    Howdy All!

Wow! Another hot morning. Guess the Walmartians will be dragging out the tank tops and short shorts. Fortunately, we are not going there today.

Last day of chemo shots for John for a month, so we are off to cancer center.

I have found my mission for Christmas this year. One of our children at church got involved a couple of years ago and I finally took time to research it. So, I will be supporting Caroline in her cause - Samaritan's Purse - and will start collecting items for Christmas boxes. Kind of sad that it took an 11 y/o to jerk me into reality.

So I will get myself started on the day. Hope yours going well.

Laydebug my family has been involved with samaritan's purse for years....traditon is that if time allows my sister and nieces and I go to mom's for the week end pack boxes...I think that I will pack some of my own as well this year...we almost always do for girls...This year on my own I am thinking about doing two boy boxes to add to the mix.

Yesterday at work it was work....then I had one heck of an adventure coming home...I got on the bus only to find out that they were alternating routes...Meaning I was on the bus for almost 3 hours....got home and got my part of the house all cleaned up...mom and daddy got here just in time to go to bed. I am going to work this morning they are going to begin helping my sister and her family pack up their home..They take possession of the new home on Monday. I will also volunteer this afternoon. I will join them at my sisters after I volunteer.

Cori was up in the night with my dad...then came and told me about it at 415 or so....I gave her food and thought I would go back to sleep for a bit..it didn't work...Now cori is hiding under the stairs.

      Good morning

explain about Samaritan's Purse.. what and how does it work?

Elaine. happy to hear John gets a rest from Chemo for a month..
Bethina.. how did you stand being on the Bus that LONG?... I would have screaming for a Taxi.. ..

making vegetable soup today.. been a long while. and had almost forgotten how to put it together.. but meat and broth were made yesterday. so
just need to fill the big pot and start the cooking. .. tempted to use the slow cooker. but too much work to get out of cupboard. ( way up in high spot, climb the little ladder to get it down.,,so will skip it).

Mark was here earlier. cleaned out the most unusual light we have over the kitchen sink.. hard to clean.. I put one of those new type bulbs in that last ..light is dimmer but bulbs do last longer... all back together for another 3-4 years. so clean light. window and curtain.. another spot Done.

Hello to all. be back later to read..

Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

I would have been screaming for a bathroom!
I have decided my slow cooker can sit back in the corner of my counter, Maye. I used to have it in a lower cupboard and it was getting to my back to get it out so often.

Good SUNNY Morning! Lovin' it!!!! Yesterday was so cloudy & dreary that you felt like it was pressing in on you.

Yesterday was super productive. Did the finishing touches on 6 kinds of cookies. It took almost all frickin' day to do that. And they wonder why they are so much. I made a pot of soup...chicken barley. Got a call from the General Store lady and she had containers for me to use, so after Corky got home, I popped over there. Took some more samples. Her husband is totally sold...his words...on my baking. She was only going to order a couple dozen of plain cookies, but he wanted more including a couple containers with fancy cookies.

After dinner we started working on Blaise's Halloween costume. The one he said this morning he doesn't like...figures. Anyways, we've got it done for school today. Got the call to pick up Corky's car, so we got that done. When I got home, I tried a new sugar cookie recipe that I got yesterday. I tried one of the cookies on Sunday and HAD to have the recipe. They literally melt in your mouth...not kidding. I posted the recipe in the Kitchen.

This morning I've got bread rising and I'm making fresh Choc Chip cookies for the store. Taking the cookies, some soup, and a loaf of bread over later this morning. Plan to sit & ice the sugar cookies & hopefully get them done. Who knows what else I'll get into. I'm down to only 5 more kinds of cookies to make for the wedding order and I hope to get them done this weekend.

There is all kinds of racket going out on the road beside our property. Looks like they are going to pave it. I don't know why because it seems fine. The only thing I can figure is the drilling & oil trucks traveled it A LOT there for a while and I know they gave the twp some serious money for the "inconvenience", so I'm thinking the twp is using that money.

Samaritan's Purse/Operation Christmas Child has been around for many years. We've done boxes most year. You fill a shoe box sized container with appropriate items (toys, candy, etc). There is a list that gives you do's & don'ts. Our church is a drop off location for all the local churches/organizations to bring their completed boxes and a couple in our church is in charge of a couple counties for this.

      Have a good one all!

