  • My DD Bonnie...

She is the one who was dealingbwith the poor/mean management ay the AJ's/Basha's grocery store.
Having gotten out of the hospital and recuperating for a week at home, she to see AJ's former chef, then went and quit her job with Basha's.
She is training to be THE Barista at thevnew restaurant the chef is opening next week.
Doesn't need much training in my eyes. It's what she was doing for AJ's.
She has a following of customers, and will attract more. She is great at PR for her workplace.

I am SO happy for her.

Bonnie called us this weekend and sayd she really likes the new job. For the first time in years she doesn't get stressed out at the thought of going to work each morning. The other place had her coming in at 4:00a to finish the work the high school workers didn't finish the previous night, and to make the coffee & tea and open up the area for customers. At the new place she goes in at a decent time, and is responsible for only her own job.
There are 3 chefs there, it turns out, who really wanted her there. She negotiated a decent pay, and leaves in time to pick up her daughter from school.
As her regular customers come in, they all give her big hugs, glad to know where she is and that she's okay. She gets to know her customers and their usual choices, and has their order waiting when they come in, which they appreciate.

When she did go back to work when the doc released her from home bed rest, the mgr told her he only gave her 12 hours, and she told him she couldn't live on 12 hours' pay.
She did her day there and went home, only to get his call to not bother to come in, he just replaced her. The higher up managers won't appreciate that, and I wonder if he will get fired. The kids they hired don't do half the stuff they need to, and don't care if they catch all the orders before customers walk out from waiting.

I hope the new restaurant catches on. Bon hasn't sounded so upbeat in ages.

Thank you. She really deserves a break in life. I think that without all those pressures, her overall health and migraine headaches will improve now.

              You've got that right, Connie.
Her chefs/bosses all love her. When she came in to work that first day, all the other employees knew that Bon was the star employee (which she found a little embarrassing - she tries to make other employees feel that good).
That's better than a manager who tries to trip you up every day, and make fun of the cost-saving manner of doing things.
She is a very good worker. I have seen her in action. A smile for each customer; and for those who are taking out food for parties, she gladly gives them suggestions to perk it up if they ask.
She will be a big help in helping this new restaurant catch on.

Don't mean to write a book, but I am so proud of her and glad for her.

She sounds like the kind of person I would like on my staff.

Let's hope that all the customers from the old place follow her over!

                    Thanks, Lisa.
A few customers can't follow her, as the restaurant is a little more upscale in atmosphere and price, so they stay with the cheaper coffee .... for now, anyway. But most of them have found her in her new habitat. She does magic with her coffee, though - I have had a couple of those drinks, both hot and iced - and I am not a big coffee lover, usually.

Jo....sounds like she found the right spot for her....hope it continues that way. Not good to have a job you hate or dread going to every day.

Yes, I think it's the perfect job for her. Thanks.
Last night she texted me "Mom, I am now the Manager ofthe Barista!"
