  • Hello "Black Friday" weird name

Good Morning it is the day after Turkey day and I sure don't plan on going shopping, never have and will not start today.

Our Thanksgiving was full, fast and delicious...everything cleaned up, put away until Christmas dinner...I am thankful for so very many things but if I started trying to name them I would surely miss something..

I hope everyone had a wonderful day.

Like a few others I awoke to the news that we had lost another family member, my Uncle Bob, my Dad's brother, he was 88. Soon we will be the 'older' generation as the older older ones will be gone.

Time for some coffee and news so I bid you all a wonderful day, a relaxing one..Very thankful for all of you here.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

Good Morning! Another dreary one here....I NEED SOME SUNSHINE!!!!!! None predicted until Sunday. Blah!

Yesterday was great. I slipped in to watch the parade and then the dog show in between cooking. Headed down to my brother Tom's with all my goodies around 3:30. It was wonderful that we ALL were there, including Kathy...she usually doesn't come to family events. After dinner clean up, we played cards. Around 7pm we had dessert. Finished our card game and then left around 8pm because we THOUGHT my SIL wanted to sit down and watch the Steeler game with the guys and took my Mom on the way. We didn't even get home and my SIL texted Becca asking if she wanted to go shopping with her & the girls. LOL! They picked her up along the way to town and I heard her come in around 2am. She'll be sleeping in. I picked apart the 2nd turkey I had roasted and then sat down with Cork to watch the game. I finally gave up and went to bed at 11pm....I was tired. That's early for me.

This morning I'm going shopping.....at the local grocery store for some butter and milk. Then it's home to bake & some cooking for tonight's Leftover Dinner & Games with family. Just about everyone but Kathy, Jimmy, and niece Maddie are coming plus my a couple aunts, uncle, and my cousin Mike & Pam. There will be 15 of us I think. I'm adding some so there will be enough plus making a couple pies that I didn't make yesterday. My SIL is making more mashed potatoes because we didn't a pretty good number on those yesterday. I assigned my brother Ray big Chinette plates so we don't have to do so many dishes. No cooking for me the rest of the weekend. I'll assign others pick up duty around here to get ready for everyone. Just the basics...I'm not going to fret. Need to get extra tables set up for everyone. Think we'll do buffet style with the food.

      Have a good one all!

        Good Morning, Everyone.

Not going shopping. Nowhere to shop around here. Ha Ha.

Nothing planned for the day. We have leftovers, as well (so nothing to cook) Doesn't everyone?

Will give my kitchen a good scrubbing, including floor.

        Have a good day!

I am going out and about today and I guess you can call it shopping but I have no intention of fighting the crowd and actually buying anything! Today we are going to St.Charles for the atmosphere and well, maybe if I see something that I really really need I will do some shopping. Hello Beth..I am going to be in your neighborhood! Yesterday dinner was wonderful...things normally turn a little juvenile when my sons are together but I do like the 'hey, remember this' and of course, their dad always comes up. Sierra never knew her grandpa since he died before she was crawling and she enjoys the stories...my husband was a character! We ate a lot of food and, like cookie, played cards after. Jon is working and we will be showering and leaving soon so we can get a parking spot. So happy everyone appears to have had a nice holiday. I think it may have been what I needed to move me from this mood but time will tell. Where did the name Black Friday come from? I never thought it strange before Elaine mentioned it...now cyber Monday I understand but black Friday? Ok gotta go....happy day after turkey day everyone!

Black Friday is when the stores hope to get out of the red on their earnings and into the positive Black showing earnings instead of operating in the red...
            Most of them make it.

          Good morning.
I was wide awake at 2 a.m., so read for about an hour.
Yes, we have leftovers galore, too. E is in Hogs' Heaven.
Yesterday, one stepdaughter sent us a picture (and address.....long overdue!) of her son and his family. He has 2 little kids, ages 5 & 2, plus a wife, all of whom we haven't yet met. This grandson we've seen once at age 5, and again at 18, so we barely know him, either. Maybe someday we will.

Well, we don't plan to shop all weekend. Drivers are getting crazier every year, and customers in stores can be pushy and rude. so many loonies are out and about. Don't people know that on sales like these, stores have marked-up prices, and put marked-down stickers on that so people only think they're getting bargains. (My DD did work in retail for a while.).
Black Friday is when shop owners hopefully get their finances "in the black".

Sooooo.... Not much going on here.
A good time to dig out Christmas cards for addressing, I suppose. Plus figure out how much we're spending on Christmas this year....the family has grown this year.

I think I'll give myself a manicure today.

Sassy, I absolutely love todays Kitty graphic!

          Have a good day, everyone!

Good Morning and we had a great day yesterday. The car was filled with the food and by the time we got to the rental (14 miles) my stomach was growling. I brought cream cheese with an onion jam chutney and crackers for a snack before eating. That went over great, as did the pepperjack cheese stuffed olives. My brother had stopped in Corning about 18 miles south and bought some other olives so we had plenty and they were super impressed at all the food we lhad prepared and brought to the table. As the cook, that is all I need. My brother and nephew went back three times!
The rental is on a small, windy area of the Sacramento and there was a doe down the hill from the house as we ate and an eagle that flew over a few times as well as a hawk that probably resides in the area. Beautiful views of Mt. Lassen in the distance and the foothills closer up. I had found it for them so I was getting lots of appreciation yesterday, although he is the one paying for it. But cheaper than a couple of hotel rooms!
No big Black Friday shopping; I have done most of mine online and will round out with local shopping tomorrow.
Today we are going window shopping around Red Bluff, with my SIL and niece really wanting to see House of Design and their gorgeous Christmas display. Pictures just don't do it justice.
The best part for me about yesterday, after being with family, was leaving all the food at the rental house! I had been cleaning as I cooked. so not too much around here to do.
Hope you all can enjoy the day after with the leftovers and company as much as the day of!
Take care and continue to be Thankful!

Hello everyone. I just got re-registered after forgetting my password. I didn't post a lot before, so I should have written my password down. But....finally got my account right (I think), so now...to get reacquainted! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I think I gained 3 -5 pounds on my already overweight body....and, I have a doctor's appointment this next week, Prayers appreciated that the doctors scales will lie for me! For those that don't know me or don't remember me - I was an old time 'CorkBoard' poster. I live in S E Illinois, married 48 years, 5 kids, 4 grands, and very spoiled cat! My hobbies are FaceBook (I am hooked), country dancing (when my arthritis lets me) reading, and genealogy. My husband just retired from farming. I didn't work outside the home except for a few years that I was a teachers aide in special ed.
