Yesterday's Answer: Tokyo is both the capital and largest city of Japan. The Greater Tokyo Area is the most populous metropolitan area in the world. Formerly known as Edo, it has been the de facto seat of government since 1603 when Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu made the city his headquarters. It officially became the capital after Emperor Meiji moved his seat to the city from the old capital of Kyoto in 1868; at that time Edo was renamed Tokyo.

Susan Brownell Anthony was an social reformer and feminist who played a pivotal role in the women's suffrage movement. On this day in 1872, Suffragist Susan B. Anthony was fined $100 for attempting to vote in a presidential election. Anthony was arrested for the crime, and unsuccessfully fought the charges. She was fined $100, a fine which she never paid. In 1856, Margarethe Schurz started a kindergarten in her home for her daughter and four of her daughter's cousins. When other children wanted to join, Schurz opened a school. In 1956, the Watertown Historical Society moved the structure from its original location to its current site alongside the Octagon House and began the restoration process. 🌀 Previous Answer:
The Persistence of Memory is a 1931 painting by artist Salvador Dalí, and is one of his most recognizable works. It is widely recognized and frequently referenced in popular culture, and sometimes referred to by more descriptive titles, such as 'The Soft Watches' or 'The Melting Watches'. The well-known surrealist piece introduced the image of the soft melting pocket watch. Dali himself state his inspiration was camembert cheese melting under the sun. The general interpretation is that the painting, which portrays many melting watches, is a rejection of time as a solid and deterministic influence.

Along with the tube is a note that reads, “It is alleged that Henry Ford asked Thomas A. Edison’s son, Charles, to collect an exhaled breath from the lungs of Ford’s dying hero and friend. This test tube was found at Ford's Fair Lane mansion, along with Edison's hat and shoes, after Clara Ford's death in 1950."

Pepsi was the first American consumer product that was sold in the USSR, and was introduced in 1974. PepsiCo struck a barter agreement with the then government of the Soviet Union, in which PepsiCo was granted exportation and Western marketing rights to Stolichnaya vodka in exchange for importation and Soviet marketing of Pepsi-Cola. This exchange led to Pepsi-Cola being the first foreign product sanctioned for sale in the U.S.S.R. Russia is now Pepsi's second-largest market behind the U.S.
