  • Thursday July 28th.....rise & shine cupcakes!

    Good Morning!

    Yesterday was a good day. Dropped Balse off & picked up Kathy. Got some baking supplies (30lb frozen blueberries, 40lbs frozen cherries, gallon of vanilla, 8lb white sanding sugar for all those sugar cookies, and 50lbs of shortening for all those pies & cookies) then stopped at my bank to cash Kathy's BF check. He really needs to get a checking account of his own. Came home & started mixing up 4 different kinds of cookie dough which I hope to start baking off today. It all needed refrigerated overnight. I then started rolling out pie dough. Didn't get very far on that.

    Took a break and went over to Aunt J's to see my cousin Karen to get her Norwex order. Thought I'd zip in & zip out, but I got to be part of Bethany's gown remodel. She looked so beautiful! Came home & my SIL & niece were swimming in the pool (I knew they were coming) and we joined them. It was so refreshing. After dinner I started working on the 2 pies ordered by the restaurant and iced the carrot cake they ordered. All ready to be delivered this morning.

    Talked to Becca several times yesterday. We are so darned proud of her. Her and a co-worker went and looked at an apartment in the town where they work. They fell in love and I'm sure that's the one they are going to rent. It's brand new. The last tenant was the first one in it & he only was there 6 months until he got another job out-of-state. She was fretting a bit about all they would need. I told her I'd do the same for her as I did for Kathy a couple years ago when she moved into an apt. She'll get an early Christmas and I'll buy some stuff for the apt. Christmas this year will be all about Blaise since I paid one of Kathy's medical bills the other day that was turned into a collection agency. They were giving 65% off of it if paid by a certain date. Kathy was ignoring it. I called & paid it and will give her the receipt as her Christmas gift. This has been a very expensive month. I better start baking lots of pies soon! I'm just waiting to hear from Linda when to start.

    This morning I'm going to bake cookies. I had hoped to get to the bank, but I just noticed the date on Corky's check. They give the guys their checks on Wednesdays but they aren't dated until Friday. DUMB! Not sure what all else I'll get into. Tonight is the big parade in Saxonburg and I'm not sure if we'll go or not. My SIL said she'd call later. Normally we walk up from my Mom's house and watch it from the corner, but I'm not sure if my Mom will want to walk that far this year.

    Best get busy. Have a good one all!

    Good Morning....got the doors and windows open for the time being, feels so refreshing to do that.

    After hubby got home from work we went to the county fair in another county, was a bit warm out but had the taste for some 'fair food' we bought a pork tenderloin and shared it, also a funnel cake and shared it, today I have a candy apple to eat, then that will be enough fair food...don't eat that kind of food because it hits the stomach like a ton of bricks...and stays that way for a long time.

    Today is hubby's birthday but he went out of town this morning for a few days on a business trip, so no carrot cake for his birthday, but will make him a small one for Sat. and a birthday dinner.

    Have to go back to the Drs. office this afternoon so they can look at the site of my TB test, I can't even see it...so that is a good thing...have to get one early while I take Remicade, will also need to stop at the eye glass office and have them look at my glasses, one side just feels weird..

    Donna, so glad you have Becca that is doing so well and maturing, just a darn shame Kathy never learned the same thing, it amazes me how children can be raised in the same house, same environment and still turn out so different...you and Aunt J have fun together...

    Well I need to get this day started, get some things done while it is nice outside...have a great day one and all.

    Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

      Good morning....Cori was a very very bad kitty yesterday...mom was ready for her to go back to foster care..she hissed at everyone! including me! I think that she was just over whelmed yesterday was the first day that she had been give complete freedom in the house...also there were 5 extra people in the house besides me...we are going to bring some stuff over that was worn by my sis and her family..and then some stuff worn by my parents to give cori a chance to adjust to their smells. I do think that in time she will be fine...when I got home last night she was laying the middle of my bed not hiding!! then she slept with me for a few hours...She still will not let any of us hold her..will that come with time?

      Today I volunteer...then taking with my 85 year old friend who I share a ride home with for ice cream on the way home..

      Not much planned for tomorrow..or this weekend!

        Beth, she may or may not come around to be a cuddle cat. Since Gus was born and was on the street when she was little she doesn't like to be cuddled. She will jump up on me if she thinks I'm sleeping but if I move she gets down. Kenny and I can pick her up in the house but if she is outside she won't let us touch her. She also runs and hides if anyone else is around. Give her time let her adjust right now she isn't sure what is what.

        Good Morning.

        the more we do together . together , the happier we will be.... a song from somewhere popped into my mind as I read the above posts.

        Donna moved back to Pa. and family has been surrounding her with love, support. and just having fun..

