We have reached hump day once again. It is going to be 27 degrees this morning and even though it's going to warm up, it's going to get really foggy before it does. It's amazing that it's going to be 27 in a few hours and Sunday afternoon it was 84 degrees. We go from one extreme to the other.

I will have friends of mine and their six children here for a pizza party on Thursday night. I have to find some way of making sure that I can get to the grocery store today.

I'm trying to think of what I'm going to do when the Hallmark Christmas movies end. I'm looking forward to getting back to my mysteries - like Dagnosis Murder and Matlock and Hart to Hart, but I will really miss the Christmas movies. I will also miss the Christmas music on the radio 24/7.

Some friends and I went to supper at Longhorns after Mass tonight. It was terrible. It took more than two hours. Service was slower than it has ever been over there and the food was not all that good. I was very disappointed. And it was as much the wait staff as it was the people who were in the kitchen cooking. When one of the women at my table told the waitress that her steak was burned the waitress got mad and walked away. I think I tipped 10%. That is a rarity for me. I almost never tip less than 20%. It took them more than 20 minutes to get me something to drink.

Guess it is time for me to TRY and sleep. Have a great night everyone and a wonderful Wednesday!!!

Morning Punkin and all who come later. I sympathize with you on that bad experience at the restaurant. A couple of weeks ago DH and I went to Chili's for lunch and they seated us and then forgot us. Nobody came to the table to see about us or offer a menu or anything. We sat there for about 10 minutes and we both said "Let's just leave" at the same time and we did. I will never go back there.

It's only 47º right now, but going to 70º today. I appreciate the cool after that blazing hot summer.

I love the Hallmark movies as well, but I wish they would make some new ones.

Today is 'TRASH' day in our neighborhood so I need to get a move on and get it out to the curb. Have a very positive day everyone and stop stressing over what you have yet to do and concentrate on living in the moment. Kiss someone you love.

    Good Morning!

Yesterday was very productive & exhausting. Sue came and we got so much done...cookies iced, pie dough made & rolled out, and finishing touches on a few other items. All that in 3 hrs. I had planned to work in the pie crusts, but I got a call from one customer that she was coming for her order which included 4 cookie trays and then another called for her tray. So I brought out all the cookies and started creating trays. Who knew that making 18 trays would be so exhausting? The trays are all made & chillin' on the porch or in a freezer. I had planned to make some today & some tomorrow, but that's a huge relief to have those done & know where I stand. Now I know I can take a couple more tray orders. No dozens though. Consolidated boxes as I went & have 12 to hand wash today. Freed up 2 shelves in the freezer.

Today I'm making my nut logs and nut horn cookies. Fun for me! Need to take a pie into the doctor's office somewhere along the line btw customers.

    Have a good one all!

Cookielady, can I please lick the bowls on the nut logs and horn cookies? Yep, just as I predicted a few years ago your business is growing leaps and bounds and you now have an assistant and you are owner and acting manager with not a spare moment for yourself. You may not want to be national and international, but lady you are just so close to it. I'm drooling over all the cookies and I swear I can taste those Nut Logs. Oops! I need to get off here before I put on 5 lbs. just thinking about it.

donna, keep your fingers crossed: the WA cookies haven't arrived yet and I am really hoping they weren't on the truck that had a bad accident and spilled postal packages all over the road...Jenni and Stuart know to let me know as soon as the package arrives.

My cookies arrived Monday without a cracked or broken cookie. Keeping Andrew out of them may be harder than keeping myself out of them! Hope yours were not strewn all over the highway someplace Paula because they are worth the wait!

Good morning....sure feels good to not be in a rush to get out the door for work this morning...They scheduled us a day off today...things have slowed at the store...My pay check doesn't like the days off but my body sure does....going to finish cleaning my room this morning...and I have a hair cut at 3. I have to go with my dad to get my mother's Christmas gift....he asked me the other day what I thought he should get mom for Christmas...I gave him some suggestions but he didn't seem satisfied so I asked my sister....she is going to get a new sweat suit and gift certificates for a facial...she and my sister already have one scheduled for our birthday on the 10th of January...I am treating my sister and she and my mom will go.My sister will find out about it when they call her from the salon and tell her she has an appointment...I don't think that I would much like it....I am going with one of my best friends for manicures and pedicures while they have having their facials...I do know I will love that! I will also be taking cup cakes to work that day..chocolate with peppermint butter cream. That will be instead of birthday cake.

