  • FRIDAY ~ NOVEMBER TWENTY ~ TWENTY FIFTEEN

    Good Morning! Woke up at 4, but had 5 hours sleep, so not complaining.

    Janet, God gave you a gift and you have just got to keep using it. Piano teachers are non-existent here. Your new student is one lucky girl.

    I see the garage filling up with wood and hear clanging in the fireplace. Must be getting ready for cold weather around here. So far, we haven't even had to wear a coat.

    I've been given my Thanksgiving assignment. Same every year. Nancy and I make what her daughters-in-law like. Green bean casserole (yuck but easy) mashed potatoes for 17, some kind of salad and rolls. Not too bad. Got all my green beans for $.50 and Campbell's soup for $1.00, at Big Lots. Can't complain about that.

    Speaking of cleaning bathrooms, Sharon, our shower is made of that engineered marble stuff and the pieces are connected by some kind of caulk (not mortar) that still gets moldy. I use Lysol Mold and Mildew and spray it down good once a week. It smells like Clorox, which is hard to take, but I never have to scrub. Just leave it and rinse. I LOVE that stuff.

    Well, better get my day started. I would love to bake a batch of cookies, but I would eat them, so can't do that.

    Have a super Friday!

      Morning all

      Suppose it's time for major weather changes since November is almost over. We are supposed to be down to 38° tomorrow night! Brrrrr! Must dig out my leather coat!

      Nothing much new here. It's Friday and it's my weekend off. Chris works all weekend, so I'm left to my own devices yet again. <sigh>

      BUT Chris has a 4-day weekend for Thanksgiving! I am working a half-day on Wednesday and then have to work Saturday. We will go to his parent's house on Sunday for his Dad's birthday.

      So it's time for more coffee and to get this day rolling. Y'all have a good 'un!

      The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

        Good SUNNY Morning! Lovin' it! Yesterday was a perfect day. Even hung out a blanket to dry..smelled wonderful!

        Yesterday was productive, it just didn't look like it. And would you believe I didn't bake a single thing during the day? Came home from Bible study and then started in on the laundry. 99% of the time if I don't empty the baskets with clean clothes, they just sit there untouched. Once in a while Corky will empty one with underwear, but that's only because he wants what's in it. Anyways, yesterday I emptied and put away every stick of clothing and the same with the ones I washed. The sock drawers are overflowing again. But would you believe my dyer quit heating on the last load. Hopefully it's something simple to fix. Last time this happened Corky just cleaned the vent hose thingy.

        So I was sitting watching TV when the phone rang around 8:45 and it was Jay from the restaurant. He wanted two German Choc pies for today. He debated about getting 9" vs 10"...6 slices vs 8 slices and their appearance. I told him it was his decision. I personally think you get more bang for your buck with the 10" but if you think the 9" pie slices look bigger, get the 9"...I don't care...I just want the business. So I decided to just shut off the TV and made the two pies, then processed to roll out the rest of the pie dough I had made a couple days ago. I now have the crusts ready for our Thanksgiving pies & for the orders I have so far for next Wednesday. Popped them all in the freezer. There was also enough dough to have 3 crusts ready if Jay orders more pies in the next week.

        This morning I have to meet one of my regular customers for her to pick up her sugar cookies. While out I'll go to the bank & to Giant Eagle to pick up their ad specials. I'm hoping to at least get one extra turkey for this winter. They didn't have great sales on turkeys this year. Supposedly there is a shortage. Then it's home to start mixing up cookie dough. Blaise has a 1pm appt with his new pediatrician for a check up and to get the paper filled out for the school as requested. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring. Hopefully some baking.

        Have a good one all!

            Good morning.
            It's 47° right now, going to the high 70's today. At this time next week it'll be in the 50's, maybe a bit of rain.

            I did get a lot accomplished here yesterday, as I posted last evening. Got a couple of calls made as well, for next week's blood test, and for a duplicate magazine subscription they messed up on.
            I had the house to myself, so the chores were easier.

            Today E is supposed to clear out his papers and magazines, plus electronics from the front rooms. I asked him to also get his electric saw off the back porch and store it wherever it belongs. Meanwhile, I will concentrate on the kitchen area and spiff up the bathroom a bit more. Also, I've got a mountain of laundry ready for me again. Also have to deal with next month's family birthday cards, and it's quite a stack! Then I have my C cards to get ready for addressing.

