  • October 3rd ..... Saturday

Good Morning! Everyone must be sleeping in. I know I slept in until 7:30, which is unheard of for me, but it felt good.

Yesterday was dreary but dry until evening. After dropping off the pies I headed to Saxonburg for my ultra sound appt. Got there & found out the machine was broken down. I had left early so I could drop off the pies & a cookie order. If I hadn't left so early, I would have gotten the phone call that told me the machine was broken down. Oh well. So I headed into Butler to shop at the Salvation Army Thrift store. Didn't find many discounted items, but I found items needed. For $60 I got Blaise 3 winter coats, a jacket, 3 jammie bottoms, and sweatshirt, 2 Halloween costumes, & a pirate hat. I got 2 jammie bottoms and Corky 3 jammie bottoms. Came home and made the cupcakes. The boxes SAY they'll make 24 cupcakes, but it's more like 15 and I needed 35. I ended up making a 3 batch of cake batter from scratch, which was a bust....I stay with boxed mixes, thank you very much. Got the iced and boxed. Corky grumbled when I kept the big cake box my Mom's 80th birthday cake came it. Guess what got used yesterday? Then Linda called around 3:30 with today's pie order....10 pies. It actually turned into 12 because I forgot to turn down the oven from 400 to 375 after the 15 minutes and the cherry pies came out too toasty, so scooped the filling out of both and made new pies.

Not sure what all today will bring. Delivering pies & cupcakes, of course. I may sit down at the stand with Linda and hand out cookie samples and Christmas cookie lists. May. It's awful chilly and raining. IF the pies sell today, then I'll be baking pies for tomorrow for the last time this season since they are closing down after tomorrow. I'm ready for the break.

    Have a good one all!

    Good morning, everyone.
I woke at 5 this morning (getting back on track). Summer definitely is behind us....it's totally dark outside. We are dropping to 91° today, then will be in the 80's for the next few days, with rain forecasts.
The weatherman said the Monsoon is behind us, so any rain now is simply a "fall rain".

I think I'm gaining weight reading about Cookie's pies and cookies. I don't see how you do it all, Donna!

Well, haircut day for me today. Am soooooooo overdue. But September was a difficult month for us both; the virus we caught was like being hit with a bat, then trying to function through that with our prearranged plans.
As for this month, we were debating what to do for Halloween. 🎃 So far we are leaning toward skipping it, and going out to dinner. We get 250 kids every year at our house, and that's a lot to prep for. That doesn't account for the parents/relatives accompanying all the younger ones. We will see how things go.
To think we just bought a skeleton that "plays a guitar and sings "La Bamba". We don't dare leave that guy outside unattended. Our last skeleton was tied to a child's chair which was tied to a tree with yarn that wasn't visible at night; someone tried to drag it away but only succeeded in permanently damaging it.

Well, the pre-dawn light has arrived. Guess I'll get some breakfast.

    Have a great day! 😄

      Good morning all.

The camping trip was a lot of fun. My cousin and his wife had a fishing contest, which I think my cousin's wife won, was spoiled by rain all day on Tuesday. It actually started around midnight, and didn't even quit until I got home. Not bad for a 20% chance. I had 1 1/2 inches in my rain guage.

Today is the Heath Harvest Fest, and we got rain over-night with another 20% chance. Haven't been out yet to check the guage, but it appears to be just enough to make things messy to walk around to see everything downtown. May end up going only to the parade that starts at 1:30p.

Will be making a roast, potatoes and carrots for tomorrow's lunch. Have been a bit hungry for that for a while now.

Everyone have a great day, no matter what your weather is.
Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.

Good Morning, another late start for me, earplugs really help!! Another rainy, cold, blustery day here, turned the heat on, to old to worry about the bill and such, comfort is the key, my old bones need warmth. Which also brought to mind that I need a winter robe for the cold months..and new house slippers..

jostoy, glad you had so much fun, anytime you are out in the woods or primitive you are a happy camper...you need a log cabin in the woods.. hopefully you can enjoy your day, the Heath Festival was a favorite, miss going to IGA and getting the bits and pieces they sold from the Health bars, my hubby loves the Heath bars, Heath blizzards, etc. so do I...now I am craving Heath bars..

