  • Halloween! ~ Oct. 31st

    Morning all Happy Halloween!

I am working this morning to get monthly statements done. Meeting some friends to watch the Florida vs. Georgia game this afternoon while Chris works his 2nd job.

Otherwise, not much new happening here. Y'all have a good 'un!

PS>>> I updated my blog yesterday with a new post about the Danish braids I made last Sunday. Go see it here: https://pbandjustabouteverythingelse.wordpress.com/

And a good Halloween morning to you also. I loved that Danish roll recipe I saw yesterday. Looks so yummy.

Think hubby and I will go furniture shopping today, been wanting a new livingroom sectional since I moved here, will go do some serious looking today, never have bought one off a showroom floor, I don't want what everyone else has been sitting on, always order one..I really like Flexsteel so I hope I find what I am looking for.

Yesterday while grocery shopping, my social meetings, I ran into a neighbor from my very first neighborhood and as we were standing there talking the people from the Deli came by and gave us both a free 8 piece chicken dinner, how cool was that? It's called 'free Friday'. (maybe they just wanted us to move along and stop holding up traffic)

A bit on the nippy side out there this morning, but had to get up, the ole acid reflux was not pleasant and knew if I laid there it would be worse..I have a wedge pillow plu a regular pillow I sleep on so I know if I did not have them it would have not been good.

Hubby called our oldest son last night to see if he would be home today so we would go visit, but he was in Martinsville for the race today, he says he knows he has lots of work to do around her but he just needs a break from job work and home work, and since the son would not be home we decided today would be the day to go shop for furniture and also enjoy the colors of fall while we drive around..

We will be making a trip to GA next week, a short one because everyone works and is in school during the day, but at least I will get to see those grandgirls I miss so much..

Well off to read the news and get my day started...we don't get trick or treaters out here so no candy was bought for tonight...don't get to spooked today...

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

Ditto to Pat's Happy Halloween wishes to all!

I have to go to Walmart to see if they have my glasses. I think I left them at the check-out on Thursday. I wasn't able to get back to get them and I am praying that I can drive today. I also have to go to Publix to get my meds.

I woke up to Christmas movies on the Hallmark Channel! I LOVE these movies. I missed most of A Christmas Carol. It was a musical version and I am ticked hat I missed the first 3/4s of it!

My meeting on Thursday night went really well. Everyone had a good time and they enjoyed the food - they especially liked he Keurig coffeemaker because they could choose their beverage.

I need to get the ingredients for several things I want to bake. I want to TRY and have some friends in for coffee and cake and then maybe try and have some friends over for dinner some night soon.

Pat, do you have the recipe for a Crème de Mint cake? I used to have a god one that I got from the RT Kitchen, but I have lost it.

My lawyer sent Bob a letter telling him that I want access to the house to get some of my things from the house. I hope that I don't have a major legal battle on my hands.

I hope everyone has a safe and Happy Halloween! (I avoid Halloween as I can't do the up and down of having to get to the door to give treats!)

Good Morning! Happy Halloween. Halloween isn't one of my favorite holidays. Growing up my Mom sewed costumes for us 3 kids, but I didn't grow up to be that kind of mom.

Yesterday was productive, and you know I like productive. Started off by making a batch of clover leaf rolls...sort of a failure...learning experience. I warmed the oven to help along the rising process. That was fine, but when I went to bake them, they got over baked & I think that was because the dough was already warm. Anyways, after they were done baking, we headed over to my Mom's to rake leaves. I did most of the raking while my husband tried burning a huge pile of damp leaves...didn't work very well. After an hour of that, he called my brother & they decided to just wait until today. We always dragged the leaves through the neighbor's yard & dumped the leaves in the community wooded area. Well the house got sold this summer and my brother hasn't ask the new neighbor if it's OK to go through their yard. He was going to do that last night. Anyways, my "reward" for all the raking was a very sore shoulder. Don't think I'll be doing much raking today.

Came home, got Blaise off the bus & fed, then headed to the orchard to get my last round of apples. I hit it just right this year. He had 7 variety of apples available in the $5/bushel section. I ended up getting 2 bushels each of 6 different kinds. I would have gotten the 7th kind, but I didn't want to spend all the cash I had. My car is still full of apples because I haven't decided where to store them all. I was thrilled to see these apples are MUCH LARGER than the ones I purchased from him back in September. Quicker pealing! Wished some you all were closer by so I could make you a pie.

After I got home I started in on laundry and got most of it done. Straightened up the pantry and swept carpets. Cork was kind enough to scrub my kitchen floor. Netflix wasn't working very well last night...dang!

This morning I'm trying to make the rolls again. Then we are going back to my Mom's to finish the job. Not sure what the rest of the day will bring.

Callipso...Kathy's one kitty...started the morning off right...she was meowing to come in, rushed in with a dead mouse...she dropped it...I caught her & praised her, and Corky scooped the mouse up & threw it out the door. GOOD KITTY!

