  • July 1st......Mid Summer now

Good SUNNY Morning! Getting this started.

This week has just flown by and I can't say that I got near everything done that I had planned....dang.

Yesterday the first SEARS guy showed up early at 8:30am, which was great, but a second guy was suppose to come to check the refrig and softener. I finally called SEARS to see what time he was coming, and I was told btw 3-5pm. Fine. So I headed to town to pick up the necessary items to do my baking & cooking today. Wasn't there 15 minutes and the second guy called, so I headed back home to wait for him. He got there about noon. After he left, I headed back into town and completed my missions. Came home and Kathy & I cleaned some windows, though not many. We now need the tall ladder to get the rest. I baked the tie dye red, white, & blue cakes. It used 3 cake mixes, so I made enough layers for a 3 layer cake & a 2 layer cake.

This morning I hope to get the cakes iced. One will be for tomorrow's picnic and the 2 layer one will be for Becca to take to work on Monday...I think. I plan to make up the 2 pans of pirogi lasagna...one for tomorrow & one for my friend Lori. Lori just dropped off some peaches her husband brought back with him from SC. I'll be making her a peach pie for Monday along with a strawberry rhubarb pie. I had planned to bake the SR pie today, but since it's for Monday, I'll wait until Sunday or Monday to bake it. Need to get Blaise's room cleaned. He's coming home tomorrow. Still not sure if I'm going or if Kathy & Jimmy are going. It all depends on if they can get the screw loosened so his can change her oil on her vehicle. Apparently someone used a power tool to tighten the screw & stripped it. Always something. Nothing can be easy.

    Have a good one all!

      Morning all

Donna - is that the cake that everyone was posting on FB where you use squeeze bottles and 3 colored batters? I am dying to make it too!

Work today and tomorrow then off for two days. They are predicting record crowds on the beaches this weekend because gas prices are the lowest they have been in a few years. We are fully booked and tomorrow will be NUTS.

Gotta remember to buy a birthday card for my half-sister, Mary and get it in the mail today - her birthday is tomorrow, but she works out of town, so she won't get it until she gets home anyway.

Did I tell you all that my two half-sisters (Mary and Renee) are planning a weekend getaway in Atlanta in October? I haven't seen Renee since 1997! We sure need some bonding time!

Did any of you watch the series "Call The Midwife" when it was on PBS? It is on Netflix and I am now on the final season. Yesterday I was watching an episode where a baby is adopted and when they go to pick her up how emotional it is. OMG, I cried my eyes out. I kept imagining how MY Mom felt when they saw me for the first time when they adopted me. It's something we never talked about, but I sure wish we had.

      I miss my MOM!

And before I get emotional, it's time to open the office doors and get the phones back from the answering service. Y'all have a good 'un!

The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

YES...it's that cake. I'll let you know what it looks like when it's sliced tomorrow at the picnic.

I've told my girls many times what it was like when we got them and how excited we were. Becca has no desire whatsoever to look for her birth parents. Kathy knows her birth mother...father was unknown...and is over her. She calls her her real mom, but she knows I'm her REAL mom.

Good morning everyone..been up since 6:30 ridden to my sisters took care of all the animals there..took care of the bird that is here with me...She is scared of fire works...we didn't know this until last night when a neighbor started shooting them off...she was running around the cage acting nervous and scared so I covered her cage and turned on the Fox news channel for her..she loves Fox news channel. it calms her down...I discovered this the last time I had her she will sit and watch it and when I changed the channel last night she started chirping like she was scolding me for changing the channel. One of the cats would rather drink from a cup than a bowl. So had I to put a cup of water out for the one and a bowl for the other two.

I have a pan of brownies ready for the oven just because I wanted some to eat...not going any place today...the guys are back working on my road more.

Good morning, world. I really haven't deserted RT. I have had two horrible weeks of neck pain. Two visits to the ER and tests and tests. They couldn't find anything wrong except some arthritis. Whatever caused it has disappeared.
Can't say that I have done anything special unless naps are exciting. All I have done is make myself simple meals and sometimes washed dishes.

