  • Rise and Shine this early Thursday Morning 10/08/2015

    Good Morning, good morning...what does a person do when they can't sleep? Get up and start cooking!! Got the baked beans in pan and ready to travel, got some bake steak in the oven to take to warm in micro while camping, and almost done with the dessert. Now what will I decide to make next? I think it is the Prednisone that is keeping me awake this morning...but it is a much needed med to keep me able to do things. Hubby took a days vacation today to get us ready to leave in the morning..such a good hubby. I have a cat walk thing on my back deck, I open the door and the kitties go in it, they have been in and out of that thing a dozen times already this morning, but at least I know they are safe but still get to enjoy the outdoors a little bit.

    Looking forward to seeing aunts, uncles cousins that I have not seen since 2005 when my Mom passed away, should be a good time, hope the weather is nice.
    I have some pictures to take and give to them, my Mom had them, lots of family members, all in black and white..
    Will get the house in shape today, always like to come back to clean sheets and a clean house..I did get my shopping done yesterday also.
    Well not much else happening here, might not be here in the morning or until Monday....
    Have a great big ole beautiful day one and all..
    Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

      Good morning, Boffler and all who are to come later! You are soooo chipper - are you sure it is isn't later than 6:45am? I am up, but I am sure not awake! I am still yawning! I will go back to sleep for a little bit. I am going to breakfast with some friends and one will pick me up at 9:15am.

      I used to love camping and I miss it now. I hope you have a great time. Enjoy your family and have fun and good food! Will you be able to post while you are gone?

      It is 53 degrees outside and that's a bit chilly for me. It is supposed to get up to 78 and be clear/ That will e great. Winter seems to be coming up faster than I want. I d not like winter any more. I used to LOVE it, but now the thought of snow and freezing temps makes me want to hibernate!

      Take care everyone and have a great day. I can't wait to get coffee and breakfast!! The restaurant we are going to has great grits. There coffee is so-so. I think I will cheat and make myself a cup before I take my "power nap!"

      See y'all later!

        Good Morning.

        Sharon, have a wonderful trip! Sounds like all kinds of fun.

        Val, enjoy breakfast.

        Janet, hope you and David can get some help and information.

        I had a very restless and sleepless night. I don't usually sleep for long, but I definitely don't wake up every half hour or so. Strange.

        I'm still working on my cleanout. Going pretty good.

        Hope you all have a good Thursday.

          Well, an early day for me. I woke at 3:30 but sat and drank my first cup of tea before coming here. Still having cool night and warm days. Just right but still no rain in sight.

          I have a few things to do today so will go for it while I'm feeling good. Change sheets, go to Neighborhood Watch meeting at 10:00, then I hope to get my dress cut out. It should be a breeze but I sort of wish that I had picked a sturdier fabric. Light weight Poly is hard to work with because it slithers worse than anything.

          Still haven't changed the time so it looks like we're all much later. Think I will do that now since I can't go camping.

            Lots of early birds and look at me..I am never up this early! We are driving down to my sisters for lunch and she will make some alterations on Sierra's new pants...like cut a foot off the bottom. Nice to see all you happy and healthier people up and around. First hockey game of the season for the Blues tonight and looks like the Cardinals play the Cubs tomorrow. Can not wait!!

              Mornin'..........Sharon - you ask too much ! I'm risen but sure ain't shinin' . Have mountains of laundry to do now that we're 1/2 way back to "normal" with the flood waters. Was in the midst of the loads of towels last night.....the dryer quit ( and it's only 6 months old. I lead such a charmed life......can't wait to see what's just around the bend waiting for me. WR fixed it though.....'twas only the circuit breaker. He replaced it w/new one and we're good to go this a.m.

              Maxie....could you tell me again where you moved to. I missed that part in amongst my fog sometime during these past few months. Kinda traumatic up-rooting a whole lifetime and starting a brand new adventure, isn't it ?

              Hope everyone's day turns out to be good for all. See you later.

                Good morning! It is dark out but some bird is singing away! Even the kids noticed the birds chirping away when we are outside. Gary was my go to bird expert. I will have to research to see why all the activity.
                Our weather is like BarbCa said: cool nights but warm (90's) afternoon. And no rain...
                My Fall decorations are all up. Pumpkin patch this weekend. I always buy a bunch of the little ones in the grocery store for the kids to do different activities and songs.
                I am running late and need to go unlock the door! I traded treadmill time for hair this morning! Better go take out the three rollers I have on top or I will look really funny opening the daycare!
                Have a great Thursday!

                  Good morning, everyone.
                  Well, I made it here. Had trouble all day yesterday trying to sign in. The sign in wouldn't accept my password, so had to change it. It refused the next one, then blacked out a validation code, so I started over...finally gave up. Today I managed to get into my account and make changes there. Now....will it all disappear in 24 hours, or will it be okay as is??? Fingers crossed.

