  • MONDAY (LOVE IT OR HATE IT) 2 NOVEMMBER

It feels strange to be here before anyone else! It is a good feeling though! Hello to all who follow me and to all those who are not able to be here. I sure do miss the absent "family" members! In the Catholic Church, November is the month that we remember our deceased loved ones and all the saints in Heaven and all the saints-in-the-making on earth. November 1st is All Saints Day! Today, November 2nd, is All Soul's Day. Weather permitting, there will be a Mass at the parish cemetery. I used to go to that Mass every year, but have stopped as there are too many hills.

I have to admit the sad truth - I used to LOVE Mondays! It meant that I would be at a job I loved! I still miss the parish office - it really wasn't a job for me. It was a labor of love! Retirement has been tough.

I THINK my carpet is almost dry. I am not looking forward to having to put all the stuff back into the closet. I need to call a friend and see if he can wipe out the hard drives on 2 OLD computers that I need to get rid of.

I made myself a cup of coffee and was shaking up the liquid creamer. Unfortunately, I didn't realize I had already shaken it and the lid was open. I had creamer all over the place!

I am going to TRY and go get my glasses and my meds. The glasses are at the place I had my hair done on Thursday morning! I am also going to try and get to book club at lunch time. I cannot drive to Mass as it will be too dark.

    Have a great day!

Oh Val, I can't tell you how many times I have done that exact same thing with the creamer.

    Morning all

It's Monday and my co-worker, Susan, is off this entire week, so I'm covering the reservation desk and doing MY job as well. Oh JOY.

Otherwise, same old, same old. The time change will have me all fouled up for a while - it got dark at 4:50pm yesterday and I was ready to go to bed. Managed to make it through "The Good Wife" before hitting the sack. Woke up in a fine mood and here I am. Ta da!

I'm off to make a pot of coffee for me and my co-workers. Y'all have a good 'un.

      Good Morning.

Val, I always loved Mondays. I loved my job! So glad I chose teaching. Not sure it would be so wonderful today.

Donna, happy you contacted Mickie. I have no idea how to help her get on the RT. Wish I did.

Speaking of apples, my friend Becki brought a gallon of fresh apple cider to church. It was fabulous! She bought it in Gatlinburg.

Rain continues here. It is slowing down our nephew's deer hunting preparations, but we love it, need it, want it.

Better get the day started. Have fun, Everyone.

And a good morning to one and all, like Val said, missing those that aren't here, or here and not speaking..just lurking..stop by, say 'hey' let us know you still care..

Val sorry you got 'rained' on in your apt., but into everyone life some rain must fall...(don't smack me to hard with that wet noodle) Just glad you are in a place to feel a little safer...also hope Bob let's you back in the house...never knew how or why you moved, and what is going on with Bob and the house..glad you have located your glasses.

Well I can tell the time change has already messed with the hubby's head, he gets 'moooooooooody' says he doesn't, but, I am here to tell you he does..he does not like going to work in the dark, getting home in the dark, and at work being in a cubical with no windows...I think I might be affected also. We did go furniture shopping over the weekend, he was leaning toward one of those sectionals with the lounger on one end, after pondering that idea I nixed it and he was none to happy, but hey, its just not something I want..changes living room to much and how things are placed. I am also set on either getting Flexsteel furniture of Smith Bros. so don't bother me with spending my time discussing other furnitures... I walked away while he was looking and talking about a piece of furniture, he got upset, LOL imagine that..so much to look at, limited time, I know what I am looking for, let's just stick with the plan. I listened to his input when we bought the furniture we have now when we lived in IL and have not liked it since we bought it, besides that, all he ever sits in or on is his recliner, so leave the rest of it to me..

Okay, got that out of my system, today will be getting the house dusted, vacuumed, and swept, a steaming of the floors, deciding on supper, and a run to the drugstore..will be heading to GA on Thursday for the weekend, so will have to do a little shopping to pick up a few things for the grandgirls..just dread the long drive there and back..should just fly.

Not liking the time change thing already, cats waking me up way to early, I wake up with a headache each day, when I turn my head it squishes, so it is allergy time once again, need to pick up some meds..also have a few things I need to iron, and will also sew on the quilt again today, getting real close to putting the binding on, this is when I start getting excited to see the end product..well ladies and gents, time to get my day started...have a great day, hope some sun will shine on you, if not, think happy sunny thoughts..

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

Good morning...I was so looking forward to my parents being here for a few days this week well that isn't going to happen this week. They have to much other stuff going on.

I am going to see them this coming weekend. I am going to their house on Friday staying and until Saturday will come home after going to a baby shower for a friend of my mom and mine from church. I am so hoping my sister will be able to give me a ride home from the metro on Saturday.

Today's plan is riding my bike to my sister's to pick up my week money...then catching a ride on the bus...not sure where I am going just yet..I know that I need to go to walmart and I want to go to Goodwill.

Good SUNNY Morning! It was foggy out there first thing.

Yesterday was OK. I was in a funky mood for a while. Sorted through a few areas, organized, and pitched. One of the areas was Kathy's stuff. She just threw things in boxes w/o lids, so nothing stacked neatly out in the garage, which was driving me crazy. I brought in the boxes and went through them, pitched crap, and organized them. I know I probably shouldn't have been going through her stuff, but my house, my frustration. If they would have all been stacked neatly, I wouldn't have bothered them. Now I can get into my little cupboard that has my canning jars. Finally heard from my friend Maureen and she's coming in Thursday evening. DANG! I thought I'd have until late Friday morning before she arrived. I know she doesn't come here to see a perfectly clean house, but it still makes me frustrated. Had a nice evening of playing cards with my Mom, SIL, & cousin. I needed that.