          Have a good one all!

Thanks Hrh... I just never would have thought about having an on/off switch on the Thinker part of brain.... so now I know what my problem is. Hi Sharon.. I know what you mean about wanting to see, hold, hug grandgirls!... like an itch that must be scratched!.
Val... are you really allowed to drive?,,, and .yes, push until you retrieve you stuff from the house..

we have no leafs... couple pine trees and a few leaves from neighbor tree that blows away with the Nov. winds.. .yea....and thats one of the reasons we moved to This house.

used up all the leftover goodies in the fridge , will have to cook something new today... maybe go with Sausage, pancakes and eggs. yes, David likes breakfast served as a main meal..

be back later ... have a Good TODAY. all fellow Rounders who are still sleeping .

Good morning was up at 6..but closed my door and went back to sleep...I didn't hear my niece moving about upstairs..I am now up and dressed with venture up stairs in a couple of minutes to see if she is up and still wants to walk for donuts... It was great having her here last night...we had supper together and then she went to my parents room and drew pictures and watched tv...totally enjoying fully control of the tv...I went up at 830ish and set the timer to shut it off in an hour or so...

Today I am starting my day by walking with Reagan for donuts..then I need to make brownies and another halloween treat..headed to one of my sisters best friends tonight for a halloween party...

                  HAPPY HALLOWEEN! 🎃
It'll be a busy morning here after E wakes up. He wants decorations, so HE will retrieve them from storage, and HE will put them out and - at Trick or Treat's end - bring them in and take them back to storage tomorrow. He will set out the folding table and chairs, where we will sit from 6 to 9, and hand out our treat....Tri-color glow necklaces. They help the kids stay visible in the dark.

Yesterday was eventful in getting medical appointments for the next few weeks. Doc wants to be sure my heart is good. I posted about it all in yesterday's thread.

I saw your new blog post yesterday, Pat. Those Danish braids are a keeper! What my mom used to do with a very similar recipe, is just make 3 filled rolled a and glazed desserts - usually Solo's poppyseed filling - we would use 2 for to slice for family get-together treats, and I'd carry the 3rd across the street to my grandparents' house just for them.

Cookie, that apple pie sounds great! Think I'll add some apple and spice to my oatmeal today. Yum!

Well, I'm not so sure that my brain has kicked in this morning yet. Need my hot tea, I think.
Besides, I feel a bit chilly. It's currently 47° outside, but should warm up to maybe 74 today, but back in the 40's at night. A good day to spend in bed with my books. But laundry awaits me and I do want to bake E a surprise pie today. My DD in WA is supposed to call me today and catch me up on things there. Haven't heard from her in a couple of weeks and let her know I was getting concerned and anxious. How did we ever live without email????

Punkin, I hope you find those glasses, and Bob doesn't give you any trouble about getting your things.

Have a very good day, everyone. And a good Halloween evening. 🎃

Pat - If it is the same recipe, I have made it several times and it is great!!!

Janet - Yes, I an legally drive, I just don't have the same confidence I used to have and the weather, the lighting, the roads, the degree of blurriness, etc, all factor in and I have days I am not comfortable driving. In SC, the legal requirement for driving (not motorcycles, trucks, busses, etc.) is at least 20/70 in the good eye. I am 20/60. I truly believe that I would not drive if I think there is any chance that it would not be safe for me o drive.

Donna - I have gotten to hate Halloween because of physical limitations. I used to love it - and I never made a costume for anyone!!!

Today is touch up on the walls and put the living room back together. Jon will work on the floor trim, caulking and touch up while I do the eye level and cleanup work. I still have to paint the kitchen door inside and the new hall door but that is easy work. We were going to get up and going early and it is 9:45 and not anyone stirring but me and I am barely. Rainy and cold this morning. Kids are going to the big Halloween parade back home this evening and Dad may tag along. I will curl up in my jams. This is the first year I have not opened the door to trick or treaters in probably 45 years. There are few kids back here and we worked last night after a dinner break. The boys went one place and the girls another. Sierra is bringing a friend home after work to do the parade with them and I have to provide a meal of some sort. Not that easy since the kitchen table is buried under tons of junk and the floor space stuffed with furniture. But the ceiling in here is beautiful! Years of running an attic fan produced a lot of dirt. Nothing new around here and I am sure you are sick of my house updates...I am tired of making them! Need to find my horn and get these people up and moving. You can't walk a straight line in or out of a room with this mess.

                            Aloha and Happy Halloween all!

Nice and warm here today and I can see the blue blue ocean through the trees. They are having a Halloween party at lunch time and we are all supposed to dress up in a costume. I have my hippy costume from two years ago that I shall wear. Then sometime this afternoon we pick up our box dinners as they are giving all the wait and kitchen staff off as many have kids and want to take them trick or treating. So that is nice.

Have a good day all! And don't let the spooks get you.