        Bethina, your family is the same way.. . words of advice on kitty... some cats never learn or want to be held.. my KD Kat is like that.. doesn't cuddle . but purrs and plays .as for yesterday .too many people ,,, was over whelming for your baby... should have put her in your bedroom and closed the door.. the hissing was just her protecting herself.. not meanness.. yours are the only hands she needs now... and if only you hold her. pet her.. she bonds with YOU.. I am on long term kitty housepet about #12. make her YOUR cat by being the only mistress in her life right now.. my cat is 3 years old now and still hides when others are here..since she has started out this way.. she may stay this way..... ....Daughter has a cat EVERYONE can hold , pet. put on their lap. etc etc..just difference in kitties. ...lecture complete

        ~~~ to Sharon and Pat.
        will be back later to see who pops in.
        HI Justy.. and Paula.
        Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.
          Good Morning.
          Hi Donna! Hi Sharon! Hi Pat! Hi to All!
          beth, our cat will let me pick him up but he won't stay with me. He sits on John all the time. It's hard to say what will develop with your cat, They do what they want despite your best efforts. But just be patient.
          Lady coming over to work on a yearbook in a bit, so I need to clear the decks.
          Have a good day, Everyone.
            Good morning!
            Same advice about Cori from me, Beth. Our cat, also a rescue, is not a lap cat, but comes up for petting and chin scratching. Until he doesn't want it.
            Who knows if he was cuddled or what, and he hides in my closet when there are others in the house.
            Stuart and his family are hiking up in Lassen park this morning. Hoping to beat the heat. Today is supposed to be 112* , my air clicked on already.
            I have a few errands to do before it gets too hot. I am making spaghetti for tonight and Ran out of ground beef in the freezer! Lots of tilapia, but I doubt the kids will go for that!
            Spencer messaged me and posted they finished escrow and the house is sold. They are in a hotel until their flight to leave Japan. It is going to be a difficult move. He said so many friends came to see them off, lots of tears, and hugs and the realization that time is running out...my hope is that he will eventually return as the head of the Japan office for Ciena. Right now I am grateful they will be much closer and no passport required to visit them!
            Have a good day, Everyone!
              Good Morning, was up at 4:30, the bedroom seemed closed in to me so came out here and turned my fan on me in the recliner and went back to sleep. Kenny just now woke me up asking "are you okay" or I probably would still be sleeping. Talked to my cousin, who was closer than a sister when we were little last night on facebook. last night. Was hoping that she had a truck and could come get some of my stuff when my sister comes to get me. Her truck is broken down so that was out. She basically told me just to forget "stuff" and come home where I am loved. Told her I know it's a good move and reminded her that if her Mom and I hadn't tricked her many years ago things wouldn't have worked out for her. For a long time she was mad at me for the trick (told her she and the baby needed to come stay with me and get things lined up so that her then husband could come move in with her. We knew it was just a matter of getting her out from under his thumb and she would see that he was no good. She told me she thanks God for giving her Mom and Me the wisdom to get her free of him.
              Went down in the basement yesterday, got my pictures and some of my keepsake stuff put into a tote to take with me need to go back down today and sort through some more. One cow wouldn't fit in the small tote (it's one of the flat ones that go under a bed). Don't want to leave it since it brings memories of a very good friend and another friend's daughter. Nancy had passed away and I was helping Sue clear out her apartment. Nichole has heard me ask sue if anyone was taking the cow cookie jar so since Nancy had "rescued" some of Nichole's stuffed animals when Sue made her get rid of them next thing I knew Nichole came running up the hall, with Sue behind her saying "put it in the box, you are not taking it back home" and Nichole saying "Darla you have to take the moo-moo, you have to save the moo moo" She was maybe 12 years old. anyhow I saved the moo moo. I did pack in 2 beanie baby cows that a friend gave me along with a fake pearl necklace. He found out I liked cows and picked them up at a swap meet and the "pearls" was because he told me that I should be wearing pearls with my skin tone (his X wife was something to do with a jewlery store and had told him what gems went with what skin tones.
                Good morning, everyone.
                I stayed in bed later this morning. I was awake every 2 hours or so last night. E says I have a fever, but nothing to worry about yet. Guess I'll be taking it easy today.
                Nothing new from here, really. Getting ready to go to Phx on Friday.
                Oh, an odd thing happened yesterday morning. I was sipping my tea, and somebody gave our front door a good try to open it. I ran for E right away. I can't reach the security peek-hole to see who it was. Turns out the only person in sight at all was the Pest Control guy working next door. Not the guy who comes to our yard, but a short, skinny Hispanic guy.
                Could have been a substitute for our guy once or twice. He was walking and spraying in my berm one time, I had to chase him out because I'd just seeded it. The flowers never came up. Then the other time E had some tools in the yard he was working with.....they disappeared. We didn't see him take them, so we couldn't say much. Anyway....short & skinny or not, there was a lot of force on the door knob. Fortunately, the door was locked, and we have a resistance bar on the inside as well.
                We did have evening showers again last night. Yay! Thunder, lightning, but basically light rains preceded by very heavy winds. It amazed me that I didn't see the trees go flying off.
                Beth, Cori might be overwhelmed with all the people there. Some cats never want to be held, or petted. Some will never leave you alone. If she hisses again, I agree she should be shut in your room. Right now, you're her main person.
                You've been given some good advice.
                To everyone, have a great day!
                    Aloha all!
                    Like everyone says, Beth, let Cori adjust to you and the house at her own pace. Cats are so different then dogs. They own you, but you don't own them.
                    Hot and humid here too.
                    Have a good day all!
                      Hi Nalani.
                      We haven't quite gotten to our 103° yet today, humidity only 24%. I'm sure you don't miss that much.
                      I'd like to step into Paradise there sometime, just for a change of pace. AZ seems hotter than it used to be.
                      Aloha, friend!