At least I'm feeling more like my normal self except that my legs feel wobbly from just lying around with ice on my neck. Haven't had a pain pill for three days.

Everyone take care. Have some things to do before it gets hot. Temps expected in 100s today.

          Good morning all.

No celebrating for me this weekend. Since I don't travel on holidays and since my "family" lives in northern Ind., I will stay in the comfort and safety of my house.

Pat, I wouldn't think that a crowded beach would be very fun. Unless you were just there to " people watch ". I like people watching in the malls even. I usually find me a comfy seat while the person or people I'm with walk their feet off. Now if I have something in particular to shop for, that would be a different story. I get the item, then set down and watch.

Everyone have a great day and weekend.
Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.

Jostoy - you got that right. We wait until the tourists have gone home before we "take back the beach". The day after Labor Day, it's ON! I love to people watch also. Love to go to the big shopping center on the beach (Pier Park) and get a drink and sit at a table and just watch. You can sure see some sights!

Oh Jostoy, we are a family of people watchers! Airports and malls are our favorites but you can find something to watch anywhere anymore. Last game of the season is over! We will know Tuesday if the playoffs are in our future...you could see all the adults leaving last night praying for the season to be officially over! We played in a bitsy town with a population in the hundreds and the ball field, one only one in the entire town, was on top of the railroad tracks. When a train went by they took all the boys out of the dugout and sat them along the fence because the tracks were so close! OMG! What a hoot! Woke this morning to sun and fall temps. Boy is it cold out this morning! But we finally got some measurable rain. You could hear the ground gulp and the plants go ahhhh. Natural rain is always better than hose watering. Lots to do today and I forgot to cash a check the last time I was home so need to run back today to do that since I am leaving town next week and Monday is a holiday. I am not a fan of atms so use the old fashioned way of cashing checks. Will run the vac before I leave the house because I did not run it at all this week despite my good intentions. Have a stew in the crock pot. Nothing going on around here just another day...and a cold one for the first of July!! Summer is not for cold...Mother Nature is really messed up!

good mid-morning... I was here at 8am .. but got detoured by David. text, and my to-do list... ...

front porch windows are done .. love my "rags"... went to a home demo.. and bought these two clothes.. one washes . one shines.. just wet the Gray one.. fold , wipe, fold & rewipe .. then take the blue one and polish,shine.. wonderful. no streaks , no blurs. made by Norwex.. expensive , yes... but bucket,no spray , no soap.. just two rags.

load laundry done. 3# cheese shredded... don't buy the already shredded stuff.. would work but this taste better in the Mac and Cheese.
odd jobs. like kitty litter box cleaned. dishes done. bathroom wiped down.. etc etc etc..

now , will set , make out a few bills to be mailed.. and then go down the road to bank and lunch...
SAssyG... that looks like something my K.D. would do and has done... she also likes to crawl into plastic bags .. and "fight" her way back out .

Pat, there are so many things I wish I would have talked to my Mom about.. by the time she came to live with me after Dad passed, it was too late. her mind did not focus on so many things..

            see you tomorrow Donna..

Elaine ,, hugs to you and John... DAvid and I often talk about our visit with you... him and John were instant buddies.

ok, back to the to-do list..

Hi Justy... how are you.. ?

HEy Paula!!! and Hi to you all...

Nalani, envy you and your nice weather most of the time...
Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.

            Good Friday to you all!
Pat, I hear and feel your excitement! An e tea day off is such a treat here! ( even though some parent Always asks if I will be open on a holiday!)
We got asked to an evening barbecue on the 4th and to stay and watch the fireworks. I am having my mother over for a barbecue lunch and swimming, so it will be a well fed day, for sure!
I am slowly getting windows primed and ready to paint. Windowsills. And then will tackle the baseboards and door jams...the guy who painted my room painted them the same blue he was using on the walls. Too much blue, but I was ready for him to be Done, so let it go then.
Pat, as a grandmother, I can say how incredibly emotional it was for me to see those little babies and to know they actually were ours ( always a fear of a birth mother deciding not to adopt). Just so thankful for those who can make that decision and the families who open their hearts.
            Bless you all!

