  • C&H Cocoa Apple Cake

i am writing it the way it was on the package.

    3 eggs
    2 cups sugar
    2 sticks margarine
    1/2 cup water
    Cream all together.
    Sift together:
    2 1/2 cups flour
    2 Tblsp. Cocoa ( like Hershey's)
    1 t. Baking soda
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    1 tsp. allspice
After sifting, add to the creamed mixture.

    Then fold in:
    1 cup chopped walnuts
    1/2 cup chocolate chips
    2 cups grated apples
    1 T. Vanilla

    Mix all.
Put the batter in a Greased and Floured Tube pan.
Bake at 325*F. For 60 minutes.
Serves 12. Loaf pans work, too, but I have always baked in a tube pan.

That's barely any Cocoa...do you even taste choc or is it just kind of a hint of it in the background?

Somehow chocolate and apples just don't work for me.
The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

Probably more like a hint, but the chocolate chips are noticeable.
Grating the apples makes for a really moist cake. I am making it this weekend and will try to take notes!

I have been making mental tweeks already. Rather odd instructions. Think I would double the cocoa and use pecans and no chocolate chips.
