  • Coffee Filter Snowflakes

These are super duper easy. Gather your materials:
    1. Coffee filters, the round ones made for basket type
    2. Scissors, the smaller the better

Fold the coffee filter in half. Fold the cf in half again. Fold the cf in half once more. Now you have a triangle. Take your scissors to the longest point and cut a 45° angle cut towards the center of the rounded edge of the triangle. Now cut back towards the point slightly them back towards the center part again. You are making a point of the snowflake and it does not have to be perfect, just some type of design. Cut in this way back and forth almost within an inch of that center of your snowflake. Just turn the cf around to start cutting on the other shorter side of the triangle. On this side you can make a scalloped edge or cut a tree, snowman, or any design you want, but just remember you are only cutting one side of a design.

When you meet the other side end of the paper you can just snip it and let it fall. Wait. You're almost done. Now before you open
your snowflake make some teeny tiny little triangle cuts and slash cuts in the sides where the most paper is visible. The triangle cuts and slashes look like Battenberg Lace. Now you can open your snowflake.

These get better with practice. If you are using plain sheet paper just start with a perfect square of paper and fold into a triangle. It's the same principle. You need to keep that center of the paper free from cutting to maintain the integrity of your snowflake.
