  • Sunday ~ 10/18 ~ National Chocolate Cupcake Day

I'm so glad I got up at 4a and got to discover that today we must all have a chocolate cupcake! I have just enough time to make a batch for church.

Bought a huge box of mini croissants, only to be told by my husband that he doesn't care for them, so making some ham salad to spread on them for church, as well. Thank goodness these people will eat anything!

Hope all is well with everyone. Have a beautiful Sunday.

Good Morning. Chocolate cupcake day, might have to go buy some Hostess Chocolate crème filled cupcakes...

Went to our sons house in MI yesterday, he and hubby worked on getting fence post out of the ground and clearing the area of brush, sticks and weeds, made a nice big burn pile but to windy to burn. I was inside working on a sewing machine for his girlfriend, it was no use, time for it to go to the shop, I gave it to her as I have a new one. We then took them out to eat and then headed back home before the OSU football game came on. Oh but I did go out and pick some apples off of his tree, came home made apple crisp, those apples are so good, crisp and a little tart, need to go back for more, been all these years and I never knew he had such good apples on his tree and it is loaded, will need to go back and get more, make some apple butter, applesauce, and make up apple pie filling and can in jars, and also freeze some apple slices.

Today I plan on slicing meat and marinade it then into dehydrator for jerky, love homemade jerky so much better than store bought. My protein source. Will be making cube steak browned then covered with tomato rice soup and pepper rings baked for about an hour...along with mashed taters and some green beans..

I bought croissants yesterday also Elaine, only the big ones, plan on having them for breakfast, hot ham and cheese croissants...yummy...but also bought enough to have chicken salad sandwiches on them this week.

hrhouse, we put down river rock all around our house this summer, first preen, then landscaping cloth, then the rock, we just used the black edging 'stuff' on the outside edges...we had 6 ton hauled in and could still use more...wanted something that didn't have to be replaced each year and I love river rock...anything we plant is low maintenance...love those hostas..need more.

Can't believe the temp outside is only 33 degrees, I have to get busy and buy some winter clothes, long sleeves especially and also some jackets/coats and some boots...I detest shopping, but I must since losing the weight I have to start all over again. But I feel enriched that I was able to give my clothes to a lady that really appreciated them, was so thankful, has boosted her self esteem, and she was able to share some with others less fortunate, makes the heart and soul feel so good.

Well now that I have written my book, I shall move along, read some news, finish my coffee and get my day started, and maybe make enough noise that it will wake the hubby also..

oh and JoG, have those ball needles, not working, think it is the bottom setting on the blasted thing that is totally off...it will go to the shop for timing and adjustment...got it to work on certain settings, but once you changed them it would bunch up again. I am putting my quilt together by hand sewing and even when that thread gets tangled and mangled it upsets me, LOL...

Have a great day one and all...may the good Lord bestow blessings on all of you...look for the ray of sunshine in any dark day..Hugs

      Good Sunday morning.......

OUCH !! I feel like a giant Rice Krispie this a.m. -- SNAP-CRACKLE & POP. There's not a square inch of this old person that isn't aching. BUT.....we moved 7 bushes & shrubs and got about 1/2 the landscape timbers in place. And today's NOT a day of rest for the old folks. We'll finish today and be ready for the rock to be delivered sometime this next week.

Brrrrr......cold here in the sunny south - 43º. Sweat pants & flannel shirt to work in today.

      Gotta go.......later. Enjoy !!

        Good morning.
We must have had rain all through the night. It started about 7pm and gently kept falling. Even the thunder was gentle. This morning the concrete is wet, the low areas of our yard are flooded. Still, the high temps are in the 80's, but the refreshing night temps are in the 60's. Meanwhile, though the skies are clearing up (for now), rain is also predicted today. (Do the weather people really believe that???!) We shall see, I guess. I see that in a week the night temps should be dipping into the 50's. Yay!

Yesterday we got me a new cover for my small iPad; then went to Frys (Kroger) for our flu shots, then did some grocery shopping.
Today my flu shot arm hurts. Well, that started yesterday evening, but is more so today. One year I got the shot in the back of my shoulder, and had no after-effects. I shall remember to ask for that in the future.

No particular plans for today. A load or two of laundry maybe.
Check the winter clothes bin and switch out some clothes.
If the yard dries out today, maybe a chore or two o there.

        Have a great day! 🙋🏼

Good SUNNY COLD Morning! Woke to a layer of slush on the car & porch. BRRRRR!!!

Yesterday was good. Started the day off making 2 lemon meringue pies. Found out last time that a single batch of lemon mixture is too much for a deep 9" pie but not enough for 2 pies, so this time I made a recipe & a half which was perfect for two 9" pies. The one pie was for a customer order and the other was for my SIL who LOVES LM pie. My SIL did order a dutch apple pie and I got that baked too. Then it was onto mixing up 5 kinds of cookie dough and baked off 2 of them. Also made some bread. Made up some goodie bags for my niece & nephew who are headed back to college after dinner at their other grandma's. My SIL only knew about the apple pie, so she'll be pleasantly surprise when she picked up the basket full of pies, cookies, and bread on their way to church this morning. Left it out on the enclosed porch for them.

Blaise was invited to a Halloween party last night. You can definitely tell Blaise is one of the younger kids in his class. Some of the other kids are almost a whole year older than him because they have spring birthdays and their parents held them back a year. MUCH taller than him. Guess I better start watching for pants on sale because he'll be in 7's before I know if he grows like the rest of the kids that are 6 already. He had a good time at the party and I got to chat with the other moms.

