  • IPAD QUESTION

What are carrier settings and (why) should I update them? I keep getting a massage that my carrier settings need to be updated.

Carrier settings updates are small files that can include updates from Apple and your carrier to carrier-related settings, such as network, calling, cellular data, messaging, personal hotspot, and voicemail settings. You may receive notifications from time to time to install new carrier-settings updates. Follow these instructions to update your carrier settings:
    1. Make sure your device is connected to the Internet.
    2. Tap Settings > General > About. If an update is available, a prompt will appear.

Note: Occasionally a carrier may release a mandatory update. This type of update will display only an OK button instead of an Update button, to let you know that the update was downloaded and installed.
If you need to know the version of the carrier settings your device has, tap Settings > General > About and look next to "Carrier".
    Learn more

Note: If you insert a new SIM or micro-SIM card into your iPhone or iPad, you'll need to download the carrier settings for the new carrier wirelessly. Carrier settings are available only for iPhone support carriers and iPad partner carriers. If you're not using a partner carrier, you will need to set up the carrier's settings manually. Refer to your carrier for appropriate settings.

Thanks, NightStorm! I had to get ink for my printer and I had to open a coupon on my ipad. I asked the tech guy at Staples and he told me to update it. All I had to do was click the "update" icon and it was done in a flash! I guess Verizon sent it.
