Smell is a potent wizard that transplants us across thousands of miles and all the years we have lived. ~ Helen Keller
January is upon us and what better time to start thinking and planning our new year. It's a time to cleanse, purge, organize, and renew. For some or most of us it's a time to reflect on our outer and inner selves and establish what we want to change about our lives, bodies, homes, and work.
Have you ever noticed that when you peel an orange the essence hangs in the air and lifts your spirit? That is 'Aromatherapy'.
Other oils that lift our spirit are: Bergamot, peppermint, patchouli, jasmine, rosewood, lemongrass, juniper, rose, and rose geranium.
For relaxation: Chamomile, clary sage, frankincense, lavender, pine, rose, sandalwood, tangerine, ylang-ylang, myrrh, neroli, and petitgrain.
Most of these essential oils can be found at your local Co-op stores or natural food stores. You also may be able to find them at specialty shoppes. It only takes a drop or two in your bath to lift your spirits or relax you for a restful night of sleep.
And for all of you weary travelers: Keep a few cotton balls saturated with peppermint oil in a plastic bag. Remove a cotton ball from the bag for a few minutes to refresh the air in your vehicle on a long trip.
