  • Good Morning - Saturday 8/6

Cori has been trying to get up since around 4:00. I was able to ignore her until 545 or so. My mom and dad are here...My mother is up and dressed and ready for her day! She must be excited or something...we are going to have a family day together today..We are going to the historical streets on Saint Charles MO. Look them up..its one of my most favorite things about living here...They have a very cool ice cream shop and really good resteraunts the shops are also super cool...The best part of the day for me will be just spending a day with my whole family bro inlaw and dad included...

Cori did ok at the vet last night...has been pretty attached to me since coming home...she was good about getting her nails trimmed..

    Good Morning.

beth, I added the date to your post. Hope you don't mind. Didn't want any confusion. Have a great day with your family.

It is waaaay too hot here to even leave the house, although we've done that everyday this past week. But today we are sticking to home.
Must water the shrubs around the house and do that before it reaches 100. We've already lost a couple of Azaleas.

    Nothing to report.

Darla, when are you planning your move?
Pat, how was the chicken spaghetti?

Hugs to Everyone. Have a good day.

Well, after all that cooking - we haven't eaten it yet. Decided to take it out to Chris's sister-in-law's tonight for supper - so I mixed it all up, put it in the pan, put foil over it and it's in the fridge waiting for tonight. We took the other half of the shredded chicken (because I made a TON) and made pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches from it last night. I'll give you a full report on how everyone liked it tomorrow.

    Good Morning!

Yesterday didn't disappointment me in the busy department. Slow but sure. Took time first thing and did a bit of paperwork and got my deposits ready before heading to Giant Eagle then the 2 banks. Came home, picked up the pies, and got them delivered. Before I even left for the bank, the restaurant called & ordered 2 pies & a carrot cake. So once I got home, I started in on their order then made the pies for the stand. Made a nice dinner since Becca was home, and Kathy & Jimmy joined us too. Right before we sat down, the stand called & apparently he didn't save back a peach pie like was requested, so he ask if I had one ready by chance...well, of course! So he sent the lady up here & we got her taken care of. So after supper was cleaned up, I baked another peach pie & the 2 pie shells for today's fresh peach pies. In btw all that, I needed to have my signature notarized on a paper from Becca landlord.

Today promises to be a busy one again. Going to make the 2 fresh peach pies first, then start in on baking the pies for tomorrow's order. Yesterday he didn't want to commit until later in the day, but today he has not choice because my family is coming over for dinner & swimming. This afternoon will be spent getting ready for that. Nothing fancy, but I really should clean the floors....LOL! I'm not doing any of the major cooking...baked beans, the peach pie, and the already made up pierogie casserole, and hot dogs. Simple enough. This will probably be the last time Becca & my niece Makenzie see each other until Thanksgiving.

Becca was thrilled with all the stuff I got for her apartment. She went shopping in the afternoon yesterday and filled in with a few other items she thought she'd need. Kathy & Jimmy announced they were getting an apartment and should be moving in in the next couple of weeks. Maybe real life adult bills will scare her into working more. LOL! Maybe all our big lil birdies are going to finally leave the nest. Then we'll be left with one.

    Have a good one all!

      Good Morning .

David was up earlier. and has to chat with the animals.. like they are deaf.. at least that is easier to listen to than the Tv with their yammery lady commentators.. who talks so fast .. so I got up and after coffee . put a delicious looking roast in the slow cooker..
..already muggy outside.. had a heavy dew... so the plants are fine.. a good year for geraniums and marigolds... they don't mind hot and drier..

Donna, good news about Kathy and Jimmy moving into own place.. yeap , bills to pay , make you go to work..
Bethina , and good news that you are sharing the day with family.

Elaine.. stay in, stay cool... it might be a little over warm.. but we aren't shoveling snow..

