  • And so it begins.....

It has been predicted that with climate changes that Arizona (and parts of CA) will be drying up. Severely. Maybe other SW states, too, along the Colorado River to Mexico, but mainly these two will apparently get the brunt if it.

This article is about "saving" a dried up pond. The pictures say what words can't describe. But truth be told, it's not only this, but rivers have dried up, as well. In fact, even the lakes are dropping in size/depth as well. I have a friend who's husband always enjoyed going fishing at the lake close to their home. But it's dropped several feet in the last few years, and fishing isn't so good there now. There is a lot more land around that lake now than before. Water will be difficult to obtain, and before long water will be highly priced.

Still, golf courses water their "greens" every day; businesses won't give up decorative fountains and fake waterfalls that evaporate in the heat. This one little water site is being "saved" because its part of a park? It costs a lot of money to divert water. Where could the water be used otherwise? What's wrong with people? Wasteful in their little pleasures, obviously. The reasoning seems so wrong.
Obviously my kind of gripes are in the minority here. But this is one tiny part of the big picture.
