  • Friday ~ March 4

    Good Morning, Everyone.

    Been A W O L. I think. Not really sure.

Pat, I thought your cake was more beautiful than the one who posted the the recipe. Hate this not hearing about Chris' job interview. It isn't unusual in today's world, unfortunately.

maxie, made me sad to read about your grandson. I love what you told him and your support will help him more than you know. It breaks my heart about the state of our schools today. Homework has gone off the rails.
Janet, so glad Dave is doing great!
Jo, how did the MRI go?
Donna, cannot believe Becca is soon graduating. Wonderful.
Barb, my husband loves cake - but no icing for him.
Sharon, I can relate to nurses, infusions, etc. John has seen more than his share lately. We have another treatment this morning.
Paula, hope you have a good day with your kiddos.

Hope I have not overlooked anyone. I am in a fog lately.

    Hugs ~ ~

Good morning, all. It rained off and on all night and we're looking for a deluge by evening. also have lightening predicted. I don't mind thunder and lightening when everything is green so it can't start fires.
Smoky says "only you can prevent forest fires." I think they forgot to tell him about lightening. some of the worst ones we have had around here were lightening caused.

Elaine, I'm not a big fan of frosting either. If I'm served cake I try for the piece with the least on it.

Will go read about yesterday as I wasn't here, either.

Good Morning....well I think it is...so far woke up to about 4 inches of snow on the ground and no hubby to clean the driveway or sidewalks...boo hoo...but today is also trash day so I got all that rounded up, litter boxes cleaned, and pulled a path down the driveway with the trash can...good thing my son bought me boots for Christmas... Hoping my phantom driveway plower comes by today...

He went to be with his Grandpa who is as stubborn as the day long...last night when hubby called he said he was cooking a chicken leg for the dog, it seems each day Grandpa cooks the dog a chicken leg and takes the meat off the bone for her..he keeps his house over 80 degrees and hubby was really sweating...ha ha

Think I will strip the sheets off the bed and get them washed while hubby is away...So today I will slice that meatloaf into individual servings and freeze it...thinking of a few other things to make and freeze also...have some things in freezer already, but snow outside puts me in the mood to cook..

Hope everyone has a good day, didn't sleep very good last night so I am tired this morning, but had to get up early to get trash together and out for pick up...now time to give my behind a rest, literally..crohns has been busy...

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

My volunteer experiance was great yesterday....Meeting in Saint Louis was ok..

Meeting this morning...Depending on my mood after meeting I may head for target...am looking for a pair of rubber boots.

Sharon, I just read your post from yesterday. I believe that you should politely ask for another nurse. I had one that told me at the first that she wasn't very good at IVs. should have stopped her then. she kept poking and poking an until I told her to stop. You have a right to expect better treatment.

              Morning all

I am still at home - have a parent/teacher with ALL of Erin's teachers scheduled at 8am. *sigh* At THEIR request. Can't be good.

STILL no word on the job. *another sigh*

I have a Caramel Gooey Butter Cake in the oven right now for our snowbirds at the condo. They have a potluck social every Friday night and they will love it. We will surely miss them when they all begin to depart at the end of March.

I'm off to get the ogre moving (Erin)

              Y'all have a good 'un.
The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Good SNOWY Morning! I bet we got 2" overnight....pretty.

Yesterday wasn't too productive, but OK. Got home from Bible study and after lunch we slowly but surely picked up around here. Leftovers for dinner. Had a nice chat with Becca from her new iPhone. Her last one only lasted 2 1/2 yrs. They laugh about my lil ole flip phone, but it has to be at least 6 hrs old and still working just fine. It holds a charge for at least a week. Got all of Becca's bedding washed & ready for her to come home to next Friday. Her spring break starts after classes today, but she's on RA duty until everyone leaves, which should be around 6pm. She's going straight to her friend Kristy's house down in Pgh and they will leave for Myrtle Beach tomorrow morning.

Not sure what today will bring. May run into Aldi's to pick up some of the chicken drumsticks (.49/lb) and avocados (.49 ea) that are on sale. Need to start getting all my tax stuff organized for my 9am appt on Monday at H&R Block. Blah!!!!

(((Pat))) Don't ya just get that sick feeling in the pit of you stomach when you get called in....like YOU are the one in trouble. BTDT They were always very kinds to us because they knew we were trying our best. One time I threatened Kathy that if she skipped school again, I was coming in with a bull horn and follow her from class to class and announce through the halls, "Clear way...KATHY BUCKHAM coming thru."