Hi to all.. be back later to read

      Hi Justy .. and Paula.
Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

Cork & I had a discussion....again...this morning. She honestly thinks he hates her. He doesn't find one nice thing to say to her. Not one. He thinks them getting an apt is a HUGE mistake. So they make mistakes. Like I said, bills will force them to work. This will get both of them out of their their parents homes. Cork SAYS he's forgive Jimmy, but he won't look or speak to him. I think Cork makes himself look like an idiot & I told him so. He's hoping Jimmy just goes away. The boy has loved Kathy for 10 years. Maybe it's a mistake, but then again he may be around for the next 50 yrs. He's very respectful to me & helpful.

Morning all - after an entire week of rain every morning - the sun is shining! Thinking of throwing on my jeans and running to the convenience store for gas for the lawn mower before it gets blistering hot.

      So I think I will.

      Y'all have a good 'un!

Good Morning, have an appointment with the SS Dr this morning because they "don't have enough evidence to process my claim" so it all boils down to a Dr. I will see for maybe 15 minutes or less to decide if the Dr.s I've been seeing for 2 years know what they are talking about.

And yes ladies I will admit that I don't do what I really should around here anymore, I've kind of shut down and am feeling like "why try". When someone goes and does their own thing for hours on end everyday and comes home and only sees what you didn't get done not the stuff you did why bother? You cook a meal and they refuse to eat it why bother cooking it. Bag the trash and set it by the door to be taken out and he will take it out later, he just don't feel like taking it out now. This was before he really got to the point he is now. but then he just can't do anything here but I turn around and he's going out the door "I've got to go to Katie's I can't sit in the house all day" When he is home he is in the bedroom doing whatever on his computer, don't know what the difference is if I'm playing a game on line or he's spending hours playing one that he downloaded. If I ask him to help with anything I get told "in a bit" but if he needs help with something I'm supposed to jump and be right there. And yes I am getting a bit resentful and bitter. Someone asked how I didn't know the taxes weren't paid. I don't see the bank account, I do see the monthly bills but since he has been paying them on-line I don't know if they are being paid now (Used to I was the one who stood in line to pay them) When he is telling everyone that he is broke because of property taxes, I think okay he paid them. When I ask and am told "I have it covered I'm not an idiot" then I trust it's covered. Maybe that is my big flaw, I trust that people are doing what they say they are doing.

Donna, I hope that Kathy and Jimmy getting their own place works out and pray that the announcement didn't just come from them seeing what you got Becca for her new place. Also praying that Cork comes around like he did with Blaise.

Well have to get things rounded up that I need to take with me and get him up so he can get ready to take me.

          Good morning !
Today will zoom up to 97°, slight chance of rain, humidity hanging around 80%. Icky weather.
Looks like we had some rain late last night....we did arrive home to see lots of lightning and some thunder. 🌵

Yesterday about noon E took me to get my hair done. My hairdresser doesn't let me down., and it looks nice. She was excited that I was t walking slow, but normally. Evades, during my hour there she plied me with a total of 3 glasses of lemonade, a piece of cinnamon coffee cake, plus chicken salad with "naked pita chips". I couldn't finish it, but E did when he picked me up. He passed on the cake but got some lemonade. She also pressed a package of those great naked pita chips in my hands, so I'd know what to look for. Dolly, my hairdresser, just wanted to celebrate my looking and feeling better. So I bought a couple bottles of hair products. (Same price as Amazon's, thankfully.). Turns out that Dolly uses aspects of my haircuts on other ladies with similar hair challenges. 💇🏼
Afterwards, E took me to browse in a Big Lots that is larger than ours. I thought I nearly walked my legs off. We bought "evil" dog & cat skeletons that bark/meow and eyes light up red.....these go to our dog & cat lovers for Halloween. *heh heh heh*. The cashier made some mention of it, and I said if only they had a ferret one for my ferret-loving DD!
But then E took me to COSTCO, where I walked all over the store looking for those pita chips. I found nothing, and had walked all I was able to, so just stood in one place where he could find me. He did find something similar after going through the store twice....a gluten free pita chip. Even lower in sodium. Then we headed toward home. Since it was late, and hot, he decided to pick up pizza. Then ran into the grocery store for a couple of items, and I was napping in the car. Then we came home and pretty much vegged out for the evening. I still have to go through all my snail mail from yesterday, not to mention a string of emails & texts that got ahead of me.

