  • MELANCHOLY MONDAY COLUMBUS DAY - 12 OCTOBER

Good morning everyone! It must be Columbus Day because my sister's birthday was Saturday and she was born on 10 October! I miss the good old days when we celebrated holidays on their correct day AND schools were closed! Plus, there weren't any good sales at Walmart!

I am HOPING that it will be a nice day. The boil water advisory for Columbia was lifted finally. (At least in one area. I don't know if all areas can stop boiling their water.) Roads are still caving in and trees are still falling in many places.

I am wide-awake exhausted! I want to sleep and can't. I have tried watching movies on the Hallmark Channel and Netflix, working on some paperwork that I have to have for the lawyer on Tuesday, and more paperwork for a meeting on Thursday. I even tried reading some of the book for book club. Nothing worked. I DO NOT want to have to take sleeping pills.

I did get a lot of old papers sorted through and now I have to shred them, but I will wait till later to do that. I have no idea how loud my shredder is.

I need to get my nails done. Maybe I can do that after book club. Maybe the stupid ATMs will work!

Well, I guess I will try again to see if I can get some sleep!

I hope your day is a good day!

"God loves us so much, He gave us friends!" Amen! http://roundersonline.org/core/images/smilies/smile.png

Good Morning! I can't believe nobody else has come yet. I slept in until 7:45 since Blaise doesn't have school & I have no baking orders. Whaaahooo!!!

Yesterday was good. After church I just puttered around all day until it was time to go play cards. I washed 10 loads of Kathy's laundry. I went out & opened one bag of her clothes & just about tossed my cookies. The smoking stench was awful and our garage was smelling like it too, so I just decided to do them all and organize it down there since she doesn't have a bedroom. I don't want her smelling when she goes for a job interview. I also got rid of the stuff that has holes and stuff that is WAY too small. You don't weigh in the high 100's and fit into a size Small. I then got inspired to make some chili, sloppy joes, and an apple pie. Took the pie with me. We had a great time. My Aunt P was in a funny sassy mood and at one point we were laughing so hard there were tears.

Not sure what all today will bring. Need to do some paperwork. In the mood to bake some cookies. My niece Makenzie is a majorette in her college band and tonight they are performing at a high school band festival about an hour away, so we decided last night we'd go see it since it was so close. Now hopefully is doesn't get too cold.

Hope you got some much needed sleep Val.

    Have a good one all!

Good Morning to all...got back from camping/family reunion around 6:00 p.m. the trip back seemed a whole lot longer than getting there..we got lucky and found a camp spot, some they do not reserve but have along the side as you come into the park, worked great, 50 amp service, best of all, my sister and hubby stayed with us..like my hubby says I pack and cook like we will be gone for two weeks, LOL...never know, pays to be prepared. The reunion was so nice, can't believe how many years it has been since I have seen my aunts, uncles and cousins...lots of food, laughter and fun. I do love camping, but this was our last one of the season, time to get the motorhome ready for winter.

Donna, I can well imagine the smell, once I stopped smoking and would get into containers I had with clothes in them, I know what you mean...so glad that myself, my home, my car, etc. does not smell of smoke..best thing I ever did for myself, my health, money!!! I am going to the store and shop for baking needs also, for some reason I am in the mood to bake, thought it would be a great time to get my pie crust made and in the freezer since I do not know what or when I may get down and out again...

Maxie, I don't envy you with the situation with Sierra/Mother, having been divorced myself I know you walk on eggshells and watch all things you say and do hoping to get the child to stay with you and become a good person..but the other influence from the parent can make your life miserable...(my ex's influence was drinking/gambling) and to the kids that was so much fun...and here at the house we were boring, LOL...

Good luck with the paperwork and court dates Val, they are our children no matter what age they are, we love them, worry about them as if they were still young..

Hoping everyone has a good day, hoping to see some sunshine here today, plan on washing all the sheets, towels and other things from the motorhome today, get them done and in a tote for next season. And a run to the store...looking forward to more checking in today.

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

Good morning. Have a nice Columbus Day!
Today will be 92° and mostly cloudy ---- the temps hadn't climbed as fast after all, as was predicted. We need to do some yard cleaning today, so the weather is perfect (if we don't get those winds!!!).