            Then this afternoon I finally have my haircut appointment. Yay!
            Right now I feel very shaggy. Sometimes I wish my hands weren't so stiff, so I could trim my own hair.

            Sassygirl, that cat looks like it has a morning attitude. Reminds me of my Dad. If we heard him getting up, I'd have to prepare his cup of coffee right away so he could start sipping...otherwise, he'd look like that cat! 😉

            To everyone, have a great day!
            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Create a beautiful day wherever you go.
              Good Morning....the sun is coming out and it looks so pretty, but the temp out is 35 with more cold coming...but that is okay, it is November after all..
              Getting my shopping list together for Thanksgiving, not much on it, have bought most of it already.
              With the change in weather comes a major headache, always happens, twice a year, spring and fall. Take my decongestant so I don't hear the swish, swish when I move my head...having Meinere's doesn't help matters any, a change in the barometer affects my balance also.
              Going to put the binding on the quilt today, so hopefully I can get it washed and ready for my son on Thanksgiving..my cats took a liking to it and each time they found it laying somewhere they decided to nap on it, so wash it I must..
              Not much else happening, hubby got back last night and after eating promptly fell asleep in his recliner and started snoring, makes it hard to watch and listen to tv with that noise going on...
              Take care one and all and have a wonderful day.
              Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God
                  Good morning, all. Not too cold this morning.
                  Had fun at the potluck yesterday. Someone brought a mince pie with real homemade crust. Love me some mince pie.
                  Turkey was good, stuffing, real mashed potatoes, gravy, and all the fixin's you could imagine. Apple pie, pumpkin, pie, and mince. Sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts. Can't recall all but it was great.
                  Thinking of making a small apple pie for myself. I have a couple of 6-inch pie dishes so maybe 2 and freeze one or bake both and give one to my neighbor. They are a mother and daughter and the nicest people you could wish to meet.
                  Have to wash dog today. How can a house dog get so dirty?
                  Everyone have a wonderful day.
                      Morning! Going to fix the potatoes for tomorrow and laundry. The worst part of fixing 10# of potatoes is peeling them! I have something naggy in my brain that I need to do today but for the life of me cannot remember what it is. Hate that!! Drew and I took Sierra out for a birthday dinner after school and she picked Olga's....when we got there is was closed and later Jon called to say ours had a fire that morning. Sierra was very disappointed but we ended at Steak and Shake and had milkshakes with our 'dinner'. Tomorrow is our big family Thanksgiving then home to put up the downstairs tree. We normally wait until after Thanksgiving but we will not all be together again for a couple of weeks. The upstairs tree Sierra and I can put together with girly touches at our leisure. Since we are putting up a tree up and down this year Jon needs more track to run two trains. Kids are so excited...yes, even our now 19 year old is excited that for the first time HER train is being run around a tree. Her train was bought her very first Christmas by her grandpa, my husband, but he was gone before that first Christmas so her train has been in a box for all these years. Her mother gave it to her this summer and we will run it around a tree this year. It was a Disney set train and Jon has even ordered two new cars to start completing the set for Christmas this year. I remember after putting the tree up and the boys were in bed that he and I would sit in the dark with the tree lite and run the train...his from when he was a little boy. Just gave myself a nice memory! So while you are all preparing and thinking of Thanksgiving I am jumping a holiday and moving straight into Christmas. I am looking forward to Thanksgiving tomorrow and have my shopping done for the dinner Thursday with my boys. I had to run to two stores to get a turkey breast...some shortage this season but they sure were not on sale. Still plenty of shopping for gifts to do but did some ordering on line yesterday and am leaning to gift cards for what is left. I could still make my Thanksgiving goal if I set my mind to it! Happy Friday all!
                          Just had a fun memory, getting ready to post: Mmmm, donuts.
                          We gave Stuart a Homer Simpson (!) alarm click one year. It was plastic Homer standing in front of a table with donuts saying Mmmm, donuts...until he got up and turned it off!
                          Both our boys had paper routes while they were at home and on Saturday after delivering the paper,would always stop by the Winchell's.
                          ( which was not on the paper route, or on the way home, but was never out of their way!)
