  • Friday ~ March 25th

    Morning all TGIF!

It is POURING rain here - complete with lightning and thunder. It is supposed to be like this through Easter. No egg hunts will be happening here.

Luckily I drove to work during a break in the weather - not sure I'd want to be driving right now.

So I'll just sit here and sip my coffee and listening to it thundering outdoors.

    Y'all have a good 'un!
The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

      Good Morning.

Hi Pat! Hi sassy! Totally agree with Zig - attitude can make or break you.

Yes, it is Good Friday, and it makes me think of my grandparents. A special day for my Catholic family. We always had fish, but the old traditions have slipped away for me. Chicken is on our menu.

Jo, hope your swelling is under control and that you are feeling stronger and stronger.

Hope you all have a very lovely day.

Good Morning! It's raining here and blah. Kind of sets the mood for Good Friday. Yesterday was gorgeous.

Yesterday was good. Ice the one carrot cake, then ran to Aldi's to buy more supplies before making the icing for the rest of the carrot cakes. Picked up 16 bags of flour too. They have it for $.99/bag, so I'm starting to stock up for the pie baking season. Invited my Mom over for dinner. Found a package of pork chops in the freezer and was hungry for them. Mom, Becca, & I played cards after dinner until 8pm. Becca & I then watched NUMBERS for the evening....her chose.

This morning I need to ice the other 2 carrot cakes once the icing warms up a bit. Get them delivered. Blaise & I have hair cut appt at 11:30. Not sure what the rest of the day will hold. Trying to decide whether I'm going to bake the vanilla & choc cupcakes today or wait until tomorrow morning. They are for the restaurant's order. We may go to church this evening.

        Have a good one all!

Good morning, all. Looks to be a lovely day here, too. No rain in sight. Nothing on the 10 day forecast. Hope we get a bit more before the rainy season is over.

My knee replacement has been giving me quite a bit of pain. Dr. gave me a shot of cortisone yesterday. Feels much better already this morning.

Have to get my corned beef into the slow cooker right now if I want it for dinner. Glad I remembered in time today. Kept forgetting it earlier.

          Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning, no rain here, but a dreary morning...a cold one..not supposed to be very warm this Easter weekend, but since we will not be with family or friends no problem..
Elaine I have also gotten away from my Catholic faith, mostly because of all the happenings within the church and how they have let molester be transferred to other churches, not being held accountable for their own actions, etc., etc. have found that I can pray and believe from the comforts of my own home.
I also hope JoG is doing better each day, lots of changes in her life but she and Ellis both have the right attitudes and that makes all the difference in healing.
Hubby is home today so I want to find something for us to do, he needs a good break from work and things in general, I can tell it is definitely time for him to retire...
Had a good day yesterday after my blood work, returned some items to a few stores, shopped a little then treated my hubby to lunch...we have a new restaurant, Firehouse Subs, so that is where we ate..
Have no clue what will be for supper, might be we will eat out somewhere...Have a great day one and all...make a list of things you are thankful for and rejoice in them.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

              Good morning! 🌞
We have had some very windy days here, but it looks as if it'll be calm and sunny for a few days....we have low-80° temperatures again. I wonder if our winds were trying to latch onto some of your rain, Pat??? It didn't work.

E didn't want to drive all the way to the hospital yesterday to get my prescription Electrolites, so I asked him to please get me some Gatorade to tide me over. I know I'm low on fluids. But I woke at about 5 this morning and got out of bed without assistance. Less pain in my feet today. Swelling is slightly down in my feet today. I'm celebrating with a cup of mocha right now....but my taste buds say "get thee to the Gatorade, woman!" . E plans on getting my prescription today, but yeah, I'll be drinking another Gatorade before he does.
Cooking/baking is still out of my baileywick this weekend. I hope to at least make deviled eggs, though, for the holiday.

I asked E if he'd drop a load of stuff off at Goodwill while he is out today. While he's gone, I plan to unload the fridge of whatever is trying to turn into stinky creatures. He probably won't even notice when it's done. Men! 🙄
But he has spent long hours on the phone trying to get PT, medical supplies, and such, set up for me. He's a doll about dealing with my dressings for me....I've been too sore to deal with it, and can't get a full view of what needs done if I can't stand by a large mirror. But that's for a future time when I can move without a single ache or pain. He agrees. One step at a time.

I sent family e-greetings this week. I've never received so many responses back! Even from grown grandkids. 😊
I wonder if E's sister will be one of them......she's a weird bird, to say the least.

Well, not much going to be happening here. My surprise from my brother tomorrow is something I'm looking forward to.
I hope Mother Nature gives you all a nice holiday weekend, when all is said and done.

              🐰

Good wet morning .... I do like the sunshine .. but a rainy cool day is welcome when you have things to do inside... making pie dough and getting it into pans and roll out like Donna does.. sure makes putting a pie together later ,( sunday Morning ) much faster..

