  • Thursday August 24th Rise & Shine!!!

    Good Morning! Figured I better get here before my day gets rolling too fast.

    Yesterday was Blaise's first day of 2nd grade. He was so excited to go to school. Neither one of his BF are in his class this year and he didn't see them at recess or lunch, so he'll just have to make new friends, and he's OK with that.

    Spent the morning in the kitchen, then headed into town to deliver the pie to the doctor's office. Met Becca for lunch then ran a few errands. Kind of nice doing it all alone. I could stroll and actually look at things and debate. Came home and TRIED to get all my baking stuff done before Blaise came home, but that didn't happen. Close though. Cooked a decent dinner, then had a relaxing time with Blaise. After he was in bed, I started on my "homework"....filling out those crazy papers you do every year. Then peeled a half a bushel of apples.

    My Aunt Jeanie, who was my God mother, died yesterday morning from CA. I haven't seen them in years. Ever since my Dad died 37 yrs ago, they kind of distanced themselves from all the rest of the family. They moved to SC at one point and didn't even tell anyone except their own children. We only see and communicate with their youngest son and family. We had hoped that they would come to Maddie's graduation party back in June, but they didn't. I'll be going to her memorial service on Saturday AM.

    This morning is baking & peeling apples. Not sure what the rest of the day will hold...bills, laundry, cleaning. I lead such an exciting life! Today is our 32nd wedding anniversary. Nothing special planned. For years celebrating wasn't even an option since Cork was working dawn to dusk at a golf course. He's a good guy though, and I'll keep him.

    Have a good one all!

    Good morning!! Happy Anniversary Cookie! Work and a possible lunch meeting...if I don't have a lunch meeting I will go to Aldi's for brownie mix..I volunteered to bring 4 pans of brownies for Sunday. My church is all getting together at a lake side park Sunday night...They are having a baking contest I am not interested in being a part of that...My friend that is incharge was feeling over whelmed yesterday and one of her daughters got sick in church last night so I decided to help her out and volunteered to make 4 pans of brownies..

    Work yesterday was ok...ran errands and went to church too....church was extra loud but good.

        Good Morning.

        HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, Donna! So happy that Blaise likes school. 2d grade. Wow!

        Hi Janet! Hi beth!

        Been so busy haven't even been around. First cousin here, then over the weekend John's niece from Dallas, then trip to Dallas on Tuesday and yesterday another niece came for the rest of the week. Plus John is doing his chemo shots this week.

        Finished a 17-page newsletter for the historical association and today I start on the Retired Teacher's Handbook. It's a bugger!

        Hope to be around more, but I never know.

        Hugs to Everyone.

          Good Morning Rounders. Nothing planned for today, do have to make a couple of phone calls. Heart Dr called yesterday and left a message to call them back, they have results of the other test and need to ask a couple of questions.

          Maxine I went to school in Chester IL, was born and raised 7 miles "south" on rt. 3 little spit in the road town of Rockwood. Lived 1 mile up the bluff from the Mississippi. Chester is trying to gain glory for being the home of Popeye but for years it was only known as where the state pen is. Actually at one time Rockwood was bigger than Chester but then the earthquake changed the glow of the river.

          Happy Anniversary Donna and Cork.

          Aunt Mate, Candie has put both the Kindle app and one called Audibles on this phone but I still want to check into getting a library card. The audible is good for when my eyes are bothering me, I can turn it on and listen to the book.

            I know Chester...we are north in the Alton area. Have seen the Popeye statue and the Superman in Metropolis. That is the second reference I have heard to the earthquake that changed the course of the river this week. Odd coincidence.

            Maxine, my Great Grandma and Great Uncle and Aunt lived in Alton. Uncle Carl bought the house with the garage converted into an apartment (or he may have converted it) so Grandma could be close but still have her own space