I'm up an hour later than usual. Am I using your sleep time, Val? 😉 You know, methinks you need to learn to relax despite the adversities that creep up. "This, too, shall pass." Don't dwell on problems; tomorrow is another day, you can do that then.

No baking, Donna? Really? Guess the laundry is enough to deal with. Do you have the No Smoking inside your house rule?

Sharon, I'm glad everything worked out for you after all.

I like that tune, Barb. But no avoiding sunshine in the desert unless the clouds have a "reunion" overhead. Like today. My trees are still too young to give us any real shade....the downside of the big winds we've been dealing with the last few years.

Hey Beth....how are you settling in, in your new home?

Well, I desperately need some hot tea thins morning, then have to wake up E so we can get a start on the yardwork.

            Have a great day, everyone!

I too got back from camping yesterday...it was great fun...but like boff it is my last camping of the season as I sleep in a tent...and I got cold the 2nd night..not so much the first night. I loved sitting around the campfire and exploring surrounding towns on Saturday.

I am settling things are really stressful here right now..my sister and I really got into it yesterday. I am not taking all the blame nor am I laying all the blame on her....but she is really mad at me...she thought I was being demanding...I could have sounded like that to her but I was not being demanding..so when she started yelling I started crying....I don't deal with being yelled at well...I realize we all were/are exausted...meaning non of us have patients to be with each other or around each other....Just because her life is full of stress right now doesn't give her the right to take it out on me...but just because I am tired and not feeling the greatest doesn't mean I have right to yell at her...

I have several chores that need to be done in the next day or two...as I am leaving for my parents on Thursday sometime...I am going back to help with a hot air balloon event in Mount Vernon...I am signed up with the same pilot that I worked with last year....my friends are also signed with the same pilot...we all had a ball last year.

Also I need some reccomendations...My dad let it slip that they are going to let me get a cat for my birthday in Jan.

                Good morning.

Was playing on the puter to locate the area that I will spend the winter. Turns out to be a nice area according to google map. Have work to do today as I will be playing tomorrow.

                Everyone have a good day.

We had such a productive day yesterday! Figured out the problem in the hall and it was such an easy fix we laughed about bickering for two days over it. Kitchen is now completely painted. We are not replacing the cabs...geeze, has anyone priced THAT lately?, but will replace the splash board and counter tops, yay! a dishwasher soon. So the kitchen is not finished but the eating area is. Did not paint one brush stroke in the living room but all we need is the ceiling painted. Sent for a swatch of curtain fabric I keep coming back to. The valances are so expensive and I want to make sure they will match the side panels. I can also buy the fabric and my sister volunteered to make the valances. I just have my heart set on them so maybe the color will change my mind. If not we will have curtains soon. No word on the doors being in but we had figured closer to November anyway...no matter what the store says. I know you are all pretty sick of our house and my curtains but that rules my thoughts. Sierra returned home in a semi decent mood but brought in dirty clothes. Andrew is gone until Thursday when we may carve pumpkins. The neighbor carved a 40# one yesterday and Drew thought that was fantastic. When he left he requested pork chops Thursday so that menu is complete already. Lots of running to do today and a ball game to boot. Go Cardinals....boo Cubs!

                    Morning all

Nothing new here - yesterday was absolutely gorgeous! We drove out to the beach and met Chris's niece, Cait, for lunch at a cute little place called Hook'd Pier Bar & Grill. Right on the Gulf next to the County Pier. We split an order of grilled shrimp tacos with a mango pico de gallo - oh, my stars! It was heavenly! And biggest surprise is Cait bought our lunch!

Got home and cooked dinner - pot roast, mashed taters & gravy, carrots, roasted butternut squash, and white acre peas. Even made homemade banana pudding. I was super stuffed!

So tonight it's leftovers - with the addition of corn muffins.

Slow day at work and am thinking of leaving early. Y'all have a good 'un!
The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

                      Aloha all!

Well the camping tips seem to go off well for some of you. I do miss doing that sort of thing but have my memories and photos of those fun times.

I have and early morning dentist appointment and am not looking forward to that. But it should be the last dentist appointment for a while thank good ness.

Not sure what else the day will bring.

                        What happened to my morning?
Guess it is a "better late than never" kind of day.
I have less kids but more crying today
And now it is about 3 hours into this post!
Maye, I haven't seen a message but will look better.
Promise to get here earlier tomorrow and hope your day is good.