Quick note before I go to the XRay appointment.
Good morning from desert country !
Had rain early today. The high temp is only 87° today. The rain %age dropped from 90 to 60.
Got a couple pain pills to take before the ultra sound on my bad foot. Couldn't take that test otherwise.
Otherwise, things are good here. My chemo meds are tolerable, don't make me sick.
              I'm done with the antibiotic.

Pat, last time we were on a Florida beach, it wasn't at all crowded. Unfortunately, a guy maybe about 85 yrs old wearing a bright red Speedo walked past us. Lordy, I wish I could get that picture out of my head. He was seeking younger women to pick up, that was very obvious.

Time to pack up my purse with the necessary stuff to take, grab a sweater, and head out.

              Have a great day.

I am doing fine Maye. Nothing much happening around here other than the excitement of my first vine ripened tomatoes of the season. I've have just had two myself. Youngest son keeps snatching them! LOL

                Hi again!

When we left for the hospital, I thought surely that the sun was about to break through the clouds and there'd be no rain. WRONG! After I'd finished the tests we went to Target. At 10:30 we heard the thunder. As we left, it was a nice, hard rain. Coming home, it was my hoped-for downpour! Hard to see the traffic & streets. As we arrived in our neighborhood, it let up a bit, so we managed to get from car to house without getting soaked. Our yard has its "lakes", and both sides of the house had "rivers" running down to the street. We checked out the neighborhood canals, which are normally dry, and they were pretty darn full, and also running to wherever they go. Got home, and I already needed a nap. E said the rain hadn't stopped, but about 12:15-ish let up and became a nice rainfall (still falling). He checked the backyard rain gauge, and it indicates we got a good 4-1/2 inches. 😄😄😄 I'm so happy!
Oh, and when I looked out the side window, I noticed that among the damage from the other night that my heavy, iron roadrunner, whose base was covered in fist-sized rocks, had been pulled from the rocks and was flopped over. Good heavens!

Today is the last day of the forecasted rains.

As for that guy at the Florida beach ----- yes, friends, you got the picture!!! 😆😆😆

Justy! Glad to see you posting! Fresh picked tomatoes are hust heavenly!!! 🍅 Yum!

thanks Justy... glad you saw my little message and came in today......

when Daughter and I were at the nursery picking flowers .. I spied the tomato plants and have a spot where I could put three of them,, IF we stake them up. and keep kind of cut back.. ... I just want David to have his very own ripe tomato this summer..... don't know if it will work .but thought it was a cute idea... altho. he has almost fell twice now getting stakes in beside them.... this man of mine is soooooo stubborn.. he would not wait until one of the sons could do this ... and he made his back start to hurt.. again... I threatened to pull them out if he doesn't ask one of them to put the twine around the poles. ... we have a wonderful farmer market not far from here . much easier to go buy a few ..

Jo G.. and thank you for keeping us posted on your journey through this "crap". ( if you will excuse the word)... you are enduring .....you have such a terrific attitude..!!.

old man and speedo.... its a wonder you did not laugh out loud ...

Maye, it's just another of life's "adventures".
Not everyone experiences it. But they might later on, you never know. Or you have a friend or family member who will.
A number of friends and family have asked to be updated on this for that very reason. If my experiences can help someone else, that will be a good thing.
I'm also very fortunate in that E is doing so much for me, assisting me in whatever I need done, personally or taking over chores.
                    And thanks for the compliment.

As for the old man/speedo, I might normally have laughed, except it was a very shocking sight which rendered me totally speechless at the time. 😆
