Morning...its a good thing that I love my cori kitty!! She decided she was starving at 3 and could not wait for her food. Then at 545 she needed to be petted...the 545 is forgiven...because I went to shut my alarm off the one set for 6. Evidently when I turned off my 5 oclock alarm I also turned off the one set for 6. I am just glad that I didn't over sleep again...

Work continues to go very well..I was with out my job coach yesterday and will be again today..and Sunday and Monday She will be back on Tuesday and Thursday of next week then I will be completely on my own....I was finished with my responsibilities in the men's department by 930. I helped another lady after she showed me a couple of things in the men's department. We were caught up by 11 and I got off early! Got off the bus at white castle ate some lunch and came home lunch was Nasty!!! I quickly remembered why I never go there. Once I got home I basically spent the rest of the day snuggling with Cori

      Good Morning!

sassy, I was getting worried. So glad to find you here this morning. Be sure to let us know where you move to.

Just cooked a pound of bacon for John. I cook it, he gets 2 pieces (halves) out each morning and reheats it with his egg. No grease to deal with.

Last shot for John for another month. He seems to be tolerating this medicine well and feeling good. So grateful!

Well, I want to get my bedskirt hemmed this morning before we leave, so better run.

Have a good Friday. ((((Janet)))) (((JoG)))) ((((rounders All))))

Pat, I read what you wrote - "worst hurricane - EVER" - Ha Ha Ha!

Elaine never thought about doing bacon that way, instead I have been buying the precooked ones...now I will change that. Glad John is tolerating his shots and even happier that he is feeling good.

Good Morning and the busy prep day begins...I got a lot done yesterday, but had an errand to run also, found the mums I wanted for my planters, also saw a patio table on sale so hubby and I took his truck and went back and bought it.

Sassy, good to see you, wondered about you, downsizing is a good thing, I have done it numerous times...just let us know when you get settled in.

Bethina, I leave a bowl of dry food out at all times for my two kitties, they seem to be night time eaters, so when they get hungry they can have food without waking me up. Glad your job is going well,

First thing on my to do list is to make potato salad this morning, always best made the day before, have to sit down and do bill paying, and then will prep all the things I can for tomorrow...hubby is a last minute kind of guy and it drives me CRAZY!! And guess who sent a message last night that they were not going to TN and would be at the cookout, and what could they bring? Yep you guessed it, his Mom and her hubby....well at this point bring nothing but a chair and your drinks the rest is taken care of already..as well as the damage of letting hubby know his worth...Looking forward to tomorrow with those that were excited about coming and most of all his 90 yr. old Grandpa whom I love dearly is coming also, he is so happy that hubby's sister is bringing him to be part of our day...he has always said he wanted to come and see our home but was afraid he would never get to see it...and he happens to think I am a pretty special lady!!

So I will not be here in the morning, will be up early and getting busy...as I will be busy here today also...

Have a great weekend one and all, let your family members no how special they are to you..and Maxie, I know the dilemma of exes and what I always tried to remember is kids love their parents no matter what and they do not see them in the same way we do...they can do no wrong, so best to keep opinions and such to ones self in order for said child to feel free to love both parents and to speak of them freely...(in other words I have spent a lifetime of biting my tongue and plastering a smile on my face)

      Hugs to all
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

      Good morning everyone.

This has to be quick as I have a Dr. appt. in Vincennes this morning. To those who commented about my heart, I don't do for glory, but because I love my Aunt and have ever since I met her when I was 4 years old. And yes I remember that day as if it was yesterday. I was her and Uncle Paul's girl until their daughter came along 4 years later. I was jealous at first of the baby, but we became like sisters. We are still very close today.

Got to go so everyone have a great day.
Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.

        Good morning....☕️
Supposed to be sunny and 98° today. 🌵 100° for the next couple of days. The trees are looking thirsty.
        No particular plans for today.
There is a bit of drama going on with middle DD.... Her husband walked out and agreed to divorce last year ....but he's avoiding the server somehow. Her attorney is looking into other means of reaching him, rather than pay the courts again to look for him. So he's got a lady friend (who knows, maybe more; he's a truck driver) , and is keeping DD from going on with her own life. They have one daughter together, and apparently is sending some support for her while she's in school. He acts like he'll support her through college, but I doubt that. Fortunately, she is very eligible for scholarships.