          Morning...sunny and cool in the house without the A/C. I think evening is settling in sooner and definitely the sounds of fall are starting. Bummer!!! Maye, how was that bone density test? I have one scheduled for the end of the month along with blood work. Then got a phone call from my primary care physician wanting a wellness exam...don't these doctors communicate? One sends you to another then wants to duplicate the test? Beth, how generous of you. If the world had more kinder and considerate people it wouldn't be so screwed up. Happy anniversary Donna! Glad Blaise is happy with school. You have it made when they like school....we have never experienced that. Received a phone call yesterday and need to go home today to sign some papers...I do not know why so guess I will find out. She seemed disappointed when I told her I would be in next week so will make a special trip today. Maybe she just wants to see my happy face and sunny disposition? Jon is grilling tonight and I think I will set out an array of left overs along with a salad and corn on the cob. Sierra has classes from 3:00 until 10:00 so will not be around. Has no class tomorrow and still will not be around. Elaine you do keep busy. All that entertaining...ewww for me but I am sure you and John enjoy it since you do a lot of it!! The weather here is absolutely beautiful but entirely to cool for summer. Elaine and John are your bracing for the hurricane? A lot of rain is predicted to come in with that storm. Allergies allergies allergies...they are going to be terrible this year! I may have to stop in at my old pharmacy and ask the pharmacist what combinations I can take. I do miss my old pharmacist. When you deal with the same people year in and year out they know you and I know they also have a record of what all you take but they at least know who you are to go look it up! I miss small town living a lot. Here we are countryfide in living but sucked into the city size community for everything else...does that make sense? Anyway, have a wonderful day. Dinner out Cookie to celebrate?

            Good morning.

            Mother Nature is fooling around again. Yesterday morning was bright and sunny, and in the afternoon the clouds built up and it was so dark & dreary. So the thunder that rolled overhead wasn't very unexpected. We never were actually aware of the rain, but sidewalks were wet. E said the low part of our yard did get a small "lake".....I guess is wasn't very breezy out because the windows didn't even get wet. E said the rain gauge marked only 1/4" of rain. Better than nothing, though.

            E has an appointment today in the "sports medicine" department of the hospital. His shoulder is doing better. He quit the pain med's days ago, and only takes the strong ibuprofen at night. That's a good sign.

            Congratulations, Cookie & Cork. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
            Blaise is certainly growing up. 2nd grade already.
            Godmothers. I haven't seen or heard from mine in probably over 20 years. At some point I quit sending holiday cards. As she aged, lost her husband and eldest daughter, she became a recluse. Family rumor had it that she got paranoid, she was worth huge bundles of money, had a stroke and stopped communicating with any family and her kids cared for her in her home. I haven't even heard from those cousins! So I have no idea if she's still alive or not. Not that she ever played a special part in my life. She was my aunt, but never godmotherly in any sense.

            Hi Beth, Maye, Elaine, sassy, Paula, Maxie, Darla.

            Guess I'll go get my breakfast now.

            Have a great day.
            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
            Create a beautiful day wherever you go.
              Hi, Jo! We were typing at the same time. You and E have a good day. For the first time in weeks we had a clear sky and could see stars this morning! The smoke may be gone, I hope.
            Happy Anniversary, Donna and Corky! You guys are doing it right!
            The parents that had thought they would need to bring the toddler at 6:45 have worked it out so he doesn't come early...I am relieved. there was only one day that he came that early and now I don't have to have one ear on the door.
            I wiped down the living room window blinds. I was outside and noticed the dust and where I had stopped dusting...it looked so yucky. so I got the Swiffer pad and used that to dust them and then the Clorox wipes to clean them. I still need to get a step ladder but got all the ones I could reach inside and when I chedked outside it all looks good.
            Not much going on here. I am swimming for exercise in the morning and the evening while the pool temperature is good. Then it will be using the treadmill. I know I could go to the gym, but I know in reality I do not go...
            Hope you all have a good day. Beth, your house will smell Heavenly with all those brownies! I agree with Maye: you are a wonderful volunteer!
            Elaine, you sure have been busy. I can't imagine all the newsletters you do, but I know I like reading the ones I receive, so I hope everyone appreciates the work you do for them. Maye, you and David have a good time today and enjoy the getting out and about!
            Everybody, be careful and stay healthy!
              Busy at work today so zooming through.
              Tex is feeling ok, still on antibiotics but not so many pain meds. That danged gall bladder needs to come out, and soon! Did you know you can get referred pain from a gall bladder, that hits your shoulder, and your back? Well, you can. Nasty, evil thing gets inflamed, and rests on the nerves under the liver, so all that nerve pain shoots up and into your shoulder, front and back. Plus the awful pain in the right side from the gall stones...it's really not pretty at all!
              Love to all!
                BTDT with the gall bladder. Had 10 attacks in 6 months, and finally had the puppy ripped out. I just had terrible back pain and just wished I could throw up, but couldn't. The last attack all I ate was a soda cracker & it went into fits. Was afraid to eat after a while. Hope he feels better soon. Are they talking about taking it out yet?