No big plans for us today, hubby will run the sweeper, have Pasta Fagiolia soup in the freezer, all I have to do is cook the small pasta to go in it...sounds good with some fresh parmesan cheese over it..and garlic toast.

I want to finger shop and find a quilting frame so I can put my own quilts together, use to use a big ring and do them by hand, need something bigger to hold a king size quilt. Growing up my Grandma had a quilt frame that hung from the ceiling in front of the wood stove, she would let it down during the day and sit and sew on her quilts all day and at night, put it back up...for eye hooks on the ceiling, rope that it hung from, and four wooden strips of wood with pegs so it could be rolled as she completed each section. Oh what a good memory, which came with the smell of her food cooking of the old cook stove..

Well off to spend some time with the hubby before he heads out to the pole barn...he can't be still, he has to be doing something all the time, I am not complaining, just wish he was a bit more organized about it..

Have a great day one and all..

Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

            Good Morning!

No. I didn't sleep in. Never do. Wish I could.

Got 2 huge bags full of stuff out of the office and into the trash. CD's by the carloads with old yearbooks, documents, photos, recipes. Papers and more papers. All gone. Yay!

Ballgame at 12, so gearing up for that. Meat defrosting for supper. Chicken fried steak. For John. Not me.

            Have a super Saturday!

Dug out my fluffy robe and switched out some winter clothes. Need my sweats and long sleeves handier now. Drew came in with an upset stomach yesterday and slept most of the time he was here. They have a big weekend planned so hope he makes it. Today Sierra and I are attending a wedding. It is down the road at the college but the reception is quite far so we will only go to the church. Since we will be all duded up maybe we will go someplace nice for dinner. She has been spending a lot of cyber time with a guy from work but they are both very shy and I can't get her to move on it. She has a long break on Wednesdays between classes and he has been staying after his classes to sit with her. Mommy dearest really stunted her socially and I think I see signs of her waking but then she backs off scared. Those high school years are when you learn to deal with relationships and guys in general and mommy kept her tight. Even her dad is pushing a little AND she did ask for those new clothes. So they both go to the same college, he sits with her every Wednesday afternoon, they work together, spend every other hour texting....take it to the next level why don't you?! DATE! Wish someone would come in and fix a big fat breakfast for me but since I do not see that happening I guess I scrounge around and see what is loose for me to eat. No sun and breezy...you never know what to wear in the fall. Right now I am pretty sure it is colder in here than outside.

It must be a sleep in kind of Saturday; at least the kind of sleeping in early birds do. I slept till 7:00 after getting up twice with the lab in the middle of the night. And our nights are now cool enough she actually came into the bedroom the last time she went out and slept on her bed. Usually, she has been in the living room on the tile or under the ceiling fan I leave on in our dining area.
Baking muffins and something else today. I have been going through the back of my closet looking for a purse...I can't remember where I put it last Fall. Now to go through this office. Hopefully, it is in a bag here and not in storage.
We are also doing the major first of the month shopping and I have a pedicure (my reward, I guess) . So, pretty normal Saturday and hope you all have a good one, too!
Elaine, where did you get the energy, courage or whatever I lack, to throw out yearbooks? Please, send me a big dose!
Maye, I finally got started on a new book: Robert Crais is the author. I am really into it so far, and as long as he doesn't surprise me with any yuckiness, I think I may have a new author to read.
Donna, can the neighbors smell all that baking going on? How do they respond? I would be one of the first in line!
And that reminds me: a new shop, a BAkery! Opened up yesterday in REd Bluff and it has a café menu, too, I heard. I am sure I will be going by on my way to shop. They are known for their breads. I am hoping there is more than just 15 kinds of whole wheat...oh, well, in a small town this is a big thing!
                Have a great day!

                  Aloha all!

Maxie, perhaps the guy is just as shy as Sierra is. I'm sure they will get around to a date eventually. I remember how awkward those days were and I was a very late starter.

Have been to Safeway and took a friend. She has just gotten back from a 3 week cruise and needed stuff and my car needed to go somewhere to charge it's batteries as I hadn't been anywhere in over a week. Will read and what ever this afternoon.

                  Have a good day all!