Sassygirl, downsizing is good. I need to do more of it.
Beth, I've never let any of my cats sleep with me. Sleep is important. Don't spoil Cori too much.
Elaine, I'm glad to hear that John is doing good and feeling well.
Boffler, don't let your in-laws get to you. Spend your time with Grandpa and those who make you happy.

Hope all of you have a very good, long holiday weekend. ☀️

          Morning all

Hurricane Hermine was a non-event for us. We didn't even get any rain! Looks like we dodged yet another bullet.

TGIF and it's a 3-day weekend for me!

          Y'all have a good 'un!

The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

            Good SUNNY & cool morning!

Yesterday was good. Made 22 pies. It's so nice having all the crusts rolled & ready to fill. Makes the job much easier & quicker. It still took me most of the day though. Did cook a nice dinner for the guys. Had new red potatoes that I finished off with butter & parsley and fresh green beans...YUM!!!

Called the Transportation Dept at the school to discuss the drop off location. She offered me an option and after discussing it with Corky, we are taking it. There is a mini bus that comes by and can drop him off on the safer side of the road and it's only 5-10 later than the bus he rides now. Problem solved. You just have to calmly call & ask nicely what can be done.

Corky's off today & Monday. They reached a quota early, so the company gave them 2 paid days off, which is really nice. So I sent him out with Blaise this morning and I got right into baking. The second set of 6 pies is in the oven right now and I hope to get the 3rd set of 6 baked before we go out for lunch...Chinese. Need to make up some more fillings for tomorrow's baking. This baking marathon will soon be over in a few weeks.

I messaged Becca & ask her what her paper was on & it is Mental Health of Adults who were Incarcerated as Juveniles. She is using 2nd hand data to create this paper since the court system wouldn't permit her to research some of the data herself.

            Elaine...glad John is feeling better.

            Have a good one all!

Pat, happy to hear your non news about the storm.
Just got a text that one little guy will be home today on a long weekend. If only my meltdown girl would have a day off.
              Nope, she just drove up...
              Be back later.

Cookie, I'm amazed at your pie baking. Thanks for the subject of Becka's paper. That should make some very interesting reading.
Pat, I'm glad the storm petered out.
Paula, "meltdown girl"? I must have missed something along the way. Hope she's not a problem today.

Not sure what I said the other day about her, but a 2 1/2 year old that mom had said would not have a bottle when she came back after summer break. But came with it and demands to have it and whatever toy anyone else has in a very loud, wailing voice! She was so much better before her summer break...a child who runs her parents and grandmother and the rest of us deal with the daily mess!
Ok, can you tell I need my 3 day weekend?

              • #11
Ok, good to see you sassy girl! Downsizing is always on my agenda, but I know doing it under a time pressure can be stressful. Hope you can take a few deep breaths and not over stress.
My son got the keys to their new house yesterday. Most of their furniture is still on the way from Japan, but they bought a new couch and a couple of new beds...
My other son is super happy that school has started and the teacher's settled their contract and will not strike! Their paper published a good picture of him on the first day of school. He was bent down talking to a little girl while holding the hand of a kindergarten boy who had just been dropped off! He has contacted different businesses and churches in his school's boundaries to partner with the school. They do community service with them and the organizations donate supplies to his school. Sunday evening he went to one of the churches that was having an anniversary celebration to show support for them. Sorry if I sound proud. I was worried he would not have the same good influence on kids as a principal as he had as a classroom teacher.
And one more Mom moment...Spencer said Boone and Hal came to him to learn the Pledge of Allegiance because all the kids say it every morning. And in just two days they have got it! Shows how much little kids want to fit in. If we can channel it in a good way just think of the possibilities!
Cooler temps are coming! No triple digits in sight for at least the coming week. I see fun yard work in the coming days. So far, I really like doing my own lawn!
The Farmers Market goes through September. Yellow plums and tomatoes are my favorite. Even at 2.50 a pound, the taste is worth it.
                Ok, enough from me.
Donna, tell Becca that paper sounds so interesting. Will she be able to use primary source individuals? Either law enforcement, or adults who went through the system?
Hope she does publish it. I would read it
Hope you all have a good day.
                (((((Maye))))). (((((Darla))))) (((((Jo)))))
And virtual hugs and cheers for all here!