Today, no real plans. Next week is another story.......

Beth, you've got an exciting day ahead. Sounds like Cori is settling in nicely.
Elaine, a bit of Miracle Grow might bring the azaleas back, if you catch them soon. Little brown bottle of liquid, it does wonders.
Cookie, you're always on the go! We never signed for anything for our kids. They were old enough to put down their own deposits and pay their way. They wanted us to sign for bigger and newer vehicles, homes, etc.,.......and if they were to renig on that, we certainly couldn't afford it. And they were likely to renig. So they found something else, just as good and also affordable. Just not "showcase" purchases they wanted. They did hate us for a while, but got over it. Turns out that they later admitted things they "earned" on their own meant more to them.

Hi Maye.......and anyone who may have been typing along with me and got posted sooner. 😉 And, of course, all who follow.

          Have a great day!

Oh, Beth, I love old St. Charles...I already have a trip planned for Christmas and my eldest son was there last weekend. The shops, food, history...I just love that place. Looks like the sun is trying to come out. I have stopped listening to the weather...every day it says chance of rain. Read yesterday that Illinois has just endured the 3rd wettest July and our area received over 12" of rain in July so JoGee, you can have to much rain! Andrew is coming this afternoon so I think we will grill hamburgers. Jon cannot bend or lift but he can flip a burger and Andrew loves to help his dad. Yesterday I put in another full day of laundry and cooking. Made a meatloaf, cornbread, mashed potatoes. Yummy! My cell phone is acting up so I guess I need a new one. Drew's mother said she put my number down as the emergency school number so better be prepared with properly working equipment. It has not worked well all summer but I didn't really care until she said that. Maybe Monday I will take care of that...also need to call for a new doctor since mine is leaving the area. I will go to Jon's doctor who was our family doctor for years but need an appointment to establish myself and get meds ordered. Always an aggravation lurking. But for now the sun is finally out, the air conditioner is running and my grandson will be coming in this afternoon to spread his cheer. Mother says he does not have all his school supplies so maybe he will go with me to finish that. Always feels like summer is over when school starts no matter what the temps are. Cookie, I did not know Jimmy had been around that long. It is so hard to get past old grudges and hurts. I completely understand Cork wanting him to just go away. Determined you will be leaving soon and hopefully life will be easier. Pat, you work so much and yet cook. Elaine, wish we could exchange weather for a while. If I missed anyone it was unintentional. Another day around here and if it gets hot this afternoon and doesn't rain it will be perfect. Jon is hoping both kids come so he can direct them to work on the pool. He has been so diligent with cleaning and chemicals and in a week it is a mess with all the rain. He loves his pool!

Cookie, if Jimmy has been around for 10 years, and has become respectful and helpful as well, then he may be worth it for Kathy. The apartment commitment will either cement their relationship, or break it. If they can get along on their own, and don't solicit help to stay above water (so to speak), then Cork will have to readjust his attitude and accept what is. That means talking with Jimmy, too, rather than ignoring him. Nobody in this world is perfect, but give those kids credit for trying! I'm kind of hoping they DO make a go of it.

Good afternoon! I was pretty proud of all the things I got done this morning until I saw my iPad and thought, I never posted!
Beth, that town sounds Exactly like my kind of place. I love cute little shops, specialty food shops, etc. And being with your parents just makes it perfect.
Jo, I am impressed at your mileage! You walked all over. Costco by irself wears me out.
I am making dinner for a friend of Becky's who has worked getting the shelter yard sale ready. Million dollar spaghetti. Becky made up a cookie mix: Brown Sugar Oatmeal. They are delicious and I will be looking for a homemade recipe now.
Pat, can'T wait to hear how the family likes your ( Elaine's) dish. I have it on my list to make for the shelter this fall.
Donna, that restaurant guy is really lucky to have you and your plan ahead pies and cakes!
Gotta start putting my food together.
                Hope your day went well!