I also need to go with my youngest niece and dad to dollar tree....I need to pick up tissue paper and reagan wants to get the stuff for her parents stockings...I need to pick up a few things for my parents stockings.

      Good morning everyone.

Got nothing on my schedule today... we drove to Orem yesterday and bought a snowblower because the weather said they were expecting snow. It is snowing up north (Salt Lake) right now, but it hasn't hit us here. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Guess I'll curl up with a book. I've started reading my Harry Potter series again. I'm on book 3. When I get tired of reading, I'll probably crochet... when I get tired of that, I'll probably play on my computer. Oh, the possibilities are almost limitless *grin*

Hope you all stay warm and dry out there... It's the first day of winter and NOW it can get cold

Good morning! My last day of running this week. Andrew ask for m&m cookies for himself and Santa so i mixed up a batch last night and we will bake them off after school. he has early dismissal and I have this damn drs. appointment so Sierra is coming to meet the bus if I am running late. Actually she came in last night. She and mommy dearest are not seeing eye to eye on things and I am not getting involved with that. She knows what her mother is and she knew it when she made us to be so bad and moved out. Yes, for once in my life I am keeping my mouth shut and letting life takes its course. Tonight we will order pizza and that means I do not have to cook. I am getting pretty good at this not cooking stuff! Only two more days of hiding the darn Elf. Yesterday he crawled into the egg carton and drew faces on the eggs. I am still not sure how much Andrew knows but he is loving finding Elfie in trouble. Andrew put his packages under the tree last night and is excited. I am not much on bows but he found a crushed up bag and all his gifts have bows. Weather is getting warmer or at least normal temps and I am thinking instead of a Christmas Eve meal having the kids roast hot dogs. It will still be cold but maybe something fun? Need to talk that over with Jon and Sierra. Either one of them could nix that and no matter, I do have a meal planned for Christmas Eve anyway. Read about heating my ham in a crock pot on Christmas Day. ANyone tried that? You all know I am all over crock pot cooking. Just add a little fruit juice and let it warm for 6 hours. That means I would have to take my potatoes out of the crock or buy another crock but if I could prepare the entire meal in the micro and crock pot I would be so happy. And no, my family are not skinny waifs looking for a decent meal...well maybe they are looking for a good meal but they are by no means starving. I just prefer to cook easy and will crock pot and nuke anything that falls into my fridge. I cooked for a husband and two boys for so many years and I sometimes wonder why I hate cooking so much now. I raised a family in the age when you did not eat out every night and fast food was not on every corner. But now it is and I intend to keep these places in business. Cookie, Drew tasted the cookies last night and gave them the seal of approval. He tasted every one and then walked down to the boy cave with a handful. Thank you thank you! Gotta shower and get moving. Sunny and not so cold today...not 80 but not below zero either..

Up and not really at 'em, yet. as I told karlinann it is garbage day here and the loud noise of the air brakes and the trucks themselves send my littlest dog into the shakes. She stays right between my feet so it is a little tricky moving around.
Just plugging along through the week and it just doesn't feel like Christmas is this Sunday! School still being in session for most of the kids makes is seem far off.
This week has had something scheduled every night so far and on to tomorrow. Monday night was a meeting of the homeless shelter board that Becky and I and some others attended to voice some concerns. Outside of my comfort zone, but I am kreally glad I went. Last night was Career night at the youth meeting at church and I was asked kto be one of the presenters. tonight is dinner with friends at a restaurant. Tomorrow is a community Christmas concert. Our neighbor and the man who tuned the piano are both involved. I didn't know aobut it until the neighbor brought over fudge for us. We will take my mother with us. Friday I have a dinner to take to the missionaries and then I hope to schedule a pedicure.
I changed my manicure appointment until next week after I get back from WA in order to attend the concert.
I better get moving. I like to get the cans back behind the fence as soon as they get emptied.
Prayers for all of you! For health and happiness and peace.

              Good morning....
At noon I have a follow up appointment with my surgeon. I'm getting around okay, the draining seems to have stopped. Not needing many pain pills, now.
              It will be 70° today.
I do need to fill my Med boxes this morning, get showered. Figure out what to do with my hair. Am way overdue for a haircut, but not feeling stable enough to go in for one yet, either.

Well, I wish I'd baked some cookies or something...tho I didn't have the energy or even all the ingredients. What a bummer to have received 2 goodie gifts that were stale and rancid. Maybe we can stop at Trader Joe's today.....they have cookies fresher than any grocery store. One DD sent small gifts that are sitting on a side table. Not so much as a card from 4 of our kids. Yet.

