  • Thursday ~ Last day of March

    Man! This month FLEW by.

    Morning all

Yesterday was my day off - Erin managed to ruin it. More problems with school. *sigh* Donna - I understand your plight with Kathy WAY more than I ever wanted to.

I've been up since 2am. A lot on my mind. So I baked a batch of banana muffins and came to work. Clocked in at 4:20 a.m. Thank God for flex time

By this afternoon I will be dead tired. But will I get a nap? Ummmm... no. Erin has an appt. at 3:45.

So I'll drink more coffee and get this party started. Y'all have a good 'un.

The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

    LOL See Ya March! Cute.

    Well, good morning, Everyone. :

Another crazy weather day yesterday. John had a transfusion at the hospital, and when it was time to leave, I had to go to the car in a downpour. Tornado warnings all around us, city siren going off. Wow!
I had an umbrella, but the rain was horizontal, and it wasn't much help. Anyhow, I was a drowned rat by the time I got in the car. Luckily, the weather moved away from us and we survived.

Not much planned for today. Have a good day, Everyone.

Good morning yesterday was great...a friend came from IL and took me out to eat and we went to some of the little shops in the historic part of town...it was great...got wet a couple of times from rain...went to a restaurant that my sister recommended it was just ok..got ice cream from my favorite ice cream shop....and cookies from my favorite cookie shop...went to my favorite soap store..and another couple of stores..came home and rested the rest of the day..ended up not feeling great..mom thought it was from too much fatty food.

Today is a volunteer day...I made brownies for one of the guys birthdays..found out early this morning when I called to double check to make sure I didn't need to make 2 pans...that they had brownies yesterday for one of the other ladies birthdays..oh well had I known that I would have made cup cakes...

No plans after volunteering today..Just going to come home and read.

Update on the kitty front..I have decided that I want an orange little girl...found out last night that my friends neighbor has pregnant mommy....there is a chance that there will be an orange baby born because the mama kitty is Orange so I will wait to see if there is an orange one born.

Good Morning! Yesterday was pretty but now we are back to dreariness. Blah!

Yesterday was good. Went for a doctor's appt for thing and found out I now have one more Rx to add to my collection. I thought he was going to wean me off one med after the newest one kicked in, but no, we are keeping both. He says they each do something different. As long as I feel human, I'm willing. Got a call from my brother Ray asking if I could make him a pot of soup for work, which I did. Answered my question of what we were going to have for supper. Made chicken & rice soup and it was particularly tasty yesterday. Also cooked up the 15lbs of hamburger I bought the day before. Made some up into sloppy joes and the rest into taco meat for walking tacos. I keep watching the weather for this weekend and I'm dreading doing the concession stand both days. We may end up bugging out early.

This morning is Bible study. We didn't get to the library yesterday, so we may do that this afternoon. Time will tell. Want to make some rice krispie treats.

Pat....the drama of a troubled teen is something I would never wish on anyone. It has permanently worn me out. I don't know how people deal with it daily for years. God has blessed them with a special kind of patience and He didn't give it to me. The trouble is I was a very compliant child so I can't even BEGIN to fathom what is going on in their head.

        Have a good one all!

          Good Morning ...

having one of those mornings where I feel like I had taken a handful of sleeping pills last night.. head/body just doesn't want to get in gear and get busy.

there is no plans for the day and that might be the reason... oh, the house is calling to me to dust and sweep.. but I tend to ignore that voice..

I did finally decide to make some potato, bacon soup , and planned a meal around that. David is not eating enough energy building foods. Or I don't think he is... and I think maybe the weakness he was having in his legs before the operation was not all tcaused by the heart problem.... it is still there and I'm beginning to think it is part of the diabetes little sneaky tricks.... he will be disappointed if he cant get back to working on sawmill , at least a little bit. cross that bridge slowly

Beth, they will eat brownies two days in a row... I would.
Pat.. so sorry to hear Erin is having problems again,,, my heart goes out to her.. and you ,of course. your lives have not been a smooth ride and I'm sure some of her behavior is a result.. and no one is to blame, thats called "Life"..
Elaine, we are much concerned about John.. prayers and thoughts are with you.
Donna, thanks for the idea of making up hamburger into sloppy joe and freezing .. would be great to have in my freezer too.
HI Sharon,, hope you are well today.

          Hi Justy ,,
Hey there, Darla, Nalani, Jo ,Jos. Jostoy..Barb. Paula. ARM. Deb.
          and the dozen I missed...

come , have coffee, tea with us.

Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

Good Morning, looks like we are in for rain. I have a Dr appointment this morning for a check up. with everything going on I'm hoping that all my numbers are okay..

