  • Friday ~ December 23

    Good Morning.

Wanted to get up early but maybe not 4:a.

Talked myself out of shopping for food yesterday and today I have no choice.

Our Christmas is low key and quiet. After 30 years of hosting the entire family Christmas Eve, I like this new normal.

Hope you all have a lovely day. Slow down and enjoy the moment.

    Love You All

Ladyebug, I like low key and quiet. It's a low-key day for me today, jigsaw puzzle and reading my fantastic mystery book. I might put some laundry on. BTW, have you noticed how expensive all the laundry detergents and fabric softeners are? Whoo! I'm not willing to put that kind of coin down to wash some dirty clothes. I will have to find a better price. DG here I come!

Peace to all who are in the throes of physical and emotional healing and remember that you have people in the world who love and care about you. Let's all follow LB's suggestion and keep it low-key.

Good Morning! I see the horizon is pink so maybe we'll have some sunshine today. Yesterday was oppressively gray.

Yesterday was a busy day, but not crazy. I didn't get a lot of things done I thought I would, but doesn't matter. Zipped into Aldi's to get my food for Christmas & such. Didn't pick up a single baking item. The cashier laughed. She's checked me out many days with cases of baking items. As I was packing up, I got into a conversation with the lady beside me. Started out about taking groceries into the house in the fewest trips went to teenagers and then onto troubled kids. We left giving each other a hug. Made my day. Customers came & went. Took Blaise to the library when he got home (2 hr early dismissal) and onto DG. I take advantage of their digital coupons. I've been getting flour, oil, & sugar for $1 each for the past 3 weeks using their coupons. Works for me! Add it to my stockpile. I actually cooked a nice dinner last night that everyone enjoyed.

This morning I'm trying to get the health insurance application ready & hopefully in the mail. I've got to bake a couple pies this morning. One is being picked up at noon. Cork says he's going to get the Christmas decorations down from the attic so we can decorate the tree....it's early you know. LOL! This is normal to Blaise. He doesn't realize other people have their trees up & decorated WEEKS before Christmas instead of days before. We'll have it up until mid-January and enjoy it then.

          Have a good one all!

            Good morning, everyone.
Today should be clear, in the lower 60's. Tomorrow an 80% chance of rain. Sunday clear and 50°.
It looks like a quiet holiday weekend for us.

Karlinann, with today's detergents more concentrated, you really only need half the detergent called for. Sometimes less.
The clothing fibers will thank you for it. According to an article I read a couple of months ago. They also recommended the cold-water wash on the gentle cycle more often as well.

Love that cat, Sassygirl! Thank you.

Well, there's a whole lot of nothin' going on here. E has been playing Christmas Carols. For a change of pace, there's "PDQ Bach" which I find funny. But he doesn't play it too often, which keeps it funny.

To all, have a wonderful day.

Jog, one of my favorites to play is titled If Mozart wrote Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. all the songs are done in his style and then I go to the vocal style (why can't I spell a capella?) of Vocal Point or another like it. Becky's favorite is Christmas with the Rat Pack...go figure. anyway, we have music on some device all the time.
the Christmas concert was good and loud and was sponsored by a local church. And since we got there just a tad after it started, we had front row seats. Did I mention it was loud? By the time we left I was feeling that beat! WE saw our neighbor who played the sax and the clarinet and another old friend who I didn't know played in the local band at all. During the summer they play in the park, but we haven't been for a few years.
Ok, today I will have only 2 kids in daycare. Yes, karlinann, I am the only one with the kids. When my husband was alive and retired, we had a Large Family license and usually had about 10-12 kids a day. still have the license but operate at small family numbers, which means up to 6 children and 2 extra school kids...That keeps me busy and involved. I have made so many friends over the years as I have had their children in care.
I want to make cookies after daycare for the homeless shelter. Yesterday I had cookies for the kids to frost and decorate and I thought that might be something the shelter guests would like to do, too.
Taking it a bit slow and enjoying the day is a good thing, Elaine and I will try and remember what you said. I haven't decided the exact menu yet! I want things my mom really likes but I also need a menu that won't have too much prep...I am leaving Monday morning for WA and I guess the leftovers will be divided between Becky and my mom.
I will be back later to see what all is happening here!

Today is our Christmas Eve and the kids will be coming in around 3ish. Scott called and decided to come in today instead of tomorrow morning so we will have all the beds full tonight. It is raining but suppose to stay warm enough to not cause travel problems. Jon was outside late last night grilling pork steaks which I will heat with his special sauce all day in the crock pot. they will fall apart when done! No gifts to open tonight but we will play cards and bring out Cookies cookies. Andrew is so excited! He will get to see the tree fill with the gifts Sierra and Uncle Scott bring in and then when everyone is asleep Santa will come. I did warn Uncle Scott that the gifts were hidden in the closet of his room and he would be up very late tonight to play Santa. Need to find something crazy for Elfie to do as his grand farewell. He has been a mischievous little guy this season! I have a good hand on tomorrow's Christmas Dinner...ham, potatoes, etc... so that will be easy once I bake the pies today. So guess I had better get moving..have to dig out the Christmas china yet and that will need washed and the leaf is not in the table..need Jon to stop after work and bring in milk. Funny how life, or at least the gallon of milk, moved on while I was preparing single mindedly for Christmas Dinner. Merry Christmas a day early from us.

