wrap my head around a thanksgiving sundae. I might have to pass that up for strawberry ice cream!! Glad you had a good time..it is nice to get out and do something different.

Maxine, the sundae just came in a foam bowl, scoop of dressing with the rest layered on like toppings. Maybe I'm strange but I will kind of layer things together after thanksgiving, especially if it is just little dabs and I am the only one who would eat it as leftovers.

Sharon, Jon has been talking of closing the pool for a couple of weeks now but could not bring himself to it in August! Last week he and Drew did get in to do some cleaning and chemical checking but got out quickly. With the exception of that one week of 100*+ temps in July that is all the really summer hot we have had. Last night Andrew did walk around it running his boat but other than that he has not been to the water in a month. What a waste the entire month of August was! I just hope this is not a prelude to a terrible winter. I will mention a heater to him although my sister stopped using theirs a long time ago because it cost so much to heat the water and keep it at temperature. Maybe having a smaller above ground pool will be easier than her in ground. There is definitely a weather pattern change and it has been here for several years! We tease Scott that before long where he lives in southern Missouri will be beach front property with the oceans rising but if the temps are to cold to swim what good is a beach?

          Howdy! Nearly noon.

We've been to town and are back to get busy with chores. Felt guilty buying gas and groceries, when so many in our family cannot do that right now.

So speaking of weather, that's all we are focused on here. Three of our nephews are dry but without power in Houston at this point. Can't get anywhere and if they could, nothing is open. Two others still dealing with lots of rain in Beaumont and Port Arthur. Refineries in PA shut down. One nephew is stranded at Herman Memorial Hospital, where is a a chaplain. I'm sure he's very busy at work.

Well, better get things sorted and continue to monitor family.

          Hugs to Everyone.
