Fired before he was hired!

A few days ago I mentioned that I called a tree removal man to remove and haul away the two trees in our yard that didn't survive winter's big freeze.
Well, the guy said he'd be over in the morning to give me his estimated cost.
By noon he still hadn't arrived or called. So i waited ...

Finally, about 5:45p the doorbell rings. Before he even introduced himself I saw dh arriving, stuck in the street because this guy parked *across* our driveway. (There is enough room in our driveway for 2 vehicles. Why would he block a driveway?). I immediately told him he was blocking the driveway and my husband needed to get his car in it. So he parked across the street ... Right at the corner curb!

As he was walking back here, dh got out of his car and told him not to bother.
Anyone who shows up that late and parks so badly couldn't possibly be a reliable or safe worker. Too thoughtless.

Now, to find another tree service.

Good choice! I can't imagine being late for an appointment where you wanted someone to hire you.

Not just being so late, Deb. His thoughtless parking in front of our driveway, and illegal parking at the corner across the street!

can I add my rant for the same reason?

I called a new, (recommended by a student) piano tuner.
closer.more local to my house... he was 45 min late. no explanation....no apology.... then since he was running late. and said I needed to have the dehumifier running for a couple weeks before he tuned.. he then left...for me to call later...I did call him...gave him second chance. .got answering machine,,,left message..He called back while I was teaching , said he would call at 8 in the evening.....did not call..

5 days later I get a call on my answering machine ...
what day had we set up for him to come tune???

I called his answering service.. and said I had decided not to get piano tuned just now.. would possibly call in the fall....

will I call him.....NO WAY..

I've had these same sorts of things happen to me too. Bad business on their part.

I have had one company here in SV do a lot of work for me- the kitchen remodel, both bath remodels, and new doors through out. They are a bit pricey--but if they are going to be late or can't come for some reason they call in a very timely manner. Have praised them on the trait alone.