I can't remember what year it was that I heard about it, but it was a food blogger, Christy Jordan, from the south that talked about it. One of our local Baptist churches receives the boxes here. I get the daycare involved and we do some boxes.

Good Morning to all...so much going on right now, and I need to start putting things in my 'reminder calendar' so it pops up on my computer or IPad first thing in the morning.

Got my teeth cleaned and appt. for a replacement filling, seems they say part of one is missing and old one, so will do that before first of year when everything changes and we no longer have dental insurance...

After my appt. yesterday I did some Christmas shopping, a store here called Gabe's or Gabriels, kind of like what a Value City use to be....

Maye I canned 17 qts. of veggie soup, love the convenience of having it when I want it without having to make it again...

I also went to GFS (Gordan Food Service) and bought a beef brisket, will get that ready today for the smoker early tomorrow morning...will be my first time making one in smoker, might be a learning experience.

Need to do some laundry and pick up a few things at grocery store, supposed to be a nice weekend so will also get things put away off the front porch.

Have a great day one and all...love this time of year...

I bet there are churches in your area, Val, that participate. Good to see you here!

What a difference a day and a half makes!
I feel just like my old self and ready to take on the day and a few kids. One is going to LA for a four day weekend, so one less diaper child.
Being sick kind of through off my inner calendar and this does not seem like a Friday.
I am making cookies this evening for the party at church tomorrow night. I am not sure if I posted the recipe in the Kitchen the first time we made them: candy corn with white chocolate chips?
Super good! Also need to make dinner for Monday for my friend Barbara's husband's birthday. She is having her surgery today for a feeding tube and I said I would do the dinner and cake for his Halloween birthday. Then my son Stuart has a birthday the 4th of November and he will be at Spencer's in Maryland! So excited for them to get together. Stuart will be there for an education conference. Someone asked him on Facebook if the district was paying for his trip or if he was. He didn't answer but told me, No way am I saying the school district is paying when our teachers were just seriously threatening to strike! The District is paying for the trip, but he is staying with Spencer and saving a lot of money for them by not staying at a hotel and they do budget for inservice for the principals.
Sharon, let us know how that brisket turns out. I love smoked brisket.
Have a great day and stay out of the way of any germs! Elaine, enjoy that heat while you can. Donna, our sun isn't scheduled to be up yet, but I doubt it will be out and shining. We have rain forecast for the next few days. I feel bad for the kids but maybe it won't rain Monday evening when they all go Trick or Treating.

          Good morning, everyone.
I finally dragged myself out of bed, 6:30! Can't believe how many of you already posted, but then there is the time zone difference. The sun hasn't come over the mountains yet, so it's a gray-ish morning so far. Temps will be in the lower 90's, I think, through the weekend. Then Monday - Halloween - will be cooler in the 80's, and I hope the trick-or-treaters after sundown will have appropriately warm costumes.

I didn't get to cleaning the fridge yesterday, as I found 3 other jobs that needed getting done. My lower back was complaining afterwards; but, sorry back, I need to get back in shape sometime.
My DD in WA called last night....she's our "baby".....and since we talk for 1-2 hrs, and she's worked for phone companies for ages, she likes to call us to save us the cost of calls like that. Besides, with her schedules (work & personal), I hate calling only to catch her on the road.....don't want to distract her attention at a time like that.

So, today must be the dreaded clean-the-fridge-and-find-that-elusive-corpse day. Yuck. Men don't seem to notice (or won't mention) this needed job. But I'll find the smelly culprit and wipe down the inside surfaces of that appliance!
Then we can consider which Halloween decorations well use. Probably just a few this time, 'cause I have a doctors appointment Monday afternoon. Hope it won't be too long. We put out the decorations and take them in on the holiday itself. We've had enough costly things stolen and damaged when we leave them all out.

Hope you all have a great day. (Don't eat all the candy!!!)

Later: I found the "corpse" in the fridge. Unfortunately it was a very good beef roast that I'd left in the garage deep freezer. He apparently brought it into the house and put it in the back of the fridge, to make room for stuff he'd recently bought. (Sometime before we left on our trip.). Well, it's wasted. I won't say a word, but I'm keeping an eye on the fridge more closely from now on. No sense hitting those meat sales, "Buy 1, Get 2 more Free", if he's just going to toss what's in his way.

Today I'm cooking up the two turkey legs that I brought in from the deep freezer. Browned, drowned in stock, with onion, barley, and carrots.
          Cranberry sauce on the side.