Today is back to reality. Our morning didn't start very good. Yesterday when Corky called in for his start of unemployment thru PA, he got a message that earning figures were wrong, so he had to call in this morning. When he finally got a human being to answer, he found out due to a new law passed last year, that he is $800 short of being able to collect unemployment. We are being tested again. WHY??? We'll make it thru it, but it would just be nice to have smooth sailing for more than a month or two at a time. So he's back out pounding the pavement this morning. He's very disheartened. He feels he has no skills to offer any employer, which isn't so, but he doesn't give himself credit.

In the meantime, I'm working on cooking dinner for my cousin. She can't eat what the rest of the family does, so I've got two meals going at the same time.... lasanga and pork chops. I keep praying I'll get a couple more customers. God knows our needs and He's come through before for us, so I just keep holding onto that. Hey, at least we don't have double house payments and double bills like we did last year!

              Have a good one all!

Good morning, all. IT'S RAINING AGAIN!!! OH HAPPY DAY! I didn't expect it to start so early but I don't care. Of course Lily didn't want to go out so she did her business on her piddle pad and that's OK with me. I have to clean it up no matter where she does it.

Made myself a nice pot of Frijoles Puerco. I used pinto beans, onion, precooked bacon and chorizo, green chiles, oregano and topped with corn chips and Mexican cheese. Yummy! It's one of those things that makes enough for a family so I will freeze part of it.
Also want to make Bolognese Sauce for pasta but that can wait until I get some other pasta as most of what I have isn't suitable.

I got in the Mexican mode when our manager told us we would have a Mexican Christmas party this year. I'm in favor of that but last time we did Mexican my rice pudding was too soupy so I will do something else, probably Christmas Eve Salad. I think that's idiot proof.

Val, you aren't the only one that does things like that. I think it may be a requirement of aging. Knocked a glass off the kitchen counter a couple of days ago and am still finding glass shards so no going into the kitchen in bare feet.

About all for now. Take care everyone.

Val....did you finally remember where your glasses were, or did they call & tell you that you left them there?
Elaine & Barb....glad you are getting your rain. I just wished it'd rain btw 11pm and 5am so that we could have sunny days.

Trying a new roasted yam recipe....will let you know how it turns out. It called for butter & brown sugar, but Karen can't have those, so I substituted more olive oil and a couple packets of Stevia. I used all the spices they called for though. I'm also trying pork chops w/apple sauce in the crock pot. Hoping they turn out tender & tasty. I browned them in the iron skillet before putting them in there. The apple sauce is only seasoned with cinnamon...no sugar. We'll see.

Good morning! Monday is great here. Rain again here! Barb and I are happy together with our weather!
Only three children here so far. The daycare pregnancy mom had her baby yesterday morning, just after the official time change. ( which occurs at 2:00 am)
This time change doesn't bother me at all. The Spring ahead is one that is really hard on kids but not so bad for me.
Becky made cookies using candy corn that turned out so good we immediately took a plate to parents of a friend. It was the first time I had been there without my friend Barbara, too, but we had a great visit and talked non stop for an hour. Today Becky is taking another plate to one of her classes. We will definitely be doing them when the red, green and white candy corn comes out. They will add some yummy color to cookie trays!
I cooked up two big batches of seasoned ground beef and another pit of chicken and froze all three. Now I have emergency food ready if someone needs a meal.
I used my swiffer this morning. Somehow the floors did not get their usual cleaning, just areas where we walk through.
I need to change a diaper ( all three here are diaper guys.)
Have a great day! Love reading about your day!

A grocery trip this morning and tomorrow I will be on the road very early for an 8:00 appointment with the dermatologist. Then a trip to the bank to close out Sierra's account back home and meet my sister for some fabric shopping...I have such high expectations for tomorrow. She will bring the telephone table she refinished and then the next weekend she can grab her husband they will come deliver my new couch table. Today is looking like a whatever day. Can always fill a laundry basket and then iron.

                        Aloha all!

Boffler, I finally learned to ignore what Buddy wanted in furniture , carpets, etc. and ending up with something I hated. Learned to go and just get it myself. He really didn't mind and it saved a lot of frustration on my part. I see you are coming to that conclusion too.

Not sure what I shall be doing today except go to enhanced exercise if I feel up to it. Sure wears me out.

                        Have a good day all!

I called the salon just out of desparation because I could not remember where I had the glasses last. I lucked out because they had them. I lucked out even more because my friend brought me to Publix to pick up my medicines and to the hair salon to pick up my glasses. So I didn't have to drive in the yucky weather. I really wish that I could've gone to bookclub, but I'm not going to risk driving.

I did have a really good breakfast at Cracker Barrel this morning. That was a very pleasant surprise. Usually the food is
And service are the service are bad and the noise level is atrocious and it's too dark in the restaurant. This morning, everything was just right. YAY!!

Besides spilling things, dropping things, breaking things, forgetting things, and all the stuff like that I'm finding out that, as I get older, knowing that my friends and loved ones are going through tough times is harder and harder for me. I want so much to help and there is nothing that I can do except pray. I have several friends whose parents or spouses have passed away recently. And the tough times that Donna, etc., are going through. And the people who are sick. That's the tough part of aging - being helpless and not able to make things better.

                              Good afternoon.
Got my lab work and X-rays done this morning. Then it was lunchtime, so E took me to Denny's to eat....we both ordered breakfast. Despite the surprisingly greasy grill, the onions were not cooked at all, and that was half the omelet filling.
Made a quick stop at the grocery store for fruit, then came home. Back to unfinished chores now.
                              Salads for supper tonight.
                              Ho-hum.

Well, guess I'll get my day going....my heart just ain't in it today, yet. Ever have those kinda days?