Good morning everyone! It is cold here, but will earm up a bit.

Yesterday was a bit rough. My eye appointment did not go well and the news was not what I wanted to hear. The doctor was wonderful kind and was very upset that he can't do anything more for me.

At the last minute, the pizza party I was having was cancelled because of illness in their family. We are going to try for Monday night.

I will have a very quiet Christmas. Midnight Mass to start and then 11am Christmas Day Mass. After that I will spend the day in my jammies watching Christmas movies.

I hope everyone has a great day and a terrific Christmas weekend.

                Good morning everyone...

Yesterday was a funny kind of day... I didn't even turn on the computer! It snowed and snowed all day. We got probably 3-4 inches of snow and I'm thinking it's looking like more today. Good thing we went and bought a snowblower!

Today is Sidney's 19th birthday. Not sure if anyone knows who Sidney is... she is the child that Jamie & Spring gave up for adoption at birth. Just last summer, we were given the opportunity to finally meet her. She is a very nice girl... going to college (at Dixie College in St. George, Utah at present), studying to be a Sports Medicine Therapist. She said this will be her last term at Dixie; wants to go back up to Salt Lake and finish her primary education at the community college, then finish up at the University of Utah. So glad for the opportunity to be a small part of her life.

The neighbor across the street came over and gave us a small Christmas gift last night. I made some fabric mice filled with Christmas chocolates, to give to the few people we've met... and to the veterinary office who helped us when our boxer was sick and ultimately had to be euthanized the first part of this month... these neighbors handed the gift to Jamie who was getting ready to run to town; he invited them in, but they had other gifts to deliver and told him to tell us that when the chickens started laying again, they'd bring us some more eggs.. When we first moved here, we walked across the street to meet them and they asked if we liked eggs (??). They have chickens (I wondered where the crowing was coming from) and said they'd bring us some eggs. Well, did they ever! They brought over a box with 28 eggs in it!! They were small, brown eggs. Yummy!

Jamie got a job!! He was unable to find anything in Las Vegas... so he's been staying with us for a while, looking at companies in this area. Snow College is building a big new addition, so he went over and asked for a job. The foreman told him that he's been trying to get people but there's none available. He is happy to put Jamie to work. He will start Tuesday... it's over in Ephraim (25 miles), but actually a faster trip than most of the jobs he had in Las Vegas! Yea!!!

Hope you all have a wonderful day today... and a fabulous weekend.

Good Christmas eve eve. Not much going on here as we are keeping it low key here. I will make the cake tomorrow as it is better if made the day ahead and the salad Christmas morning. Someone will pick up me and the food for the long drive to Sis' house. Little over a mile.
I think there will be only six this year, Sis and her SO, her daughter and SIL, and my SIL and myself.
SIL, Ross, seems to be recovering from the loss of Joyce. He had a really rough time at first. I think he likes still being part of the family. He brought my a pot of pretty succulents which I love.

Feeling pretty good so far. Up at 4:00 to feed the (*%* # cell phone that woke me to say it was hungry.

Yesterday was rough. It's such a pain to not be able to eat the foods that I love. No more sauerkraut for me. Had to cancel my dental appointment. I have only 2 left but it seems that I always have 2 more to go.

About all from the Mother Lode. Have a wonderful weekend.

Judy, what darling Christmas mice! Is there a pattern for them, or is it a free-hand project? I'd like to do that next year.

Punkin, I'm sorry the eye doc couldn't give you better news.

Paula, I love the Rat Pack and all the Crooners, including the rich tones of Nat King Cole!

Jo, I have your address... I'll look up the pattern and mail it to you. These are some I made a few years ago and have had lying around because I made about 30 of them... They're pretty easy if you sew. Two different Christmas prints, 2 eyes, a small pom-pom, a red or green pipe cleaner and some gold wire are all the materials you need. I'll be happy to share the pattern with anyone who wants one if you'll send me your address... my email is judy@garcia19.com.

Good morning! Gray here but above freezing by 5 degrees. I think we are supposed to have a rainy Charistmas. I have to finish the wrapping today and make my refrigerator rolls. Tomorrow will be deserts and casserole prep and then cooking Sunday. Not too big of a deal, just the 3 of us and Justin, Sam, and Addie bug will come in the afternoon. Julie won't be home, but I'm used to that. She has finally found herself, I guess. She joined the Mormon church and since I don't know much about it, I'm not too sure how I feel about that, but she is much happier and doesn't seem to be drinking so I assume its a good thing. She volunteers at homeless centers and food kitchens so Christmas is a big day for them.

Jay is busy busy busy! LOL. Getting all worked up about Christmas coming. I will be glad when it is done. I love the reason for the season, but not the hub bub.

Well I hope you all stay warm and have a good day! See ya tomorrow!
