  • Income Tax Day ~ 2015

    Greetings, Everyone.

My mother's birthday today. She would be 106 had she lived. Miss her, of course.

Jo, I am thinking of my mother because she had the same thing happen to her eye (more than once), so did my grandmother and my niece. Very common, but very frightening.

We actually had the heat on all day yesterday. Don't know what today's forecast is, but I'm guessing it will be hot.

Our nephew Sean is starting a new job in San Antonio today. He will be one of the 6 engineers at a refinery called Calumet. I asked if they made baking powder, and he didn't know what I was talking about.
Guess he's never baked cookies. LOL

Well, nothing to report. Same old stuff. I couldn't bring myself to put beer in the spare ribs, so I used apple juice instead. Good decision.

    Have a good day, Everyone.

Good Morning to all...I am feeling a bit better this morning, maybe it's because I literally slept the day away yesterday. All faucets in my head have let loose this morning, will have to carry a roll of toilet paper with me if this keeps up...just need to get out and get some allergy meds and if the crohn's is a bit more settled a short trip to the grocery store..I need to dust and run the vacuum but will see how the day goes.

Elaine that was funny about the Calument Yes the tax day is upon us, already finished with ours long ago.
Hope the sun will shine for everyone today...love and hugs from me to you
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

        Morning all

        Elaine - Calumet? Ha!

Everyone loves me on Wednesdays because it's payday.

Time to get Erin up and out the door. Grrrr!

Put a "Mississippi" Pot roast in the crockpot this morning. It's the one where you dump in a packet of au jus mix, ranch dressing mix, pepperoncinis, and a stick of butter. We'll see how it turns out.

        Y'all have a good 'un!

Good Morning! It looks like the sun is going to make an appearance today.

Yesterday was nice, but I didn't accomplish much. Once I got my rear in gear yesterday morning, I made the salmon mousse cups and had leftover filling, so I made deviled eggs with the filling...added the yolks & some pickle relish to it...they were OK. Also prepared the mushrooms to make deep fried mushrooms. Took Blaise to school & stopped at the gym for a quick workout. Then off to the library for Recipe Club. We had a smaller group yesterday. Basically the core group that's been coming for 2 years now. The food was all good. The theme was Appetizers. My friend/neighbor Amy came over afterwards for some tea & a good chat. She home schools her son, but her husband & Adam are gone for a few days on a school related trip. Kathy had Blaise for a few hours after school. He was cranky when he got home, but we got him worked out of it. It wasn't her fault. He just wanted to spend more time at her house rather than running errands.

Not sure what today will bring. I really need to do some paperwork.

Our local Kroger store has chuck steaks on sale for $2.99/lb starting today & I'm so in the mood for beef barley soup...doesn't that sound wonderful?
Got our taxes mailed last week. Sent the ones that we were getting refunds for electronically last month. Today would have been my parents 54th wedding anniversary.

          Have a good one all!

            Good Morning .

love to read about you ladies cooking .... I have become so lazy about cooking. that I am slowly forgetting how to do all but the basics... thank God, I have a husband that likes basics the best. he would rather have bacon and eggs than a fancy seasoned casserole. ..its me that misses the tasty dishesl (will be there for some pot roast Pat.

another cool morning . furnace is running ...will have busy morning .... lady and 2 children coming for lesson at 9:30 followed immediately by my college girl at 11. ... so will be at piano.... but that is my joyous job..

Afghan is moving right along.. woke up with both hands stiff but they will limber up.. have set myself a goal of at least 3-4 rows a day...the afghan does not have to be finished until the first of Aug. so don't have to push myself too hard.

glad you are feeling better Boff.....and get the foot up Bethina...
Elaine what is the flowers in the fields that bloom early?. and have they done that yet?.

its off to make the bed. tidy up kitchen and mentally prepare for lady/lessons.

Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

              Good morning.
Thanks, Elaine. I'd never seen (or had) an eye hemmorage before. Scary - yes! But it's ok, no worse than getting a bruise. My eye doc said that on the first day of studying this condition, she developed one. So she was a live example for her class.

