    🌀
    Yesterday's Answer:
Istanbul, Turkey is the only major city in the world located on two continents - Europe and Asia. Istanbul once known as Constantinople, is the most populous city in Turkey, and the country's economic, cultural, and historical center. Due to the nebulous nature of the boundaries between Europe and Asia, Istanbul in Turkey is the only naturally occurring transcontinental city. The Bosphorus strait separates its continental European and Asian portions. It is coterminous with Istanbul Province, with 65% of its residents in the 19 districts of the continental European portion and 35% in the 12 districts of the Asian portion. The only other three transcontinental cities include Atyrau, Kazakhstan (Europe/Asia), Orenburg, Russia (Europe/Asia), and Suez, Egypt (Africa/Asia).

      Yesterday's Answer:
The # symbol is commonly called the pound sign, number sign and more recently the hashtag. However, its official name is the the octothorpe. The word was invented in the same laboratories where the telephone came from. The scientists at Bell Laboratories modified the telephone keypad in the early 1960s and added the # symbol to send instructions to the telephone operating system. According to one report, Bell Lab employee Don MacPherson named it after the Olympian Jim Thorpe. However, another former employee claims it was a nonsense word that was a joke.

WRONG! You besmirch the name of Don MacPherson! Here is the definition from wiki dictionary:

"In cartography, [the octothorp] is a traditional symbol for village: eight fields around a central square. That is the source of its name. Octothorp means eight fields." (From octo- ‎(“eight”) and thorpe ‎(“field, hamlet or small village”).)

        Yesterday's Answer:

On September 2, 1901, at the Minnesota State Fair, Theodore "Teddy" Roosevelt first used in a public speech a saying that would later be universally associated with him: "Speak softly and carry a big stick, and you will go far." This famous line emphasized his policy towards foreign affairs. It is still quoted by politicians and columnists in different countries—not only in English but also in translation to various other languages. Roosevelt attributed the term as "a West African proverb", and was seen at the time as evidence of Roosevelt’s "prolific" reading habits.

                    🐣 Previous Answer:
The ostrich is distinctive in its appearance, with a long neck and legs, and can run at up to about 43 mph., the fastest land speed of any bird. The bird has just two toes on each foot (most birds have four), with the nail on the larger, inner toe resembling a hoof. The outer toe has no nail. The reduced number of toes is an adaptation that appears to aid in running, useful for getting away from predators. The ostrich is the largest living species of bird and lays the largest eggs of any living bird (extinct elephant birds of Madagascar and the giant moa of New Zealand laid larger eggs).

Louis Meyer requested a glass of buttermilk after winning his second Indy 500 race in 1933. After winning his third title in 1936, he requested another glass but instead received a bottle. He was captured by a photographer in the act of swigging from the bottle while holding up three fingers to signify the third win. A local dairy company executive recognized the marketing opportunity in the image and, being unaware Meyer was drinking buttermilk, offered a bottle of milk to the winners of future races. Milk has been presented each year since then apart from 1947 to 1955. Modern drivers are offered a choice of whole, 2%, and skim.

With a maximum depth of 5,387 feet, Baikal is the world's deepest lake. It is considered among the world's clearest lakes and is considered the world's oldest lake — at 25 million years.