This morning was church and now I have to decide what I'm going to bake & cook for the day. I want to bake off at least 2 more cookie dough batches and then make some different things for dinner. I'm hosting cards here tonight. It's going to be my Mom, SIL, and Mom's friend Dorothy. Need to go to the store to get milk and buns. Maybe I'll get Corky to go to Aldi's for me....just asked...he rolled his eyes, but he's going to do it.

If I made choc cupcakes, I'd want choc PB icing on them....yum and dbl yum!

          Have a good one all!

Never thought I'd say this but we need rain...so dry and nothing this month. Yesterday we went to the mall but only found one sweater she wanted. Pretty little thing but not much on sale. Then went grocery shopping. I am shopping more and more at Ruler (Kroger) and less and less at walmart. Bought things for soups...everyone is always running in and out here on different schedules and now that winter is coming I feel the need to feed them better. I have also found if you cook it and put it in front of Andrew he is more likely to eat it if you do not tell him in advance what we are having. He eats constantly and is not picky in his junk food but a meal he can pick to death! Sierra is just plain picky about everything in the soup family. She is still excited about her celebrity sighting yesterday! Hockey this afternoon and laundry. We are either the cleanest family in the subdivision or the dirtiest...always a pile of laundry. Son worked another double last night and I think or working day tomorrow may be a slower than normal one. If he works another double tonight I know we will not work on that darn door. 3 in a row is rough with only one day off after. As you can read I have nothing of interest to write so I will pour another cup of coffee and decide if I will start my day or not.

              Aloha all!

They use croissants here a lot and slice them in half length wise and make sandwiches out of them. Very popular. In fact I had one for lunch yesterday with egg salad between. Yummy.

Not sure what I shall be doing today. Supposed to get up to about 90 and will be muggy. I have gotten so I wear mostly shorts (Bermuda length) as do most here. Just too hot for long pants.

              Have a good day all!

                good afternoon.

had a good sleep- in... a very busy day yesterday..spent most of a wonderful couple hours with my granddaughter Hannah... we Made yeast Buns ,,.about 3/4 or a recipe.. while that was raising , we made two apple cakes.. one for her ( to take back to school ,wrapped and frozen in single pieces ).. She did the actual mixing up of the bread dough.. with tips from Nana... but mostly we talked.. I told her details of family live before her time... things that I wish I would have talked to my grandmothers about . still have lots to tell her.... and she told me about college classes. and what she is aiming for.. just a grand day!. A new baby , and a great visit with Hannah.. then came the "bad News"

my Dr. office called. and confused my poor hubby.. I got lab work done Friday morning . and my potassium lever was really low... but he did not understand what they wanted... . the girl at the office called Karen and explained it to her.. I am to eat a banana, and drink one cup of orangejuice every day and get the lab work done again this coming Friday.. I'm not really worried about it.. I looked up what causes this and the only thing on the long list pertaining to me ..... was ,,,if I am taking a diuretic pill ..or have poor eating habits.... I am both of those.. I have not been eating foods that are recommended for high potassium....so I will gulp down the juice, the banana, yogurt. baked potatoes and get some sweet potatoes. I have been feeling tired and achy.. but just assumed that was called "old people " disease.. but they sure had David in a STATE...
Lets just hope this lab work is the last episode of doctoring we have to do this month

so now today.. David , football.. ....me ,catch up on computer stuff ,, and sleep, and read.. perfect.

ps.. Hrh .. love the comparison to Rice Krispies... soooo true
Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

Funny to hear you wearing shorts while the rest of us are digging out our woolies. Pretty leaves or no pretty leaves...trees changing colors mean one thing around here...cold! I envy you Nalani! And Jo and Pat, I could take a cool night if it brought a hot day. Already I miss summer....and yes I will take cheese with the whine. Anything that will produce a warming layer of fat is welcome.

Hi everybody. Too many to name individually. I went to mass and Adele dead this morning and it was really chilly out. We also have a frost warning for the morning. I don't have any plans so I don't have to worry, but lots of my friends are starting to get concerned. I really would rather be the ones wearing shorts back to the way they were instead of having to get out my Wolens! I am not looking forward to winter. It really is scary.

I've got to go make myself some lunch. I have not a clue what I want to eat. I'm just gonna have to play it by ear. I hope everybody has a wonderful day!!

Last year towards the end of the summer season I purchased two pair of denim capri's for $2 each and I sure have gotten my money's worth out of them this summer. Love them! Wearing them still today. I miss summer already too Maxie.

I've been in the kitchen all afternoon. Baked my cookies and made some horseradish potato salad and a batch of asparagus pasta. Now I'm ready for company.

Only 5 more days until Becca is home for the weekend.

Bought pork loins and cut into cubes, made up my spice mixture, put it all in a freezer bag, shake it up good, let it marinade overnight, then tomorrow will put it through the meat grinder twice, and then make it into 2 oz. sausage patties to freeze...love homemade sausage patties...Next it will be getting the beef sliced to make beef jerky, hubby will slice it, I will make the marinade, let it sit overnight and put it in the dehydrator tomorrow.
And hubby is outside picking up walnuts...we have plenty, anyone wants any they are yours for the picking..

Oh man, if I still lived in Shelby, I'd be up there pick up nuts. I just bought 20lbs of walnuts this past week for $4.99/lb.