Today we have a high temp in the mid-80's again, but will have extremely high winds. (Geez, I really hate the big winds!). They said on TV weather that the airport had a small. Immeasurable amount of rain yesterday. Suggesting we might have rain today (?), she wasn't clear on that. Just lots of winds all day today. E needs to dig that hole for my new tree today. He didn't get to it yesterday, driving me around; after that it was too hot to do that job.
I have one more bin for E to lift for me. Summer clothes for the season. (Lifting the other two may have contributed to this eye hemmorage). A small pile of winter things to be transferred into it when those summer things get sorted. So far I've got a huge bag of summer & winter tops one DD & GD can make use of. Plus some other stuff going to GoodWill when that bag is filled. E still needs to sort his shirts and pants. We have a walk-in closet that begs for more breathing space.

Well....off to make myself my morning tea or mocha. Will have breakfast with E when he wakens. Oh...newspaper day today! (I get the paper 2x/wk.).

              Have a great day, all.

Good morning, all. Cooler today but up to 80º by afternoon. Lunch with seniors today for Oriental Shrimp with pasta. Hope it tastes as good as it sounds.

Busy yesterday as I did laundry early and then Ross came and got me and took me shopping. Went first to a new .99 store. I got a load of vegetables for only $16.36. 2 bags lettuce, sugar snap peas, milk, mushrooms, eggs, broccoli, yams, salsa, 2 whipping cream, 2 bananas, a cantaloupe, a dirty rice mix, and a weird sounding burrito made of flax flour and apple curry. So strange I had to get one to try.
There were number of things that they didn't have such as tofu, ground cloves, frozen peas, and 1/2 & 1/2 for my coffee.
The staff are all friendly and helpful.

Got a call from Joy yesterday. She can't stay with her cousin as cousin's son moved in with her. She will go my sis first and we'll see how that works temporarily.

Pat that pot roast sounds rather odd but interesting. Love pot roast.

Cookie, I would kill for $2.99 chuck. Ours is occasionally $3.99 but usually 4.99. I refuse to pay that much for hamburger.

Maye, my adventuress cooking seems to be a thing of the past, too. Last night I made salad and a cheese omelet for my dinner.

Oatmeal is done. Everyone take care and enjoy the spring.

Forgot to mention. I found a pattern for a crocheted valance that's made of scrap yarn so will see if I can find enough scraps in thrift stores.

                  Good morning all!

Like Jo said it should be windy today. Hate windy days. Have to go early to the eye doctor and hopefully he will be able to give me a Dr's name for me to go to on Maui. Will get my eyes dilated so will be careful driving home. Will not be too much traffic by the time I leave.

                  Have a good day all!

I have made that pot roast a number of times. the picture with it on Pinterest showed it served over mashed potatoes. I thought the butter was an odd addition but it all tasted great.
Oh, good windy morning here. Is everyone having high winds? My college friend in Utah said at 2:00pm yesterday it was 70 and at 6:00pm it was 36 and snowing!
And windy! Our weather guy admitted he had thought the winds would be milder than they were...it sure keeps the allergens active.
Garbage day and that means our one little dog shakes all day. She is sitting right next to my foot now and will cower whenever she hears the big trucks.
I have to return the DISH receiver today after daycare. I thought I would get to it yesterday, but put it out of sight and that was out of my mind. I moved it to where I will see it.
Have a good day and stay well!

Oh, I forgot to mention.... That thing yesterday where the police were redirecting traffic away From, about a 2-mile area.... The Bomb squad truck, police truck, the SWAT team, fire engines, etc.
There was an armed man, he had some problem with a Welfare check... The police finally talked him down and he surrendered to them.
Didn't get it on the newscast, but E found it online. That's about all the article said. With all the police personnel out there, though, I'm sure even more was left unsaid. I'm glad that nothing seriously harmful occurred.