I am positive I wrote this morning...Sierra stayed over last night and I was up early with her before class. Just a series of strange things that happen around here. Boys cut the grass last night since we had no rain yesterday and it looks phenomenal. This morning the sky is solid blue with no clouds but it is cool bordering on cold for me. If other people's plans come through this weekend I will go to my sisters alone. Thinking I will stay over 2 nights and come back Monday. Andrew is leaving for Tennessee this evening and Jon has a dentist appointment after work and Sierra is bringing in lunch so I do not have to cook tonight. It truly is a holiday!! Have a load of towels that have sat in the dryer for so long I have another load to wash. I cannot get a handle on finishing anything. Got my blood work done yesterday and am ready for an explanation. You know, I think if you are old and healthy they go nuts until they can find something wrong. No word from the carpenter that was to start next Tuesday. The porch is our last project for the year then back inside. We have never hung pictures and closet doors still need hanging in 2 bedrooms. Sharon the addition of your in laws is no surprise. Once you went ahead with your plans I knew they would show and if she is anything like mine it will have been her idea and she will be the guest star. Pat so happy you were spare the entire storm but from what I heard this morning it will be a wet holiday up the east coast. everyone have a wonderful holiday weekend if I don't get back.

Maxie I am waiting for just that....she always likes being the center of attention anyways...she announced it yesterday like we should be telling her how thankful and happy we are she is coming..no one said anything, think more than just me and hubby were upset..I have been in the kitchen ALL day, I am getting older and much slower for sure..I went ahead and got the baby back ribs ready, do not that white membrane on the back hubby usually doesn't mess with it, I removed it from all five racks.

My sons girlfriend posted a message to me on Facebook:

Hey you, do need/want more tomatoes? I seem to do nothing but eat these suckers all day long, but I still somehow have plenty of them, haha. Let me know

And before I even saw it or read it my Mom in law responded to her:

Hey I'll take some. We are going to Doug and Sharons Sat.

Is everything just rubbing me the wrong way? LOL She doesn't have like bunches of them...but I was going to add to what she brought me last week and make some spaghetti sauce...

Good morning . or almost afternoon...

have been moving very slow.. these shingles are the nastiest thing I have ever had..they just never stop.. the blisters have stopped but the inside nerve pain goes on and on.. if you have ever had a severe diarrhea attack the pain of these is similar. only just on left lower side.. ..thank you all for you caring remarks.. I wish I could report I am all better but that's not happening yet. so will get done around here what is absolutely necessary and then crash..

Beth you will have to break her of disturbing you at night.. ..so do not put any food out in middle of night .once a cat has a routine they like to keep it.
Pat.. soooo glad to hear you missed the bullet of the hurricane.. my grandsons live along the east coast ..so will hope they are hunkered down..
Sassygirl!!! so good to see you here... a lot of work , downsizing ,moving.. but try to stay with us ,even briefly..
Paula.. hope you had fun with meltdown girl. .
JoGee. if we would never have had any of those kids. wouldn't life be quiet ( and boring )?
Sharon , may your weekend be great!!!!.. and your hubby will handle it..
Elaine,, wish you live somewhere closer. should would like to set and visit with you and John..
Jostoy.. I had one Aunt I loved like that too.. but she died in her late 30's.. and I never got to know her as an adult..nor did her 5 kids..

time to get done another necessity.. Bathroom here I come..
Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

Maye, yes life would be boring without the kids. Each one is so different from the others, which adds to the interest. And they each have their turns with some life-drama or other....all different, too. only the son & step-son have anything in common....both need/have a wife who is a mother-figure. All the rest are girls, and all the girls are fairly bossy.....mine and the steps......but they try to keep it low key unless they're pressured.
They've learned from past mistakes, and try to learn from the present ones. I no longer worry overmuch about it. I just like to be informed of what's happening, and how it affects their kids.
I have told them since school days, don't make mistakes you or others have made, learn from them. Then think for yourself - you know right from wrong by now - so any future mistakes will be new ones, which are a heck of a lot more interesting than getting in a rut with old mistakes. They were also told to prepare to bail themselves out, for practice, because we won't be around forever to give a helping hand. You have to know how to stand on your own two feet, and be able to help your own families.
Believe it or not, they actually listened! 😏

That doesn't mean we don't help them out at all. We do when help is really needed.