Donna, don't repeat this to my daughter!,,, but for the first time in probably close to 50 years or so. I am not hosting the Easter dinner... hubby made a face , because he likes the family to come here .... but this year, I am feeling the stress from the last couple of months. and just did not feel I had the energy to be the hostess.. soo.... Karen volunteered and I jump right on that one!... I will make the ham , some pies and fix up the plastic eggs for the Bethany and ??? to hunt in Her yard.. not even baking homemade buns.... . and thats starts another paragraph

have you ever put anything away.. and then could not find it?.. well,,,,,,,Donna got me a big bag of dry yeast a while back.. I divided it into little baggies in the amount I would need each time.. put the baggies in a tupperware container... decided the container was taking up too much space and transferred the little bags to a freezer gallon bag... and put it ??????????????... I have three freezer places . two refrig. and a regular freezer... I have taken out everything in these freezer this morning . reorganized them . and still have not found the yeast...frustrating..... and so no buns baking today...BUT ,there is a benefit... I now have 3 freezer spaces neatly organized . ....

Davids DR. visit with pcp went well.. I got Dr. to explain all the pills he takes.. got one decreased in strength . his Iron level was back to normal , so he can discontinue the iron pill.. He explained why he takes the new pill the Cardiologist prescribed..and he explained what D. can do and why he can't do other types of things... he can ride the lawn mower ...but not use the weed eater or the push mowers. the stress on the chest muscle might cause a hernia .
                  ...then had late lunch..

Sharon. I too have gotten out the habit of regular church attendance.. the minister before this one. had a "boyish " attitude .. and after being at church every sunday for 60 years .. I have heard sermons galore... the new minister .. I have only heard once.. I like him but then Davids problem interruped going back ,, and the minister from that, "our church".. never came near, to visit . to call , to anything .. ??? so I have lost interest in him too. I don't feel God and I have parted company tho..

better get to the pie crust making

                  I like the picture Sassy..!..
Hi JoG... you are amazing!... Prayers for your recovery ..
Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

Good morning...Maye I like how you stated that 'you don't feel God and I have parted company'. I too have drifted away from the organized part of religion and am leery of the political aspects. Yesterday we took Drew on his shopping trip. Funny boy...he hates shopping but had some items he wanted. New shoes, the brand of short that is so 'in', logoed shirts, athletic pants. Boy made a haul and was so happy coming home so how can grandma tell him he just shopped away the grocery funds for the next month? We dyed eggs but Jon did not have baskets together yet. I don't think we will see Andrew until Monday and I think Sierra is going with me to by brothers on Sunday...unless mommy dearest pulls another crappy move. She has pulled a few lately it is very sad to see how selfish a mother can be and how stupid a grown 19 year old has to be to fall for it. I wish I could not care anymore. Eldest son is coming in late tomorrow so think I will just deli shop for when he gets in. Sierra says she is going to Easter with us Sunday but who knows? Evidently changing plans last minute is ok since it is just us and we don't have feelings. Jo glad you are progressing so well and healing quickly. I have no doubt you and Ellis will maintain good spirits and be back to normal soon. Need to find something to take to my brothers on Easter and do laundry. Bright, sunny and cold this morning with rain predicted for Sunday. Everything is in bloom and beautiful with freshly manicured lawns (just not ours). I need a long hot summer and I need it fast...

I have been taking my time getting ready for the day.
Saw Florida knee deep in water and storms, Pat. Take care!
You East Coasters your weather looked like Spring is taking a break. Hopefully, your last bit of dreary and next will be cheery!
I have a facial at 9:30 and then the bakery trip and then this afternoon going up to AT&T in Redding for my phone. I got a flash drive from Amazon and loaded all my photos from my present phone onto it. Now to do something to get my Photos in my emails onto it or saved somehow. Funny, I was going to offer my phone to my granddaughter but she has an iPhone 5! Better than what I have been using!
Beth, I would strongly suggest you ask about a Kenalog shot for your allergies. I don't even sneeze since getting the shot.
Jo, take it easy and enjoy the attention and emails!
Elaine, your saying fish gave me the idea to get fish and chips when we are in Redding...I have a lot in the freezer, but scallops and fish sound pretty good.
Maye, I have a big bag of yeast in the freezer if I could just wiggle my nose and get it to you. I am not strong enough in my diet to make rolls unless I have a big enough group coming to dinner. For Easter it will be the regular: my mom, Becky and me. We are having pulled pork, coleslaw and lemon pie. Maybe baked beans, if I can make my recipe smaller.
Have a great day and keep it positive. Maxie, I admire all you do for your grandkids. Your love for them is as great as any super power!
I will be thinking of all of you throughout the day. Bless you all!

                        Late Aloha all!

I don't think one has to go to church to believe in God. He is everywhere and with you all the time.

Glad to see that you are improving, Jo, and the swelling is going down. Hope you got that Gaterade.

Today is my son's 62nd birthday and I picked up the cake I had ordered at Safeway and the kitchen now has it and will bring it out at dinner time tonight. We will share it with everyone as it is a big half sheet. Chocolate cake, chocolate icing, and yellow plumerias around the edges. He'll love it.

Have a good rest of the day all!

Nalani, I agree with you about church. HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY WISHES to Bim!. The cake sounds great.

Yes, I got my Gatorade. E went to the hospital pharmacy for the electrolytes, but the prescription expired! ????? What's that about? Supposedly it was written In December. Checking my appointments, I hadn't seen a doctor when they said, and no one even mentioned electrolytes until my last day in the hospital. Their pharmacy never contacted us about it til 2 days ago. When he got home he lodged a complaint with the pharmacist.
