Well, "TreeMan" was just here.
He agrees that the tree they put in front looks bad, but it takes a year to start seeing improvements. With the new growth in the spring, some of the branches should 'take off' in growth to make the tree more balanced. The leaves should start looking better, too. Come April, if its not showing any improvement, he will definitely come back with another tree. He can see that I've been caring for it properly. He said to continue 2x-weekly watering throughout the winter.
I also asked him about Italian Cypress being planted next to the driveway, to have some shade for our cars. He will give me an estimate. He is thinking of 5 trees to make a "wall" with them. I have considered 3 trees, which will be wall-enough once matured, and still leave room to move in...
