    Morning all

It's Saturday - and yes, I'm at work. But the end of working every Saturday is in sight!

Chris is headed to Pensacola to attend a family fish fry for his Granny today. His birthday is Tuesday, so he took five days off - well deserved!

So I'm off to get this office rocking and rolling.

    Y'all have a good 'un!
The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Good morning, Pat, and everyone else who opens the door to say good morning or just to take a peek.

Did not do a lot yesterday as I want to let my back rest for a bit. Did get the garden tilled with my "hand tiller", and got all the weeds thrown out of the garden. This morning I want to spread more fertilizer and weed killer on the lawn while the grass is wet.

Already have ham and beans on cooking in the crockpot. Does anyone else fix whatever your taste-buds are hungry for or do you wait until the "season" for it? As you can tell, I cook what I want and when I want it, not "going with the season".

Time to get my day started. Everyone have a great day.
Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.

I'm like you - the stomach wants, what the stomach wants - regardless of the season. This summer I have made a pot of chili and chicken and dumplings and enjoyed every bite!

Good morning..I am awake because some of the people upstairs are not being real quiet...My best friend is here with my parents...I think Lisa is probably still asleep...my mom and dad are the ones that are up..

Lisa and I are headed to the casino once we both get up and around....we didn't get home from the ball game until almost midnight...it went to extra innings and the cardinals ended up losing by 1 point. They had a poor pitcher for one inning gave away 3 or 4 runs.

This evening my parents and I and my bestie are all going out to dinner then to a movie...my sister and her family will join us for the movie...not sure they will come to dinner...I will call my sis in a bit and invite them...my mom is going with my sister today.

I am going back to bed atleast for a little bit...I am still pretty tired from last night and have a big day ahead of me.

Good Morning to all....I think I am back in commission again, if anyone else mentions any type of test I say NO WAY!!! They have labeled it gastritis and pneumonia in my left lung...okay so let's get on with life...I know I have an inflamed stomach and esophagus so will be more selective on my foods...and take my medicine.

Today I was up early because I have a pork butt in my smoker with some ribs also, will take until late afternoon for them to be done, and also have the makings for chili to make an freeze..making enough pork to freeze also...and to answer Jostoy question, I don't just eat in season, I make what I have a hunger for at the time...

Hubby is building our fire pit and patio area outside, coming a long real nice...will show a picture after it is done..

Breakfast is cooked and served by hubby so have to go now...have a great day one and all.

        Good Morning!

Yesterday I FINALLY got freezers defrosted & cleaned out. The one freezer is in my pantry & we worried about water sloshing onto the carpeted floor. Well I used 4 18qt roaster pans in there to catch the thawed iced....it worked fantastic. So I totaled defrosted & cleaned the two large upright freezers and the refrig freezer in the kitchen. Once I organized the 2 big freezers I had enough room for the stuff remaining in the chest freezer, so I just unplugged in & let this thaw. It didn't have much ice in it. Now I'll have to take some time and crawl in there and clean it. The only freezer let now is the refrig freezer out on the porch. Just puttered the rest of the day away...laundry, cleaning, finished my book, pool. Leftovers for dinner.

BTW...I did post my Orange Chicken recipe in the Kitchen for whoever ask about it the other day.

Not sure what all today will bring. I know Blaise & I are going to a 50th BD party with my Mom for one of Aunt Janet's DIL. She's throwing herself a party. Need to run to DG and get a BD card for her.

Bethina...have a wonderful time! Jo...um...think you didn't give your back much of a rest if you were tilling & weeding...just sayin' Pat...busyness means job security.

Jo...I make whatever I'm hungry for whenever I want. Pork roast & sauerkraut was always a New Years Day dinner and then you didn't have it the rest of the year. Once I got married & cooking for myself, I have a few times a year now. The only thing I don't really make during the summer is soups, but then again, I'm not in the mood for them then.

        Have a good one all!

Yes Beth, they had a very poor pitcher for one inning that lost our lead and we struggled the rest of game playing catch-up. I was very aggravated that they even brought him in! So this morning I am off to spend the day with my sister and her family around the pool. BIL will grill something and I am never disappointed with food when at their house! Her grands will be there also and they are the cutest things. Sierra and her dad are both working and Andrew is in Tennessee to pick up a cousin or something so I will hit the road alone. Will throw in my jams in case I decide to stay over but in all probability will be home this evening. More strife in the world. So much hate and turmoil is a scary thing. Almost as scary as our up coming election. So I am off to start my trip...looking so forward to it. Going to be hot this coming week with spotted showers. It summer! Ain't it grand?!

          Good Morning. :

I am having a hard time typing after patting myself on the back for so long. I got the laptop computer to work, and I am so proud of myself. We never use it, but I do want it to work.

Cooking this morning. Chinese for lunch - egg rolls. Will check on the Orange Chicken.

          Have a great day!

            Good morning, everyone.

Jostoy, when it comes to cooking, I cook what I crave. I like soups any time of the year. Yesterday I craved chicken soup, but with a flavor of my past.....for me, it's a package of Mrs Grass's chicken noodle soup (not the canned stuff.) I threw in some leftover fried chicken that I diced, and half a bag of frozen sliced carrots. It was light, delicious, and filling. E was surprised at how much he liked it.
But, whatever. Somewhere in my freezers I have a pork roast that I want to cook and shred for sandwiches. Since I have BBQ Sauce on hand, I'll consider your orange chicken sauce, Cookielady, since I have the other ingredients on hand, too. Might add a bit of honey to it as well, to use it up.