                  Today is nice and sunny, no foreseeable rain and the temps will be back in the 80's.
                  Have some laundry waiting to be done. Have to call for Dr appointment for swelling feet and flu shots.
                  Got my grocery shopping done yesterday. I thought I stocked up on tomato soups...E put them away in the garage cupboard (my extended pantry over my deep freezer), and complained it's all veggie soups. I
                  Need to go look at it....progreso makes a few different tomato soups, but it's all tomato soup. (I like variety, E doesn't. But often can't tell much difference between tomato soups, some chunkier than others, is all.)

                  Lots of early birds here this morning....I still need to get my tea, or will I want mocha? Whatever. ☕️
                  Sharon, have a fun trip and visit. 😃. Your excitement is contagious.

                  Barb, I like to stick with stretch/knit fabrics. It's very forgiving and IMHO easier to sew, using ballpoint needles. I took a Stretch & Sew class years ago and learned so many sewing tricks, I never went back to other fabrics. I think stretch fabrics are more comfortable, too. My girls had lots more clothes & tops during that time. I didn't buy fabric at the S&S store, I just went to check the feel of the fabric on each project. Then got my fabric that felt the same at smaller store, saving 60-80% of the cost. My 1st project I bought their pattern/fabric kit, and was shorted on the fabric, which they wouldn't replace, so I felt no guilt in buying elsewhere after that.

                  Have a wonderful day, everybody! ☀️

                    Aloha all!

                    Oh, Sharon, I do envy you going camping. Buddy and I did so much in our little 22 foot trailer. Such fun! Have a wonderful time.

                    Barb, glad your hubby got the dryer going.

                    ~~~~~~~~~~~to all. E
                    Eye appointment went well yesterday and I don't have to go back for a year. Hope I'm still alive by then. At my age one never knows.
                    Big doings here today as our oldest resident is 104 today. She has lots of family here to help her celebrate. She is only two doors down from me at the end of our long hall. Using a walker she makes her way at least 3 times a day for meals. Sharp and feisty Bertha is. A delightful lady.
                    Have done my laundry already and right after breakfast will head to Longs (CVS) and Safeway. Defrosted my little fridge freezer last night and need to stalk up on two lean Cuisines and two little ice cream containers. That and ice is about all it will hold.
                    Have a good day all!
                      I did enjoy breakfast and now I am getting my butt in gear and getting my card lists corrected and ready to get my Christmas mailing out! My problem - I had to put tem into an Excel database and I haven't a clue how to get labels printed from an Excel spreadsheet. HELP!!!!
                      I have a meeting tonight and kinda wish I could stay home. Oh well, I will enjoy it once I get there. It is a hassle having to ask people to drive me everywhere. I am trying to get to Walmart tomorrow to get my hair done and get some groceries, etc.
                      Nalani - Have you checked your PMs lately?
                      Maye - you snuck in while I was typing and I missed you. How did David's appointment go? Somehow, I seem to worry about folks with eye problems!
                        to all concerned.... the lady directly above this post is not responsible for her actions.. shes a wee bit touched in the head.. anyone thinking it was time to get their C. mailing list out Today... you know.... we are all looking at pumpkins , the real ones.
                        and getting ready for Halloween!!!... poor dear... skipping ahead in time is the first sign of ......... well.. its a bad sign.
                        Sorry Val.. tee hee..
                        Thanks Val. for asking about. David ..
                        D. appointment . turned out sort of like I figured it would ... he is scheduled with 4 tests.. a nerve test on his right hand.
                        a test for some artery in his chest...more lab work.... ...the Dr. read the letter from the eye dr.. and then just dropped the subject.. as I was leaving i complained to the lady at the desk that I was dissatisfied with the lack of concern for the double vision.. that I don't let D. drive etc etc... so Nurse went back to his office , and he ordered an appointment with a neurologist
                        ....but that wasn't available until DEC.. if he has any more episodes. call or go to emergency room?..finally an appt. for next regular checkup and follow up on all the above.. in Dec. with YET another different Dr.. who has an office about 1 1/2 from our house... that part is nice..
                        came home ..made a light lunch .. set down and promptly went to sleep. exhausted.. decisions make me tired.
                        Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.
                          Sounds like you're making progress for D, Maye. That's a good thing, even though it's taking a bit of time.
                          I'm not totally satisfied with medical personnel these days. E wants to move back to Phx where there is a Mayo hospital. I'd be closer to my kids there, but it's hotter and dryer there, they have been hit by some haboobs (heavy dust storms), so it's a toss up. Hate driving in Phx though....one of the worst places I've seen for crazy drivers.
                          Maybe you haven't noticed that some stores are already putting up C decorations, not far from the Halloween candy, and I've seen nothing of Thanksgiving items except on the magazine stand. There should be a law.....one Holiday at a time! I'm already getting "free" C cards in the mail....will not sent the C donations this early! None at all for return labels with our names messed up. (They apparently think E is a gay black man whose partner has the same name!) 😅