                Have a good one all!

Gloomy morning but had such a wonderful day yesterday we did not notice it rained most of it. Did some shopping and bought a new quilt for my bed and picked up new Cardinal shirts for the kids Easter Baskets. My sister shopped for her grands and our other sister just pushes an empty cart in support of those of us filling carts. No carts in the mall so nice to have an extra set of hands to carry. We had a major breakthrough in homework! Drew is having a hard time in the timed multiplication test. So he in the twos. I sat him down and wrote them out and showed him how all he had to do was add the two and how the times sign was an easy add sign and you could see the light go on. If you know that 2 x 7 is 14 you can figure what 2x 8 is by adding two. He was so proud of himself and kept wanting to do the flash cards. Ran down for his dad to make a big deal with a big grin. Now if he can remember that for today's test and keep up the confidence we may have made it...at least with the twos. If he passes twos we will work on 3s this weekend...if not it will be back to twos. At least we gave latitude and longitude a rest for a night. It shouldn't be hard to be a kid! Sierra ask me to go with her to register to vote. Probably to late for the primary but she will be registered for November anyway. I will run out in any weather to vote for anything so am glad she is taking an interest. All these little minds I have to mold...such a challenge! Lots of laundry today and if Drew does well on his test we may repack the leftovers scheduled for tonight and celebrate with McDs. I don't care if he does it in the allotted time just that it does it with confidence. Pat hope all goes well with your school issue. Maybe it will be spectacular news and when you get home a letter for Chris with a job offer will be waiting? Happy Friday to all...the birds are creating a big song fest out there so must be warmer than yesterday. Spring is just so close....!!!!!!

Donna, you just reminded me of what one of my friends did: she just shadowed her kid all day and sat in on every class. Finally, after hearing all day long kids asking, Whose mom is that? He told his mom he would not skip any more classes...
Sharon, my niece just got a new doctor...my brother didn't say why, but so far, she is still doing ok and has her monthly infusions..?His Delta pilot's insurance wouldn't pay for the medication she was on, so they pay that out of pocket. Remicade, I think.
I think my son and his family are going to have a big adjustment to Maryland weather...Tokyo is like Red Bluff in the snow category...not very often and they never have had to drive in any bad weather: trains all the time, unless they really want to drive their car. They already have a buyer for their car when the visas all come in. Steering wheel on the wrong side for American roads.
I have already changed my bedding and now doing dog bedding.
Beth, Pumpkin was out of state visiting from the looks of her Facebook page...not sure if she is back, yet.
Pat, will Erin be in the conference? Hope you can visualize the rest of us there with you...
My favorite frosting for cakes is Swiss Meringue buttercream...my friend makes it all the time, but she moved. I have her recipes, but just haven't taken the plunge.
I never use the canned frosting...it just seems too sweet and not enough vanilla flavor.
I got my hair cut and colored last night. I had planned on stopping at the store and buying some fish for today, but got to talking afterwards to my stylist about our next shelter dinner and totally forgot and just drove home...so, I am grilling salmon, which I have in the freezer, but I wanted tilapia. White fish just sounds good.
After my two toddlers not being here yesterday, today may be a bit more hectic. It is rainy and will be an indoor day, but I have lots of Spring projects, so,glue and paper will be the entertainment.
I better get moving, although it is so enjoyable sitting here with you all.
                    Have a great Friday!

                        Hello everyone.
It has been a very long day here, but we made it through the day okay.

My MRI yesterday must have been good. Th surgeon had a lot of thoughts how to proceed. We discussed the coming surgery, alternarives,....no matter what, the patient comes first in all considerations. She also ran back and forth discussing stuff with my oncologist. She also plans to attempt to pull in the loose flesh from the splenectomy so my body will look more balanced again. Then she sent me for a blood draw, as I have the low red count issue as well right now.
Then I was sent to pre-anesthesia, down the road, so we could get a feel for what's involved, and they could get a feel for what's right for me.
Next week I will be sent for blood infusions Monday, and maybe one other day before the surgery. I have all the symptoms of that problem. The surgery itself I think is Thursday, and I will be hospitalized for 7 days, as its in my best interest.
The cancer evens to be in one area, has not spread to lymphs or liver at all.

I like women doctors...they seem more caring, more thorough. I have a lot of confidence in these women.
Oh, I'm already wearing a hospital band, and have my place "reserved" in the main hospital for my surgery and stay.
                        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                        Create a beautiful day wherever you go.