Sharon, I'm glad you're back in commission today. That's how I feel about today. Yesterday I was pretty much down with sore legs, but the two previous day's included a lot of walking. I've put my walking aides aside yesterday for what little (indoor) walking I did. But going out I will still use my cane or walker...depending on distances, mostly, for balance for a while yet. Today I plan to stay moderately busy.

Beth, once you get going today, no doubt you'll lose the tired feeling. Just try to hit a decent bedtime tonight. 😀 Have a fun time with your house guests.

Pat, will you be joining Chris this weekend, or house hunting, or what? The fish fry sounds good. I enjoyed the one at Elaine's Roundup....it was my first taste of catfish. Loved it!

Today will be 105° again, rain forecasted Sunday and during the coming week. The next 2 days will cool off down in the 90's, which will be a nice reprieve. 🌵

Have a beautiful day, whatever you're doing today.

Jo, nope - I'm stuck at work today. But Donna is right, busy means job security!

Also - I totally forgot to tell y'all the GREAT news we got this week - our landlord came over Tuesday - he had another house that he had promised to us when the current tenants moved out (their lease wasn't up until the end of Sept.). Those people moved out early - BUT, he said the house we are in is much nicer than that one and we take such great care of it (and we always pay our rent on time!) - SO he is knocking $200 off our monthly rent just so we can stay. YAY! No moving!

Good morning, all. I know it's been a while but I just can't seem to get any energy after the two weeks of constant neck pain. Need to find a Dr. as my previous one moved away. Of course he did. I really liked the way he treated me. Tried to connect with one by calling the medical service but no one is taking any new patients. More Dr.s than you can shake a stick at but most of them specialize.

Another hot day in store for Sunny CA. Temps in the 90s all week but that is normal for here. Looks like mid-west is in for some highs, too. Be careful.

I made Chinese for my dinner last evening, stir-fried tofu and asparagus. It turned out OK but I accidentally pocked up a package of a different brand of tofu than I usually get and it wanted to stick to the pan. Never had that problem with my usual brand. Sure glad to have a stove that is hot enough to make a proper stir-fry. though.

Gotta run. Laundry is ready to go and I need to get to the laundry room before the helpers start as I don't want to get in their way.

Have a good one and watch out for the heat.

Pat, that's really great news! Now you don't have to bother with the hassle of moving!!!! I'm very glad for you.

Barb, I love Chinese food. Unfortunately it's not a low sodium food, and I have to watch out for that. And I absolutely love egg rolls. I should check out the nutrition on the frozen ones. Years ago I had a Chinese girl come over once and she showed me how she made egg rolls. She measured nothing, just threw it all together in my huge cast iron skillet (which my kids took away at some point), but what shocked me was that both sugar and salt was thrown in by handfuls! I still havent made any. Still, after cutting the salt in our diet, we went back to our favorite Chinese restaurant after a few years, and we couldn't eat the food because we really noticed the sodium!

Pat, that is awesome! And a landlord like that = awesome, too! Nice to be valued...so happy for you!
I cook whatever I want, just need to have someone to eat it with sometimes. Some foods don't seem to freeze well.
I will be off to the Farmer's market when I finish here. Red Haven peaches ( freestone) are still available and I haven't made any jam, yet.
Donna, all that freezer cleaning is amazing! I need a better method of freezing and labeling and will probably end up tossing a lot of what's in my inside freezer out.
I had a baseball game on while I was folding clothes last night. I think it was yours, Beth and Maxie, but then the phone rang and I turned it off...sorry about the loss. I am not a baseball person, but I cheer with my friends. Around here most people are Giants fans, but some of my closest friends are A's fans. For whatever reason, growing up, my son Stuart was an A's fan, so that is who I liked along with him.
Yesterday was such a mixed up day!
I got the phone call about my refinance being complete and setting up Closing!
Then a phone call about a friend in the hospital with mu,tip,e kinds of cancer. His kids were gathering and then family drama! Why?! Anyway, the daughter and her family came over here, I was letting them stay here, and finally, after she had calmed down from all the hurt she was getting, her brothers called and said they were sorry and please, come back and stay at the dad's house. Dad in the hospital had said some really mean things, and I was trying to say, well, it may be the drugs talking...anyway, besides Amanda feeling so bad, their 11 year old daughter was distraught. I felt so upset for her! If I thought I was dying I would be making amends!
Anyway, thanks for letting me get that out.
Beautiful day here, and I better get with my program and start doing something. Dog is off to the groomer's in an hour so I am running for those peaches now.
The joys of a small town!

I grew up with my parents having a huge chest freezer, which lost things until it was time to defrost it & then the stuff was freezer burned. When I started buying freezers, I get upright freezers. Yesterday while defrosting, I reorganized stuff since I was guilty of just throwing items in sometime. Now all me meats are in one area, veggies another, and of course the cookies have their own shelves. The basement freezer is almost exclusively fruits & pie shells.

Great news about the apartment Pat!!!! Hate moving.

Well my morning plans or rather non-plans got changed by a phone call. Patrick called from the restaurant and ordered 3 pies & a carrot cake. The pies are done & now the cakes are in the oven. Of course when I made 1 CC, I make 2 so that I can freeze the other one for the next time he calls. At least now my morning was profitable.

Pat, it pays to be a good renter. Proven by what the landlord did for you. Some people don't have their priorities straight and buy things before they have their rent paid for. Don't know why they seem to think that the landlord should forgive their back rent. My neighbor has had the last 2 renters to run up 3-4 months back rent. She had to evict the last couple. Thank goodness I only had 1 renter who pulled that on me. Was really glad when I sold the house for about half of the appraised value just to get rid of being a landlord.

Our neighbor in Shelby is a landlord and the little house down the road is one of their rentals. They have kept the rent on that house the same for over 20 yrs because the couple living there are such good renters.