Val, a similar experience for us not so long ago....E left only a dollar tip. Actually the dollar was a coin, and the waitress probably thought it's a quarter. She had tried to work out with her manager to check us out, but E saw it coming and had the exact amount that he left on the cash register and we walked right out. I'm sure the manager was not pleased. But half a dozen waitresses stood there gawking as we walked out. She really screwed up our order, though. Brought milk instead of juice, then brought another milk after that. We hadn't ordered milk. She didn't get either food order quite right. Slow at serving. Food was not hot. (And they still expect tips?).

Well, I'd better get started on today, before time starts to get away from me.
              Have a great day!

Good morning! I'm happy to report that I am feeling much better today and hope with all my might that it stays that way. Wrapping today when James leaves. Try to get his and Jay's done. Still have a couple of deliveries coming in the next few days....hope they make it. If not, Jay's birthday is Jan. 5 so I can use them as birthday gifts if I need to. I'm getting anxious for that Christmas ham.....I do love ham!! Need to just get things pulled togehter around here today in general.

Hope you are all staying warm and safe. We have very cold weather but no snow and that is a blessing! You all take care and have a great day!

                  Good Morning.

I got here too early and nobody had started the thread, so I cleaned the bathrooms and washed counters and table in kitchen. Feels SO good around here.

karlinann, I'm with you - make new Hallmark movies. Can't watch the old ones one more time. Ha!

Paula, I'm obsessed with trash. LOVE getting rid of stuff every Thursday.

Janet, I'll keep watching the news for sign of a murder in your town. So funny!

maxie, my niece moved into a new house that only had one oven, after having 2 for years, and she discovered that dressing in a crock is MUCH better than oven baked. I need to try it.

Well, better get something else accomplished today.

                  Enjoy winter!

Humm..dressing in a crock pot...I will have to try that. That would one less thing to cram in the oven for Thanksgiving. I have always done my potatoes the day before and heated them in a crock..they are actually better if you let the cream cheese and sour cream set a day before serving...can also do that with the sweet potatoes. I would have crocks in every room if only I could bake a pumpkin pie them! The hardest part of a holiday meal would be remembering which crock in what room I should put the whip cream by!!

Good morning, all. Warmer this morning after several days of icy 20+ degrees. It's about 34º so no icy windshields.

After my bought of back spasms, the ER Dr. said it seemed more like nerve damage than muscle. He put me on Gabapentin and it seems to be working. Started with 1 pill and told me if it wasn't working in 5 days to go to 2 pills. It makes me feel very relaxed.
Since I got the diagnosis of congestive heart failure I feel like I'm dealing with things better. No more beating myself up over things that don't get done. As may says, (One day at a time).

Sis is having a small family get together. Making prime rib which I haven't had in a very long time and have been and have been craving.
I'm taking a carrot and dried cranberry salad and a Pumpkin Pecan cake. The cake is one of those that is better the second day so I don't have to stress it. It is really delicious.

After all my years cooking I have finally started crock potting. Made myself a huge pot of bean soup yesterday. Didn't mean to make so much. I figured a 1/2 bag of beans. Well, that's what I used but it was a 2 lb. bag so I have enough bean soup to put in the freezer until spring. I love to have soup ready to thaw and eat in the winter.

I don't like to think of this as the first day of winter but the day that the days start getting longer. I have seen narcissus blooming so spring is coming.

breakfast time/ You all take care and don't overdo. Good to see Judy back.

Hi Barb.....glad you saw a Doc who's on the ball, not just idly looking at patients.
I can't complain too much about 70° "cold", but I'm always chilly these days. We're overcast today, so no doubt rain coming in the next few days??? Forecasted thru Sunday.
I have a tunic sweater on today, it fits like a dress, but I'm wearing slacks under it, too.

I see that I'm scheduled to see a heart doctor in Feb. Turns out I've a mitral regurtative heart, on top of things.
E read a cartoon to me: two guys talking over coffee, one tells the other, "I'd say that having a healthy body these days is just asking for trouble!" (Doesn't really seem that far-fetched, does it?)

Well, I'm just sitting here with my leg-massaging machine on. My feet/legs are swollen since the hospital, despite the Lasix prescription. They still caution me about getting dehydrated. ??????? Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me.
Lunch or supper is always soup, and I have a drink on my table all the time, so I'm not worried about it.

It's getting close to time to leave for the cancer center.
                      Ta Ta !