Pat and Donna, I had one of those troubled teens too. She had what was called ODD, basically she was a normal kid until she hit 12-13, then she decided that nobody was her boss or could make her do anything she didn't want to do. Some days she would be the sweet child she had been, others it was like she was a monster. My X's family thought I copped out, but I placed her into a residential home for troubled girls. She had started to cut herself. Her father was no help, my health was going down fast. I knew that I couldn't watch her 24/7 to keep her from harming herself or her getting into some serious trouble. When she got out of there I signed the papers to allow her to go into foster care with a woman who was a nurse trained to deal with her special problems. The first time she flipped on Joy, Joy called me and told me that she didn't know how I handled things as well as I did for as long as I did. Even with her training and support system it was more than she could deal with and she had to be returned to a treatment place. She isn't by any means "cured" but she has learned to handle things and how to get a grip on herself. She went through the whole "I HATE you phase" but she now has told me that she knows what she put me through and that she is sorry that she caused me so much pain, that in fact she knew what she was doing but actually had no control over it. It is caused by an imbalance in the brain. She has thanked me for getting her the help she needed and realizes that she could have ended up like her cousin (Dad's niece) that has the police knocking at her door anytime something goes on, Has 3 children that she has lost custody of and has put her parents in so much debt that they will never see the light of day. What I'm saying is don't be afraid to get them whatever help they need or about how people may see you as a bad mother because your child has problems. The X sister-in law has made comments like "I never gave up on my child" and I have to look at her and think "but your child is 35 years old, can't hold down a job, has you so far in debt that your husband can't retire at 76 years old (even though his health is bad and he has had 2 heart attacks) and still lives in your home, paying nothing for herself"

Spent a lot of time on facebook talking to my cousins son yesterday about the family tree. He actually is related to me on both sides of his family since my Mom's niece married my Dad's nephew. He knew lots of names but really didn't know how they fit in or exactly how they were related to him. He is expecting his first baby anytime now and wants to be able to tell her, her where she came from.

Well gotta go jump in the shower.

Good rainy morning to all, don't mind the rain if you don't have to be out in it like Elaine was yesterday...just thinking April showers will bring those May flowers..

Yesterday was a busy one for me also, Drs. appt.,then some shopping, then home got load it into the house, then to sort and put away, by the time that was all done hubby was home so we went out to eat..was delicious and diner that has been in town for all the years I have been here and he had never been there, I just never think about it. Tomorrow will be a very busy day also, eye appt., then a carotid artery scan, I have had one done and thinking it is getting close to having another one done, a few symptoms I remember from the first one before having it done, that was 5 years ago...(was so thankful that hrhouse lived in same town at the time, she and her husband where there for me and hubby at the hospital) we had only lived in Salem, IL 2 months when this all happened..good news yesterday from blood work, cholesterol levels all good, and all other blood work was good..blood pressure a little low but that is because I use to be a worrier and I have let a lot of that just go, walk away, etc. Wish hrhouse would check in, wonder how she is doing.

Well today I shall go to the store and pick up some ground round and brown it just like Donna did, love having it in my freezer also, very convenient for quick meals, and my daughter and her family will be in town next week, get to see my grandgirls and I am very happy about that, that was part of my shopping yesterday, LOL..

Pat I wish I had some good advice about teenagers, I was very blessed and lucky not to have had that, I thought I was going to at one time when we moved, but got him back to a catholic school and things were good again..at the first sign of trouble told hubby I was moving back to Ohio with or without him, within two days we have transfer papers for back to Ohio... I truly do not know how Donna has survived all these years, but putting your foot down and following through is a good start...I believe in tough love and Kathy sure needs that...I think it has truly had an impact on Donna's health, that and moving a lot..My love and prayers for both of you.

Well now Maye it is up to you to keep that hubby of yours in line, he needs some of those exercise stretch bands, that is what I used to get strength back in my legs, I could sit on the couch and use them.also helped my arms and upper body.

Elaine, what is the diagnoses for John and his blood problem..

Well time to get off of here and get busy.
Hello to all that have or will pass this way today...have a great day rain or shine.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

                  Good morning.
Yesterday we spent 2 hours at the doctors office. Saw a lot of people....a social worker, a male NP, the specialist, then his cancer/chemo coordinator.
Today I need to go through all the papers we got, and choose between 2 methods of chemo. The chemo will begin 4/20.
I also need to make an appointment for the week before that to get a Port inserted.
So that's where my head is at today.

Pat, sorry Erin is having problems again. I know it's not easy.

I guess I'll just wish you all a good day, and concentrate on my business at hand for today.

Rain and thunder and lightening yesterday but sun is peeking in and out this morning...birds singing. Picked up some yummy looking corn on the cob yesterday so will plan a meal around that veggie. Sierra just texted and will not be here for supper...no biggie since that is the norm now. Nothing new from here. Another month passed and another month closer to hot weather.

March came in like a lamb, then went all Lion King on us, and now, is going out like a lamb. I saw the neighbor watering her lawn yesterday so I started turning on the sprinkler this morning. Everything's nice and green and it will be great if I can keep it this way.
I love the new Super center! When I drove into the parking lot it was like Saturday at Costco: super packed, but when I went to check out, no problem at all. As I was looking at all the product in the frozen foods, a guy asked me if I needed help. I told him, "No, I am just comparing everything I buy for my daycare at other stores.." I kind of think I was talking out loud!
It is 49* now and will be in the mid 70's later.
I love sloppy Joes and so do the kids. I also use any leftover as spaghetti meat sauce for them...
Pat, hang in there...and try to focus on the good moments ...lots of us have been in your shoes. Hugs.
Thinking of all of you and enjoying our community!

                          Aloha all!

In my opinion kids are wonderful until and through the age of 12. Then they turn into monsters until around 20 or so-give or take. Patty was a handful at that age and we used some tough love on her. Her daughters did the same to her at that age and now one of the granddaughter's son is sort of doing that to his mom. The cycle goes on and on. Pat, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Elaine, what is happening to John. It doesn't sound good.

                          And big hugs to Jo.

Nice day here and have no special plans. Have a good day all!

Nalani, you've got that right about kids, but I don't think mine got human again again til after 25. And I still question at least 1. 😄
