      Good Morning.

sassy, Ha Ha! Cats are so curious, indeed.

beth, I admire the work you are doing. You are strong and sweet.

No news here. John finished the cover for the compressor, so now I need to find him something else to do. LOL

I finished the newsletter and now have 2 yearbooks to face.

Was released from home therapy yesterday and will begin outpatient Tuesday. It is not nearly as easy 5 years down the road from the other one.

      Have a good day, Everyone.

Good SUNNY Morning! Yesterday turned into a beautiful summer day and it looks like we are to have a nice few days in a row.

Yesterday was good. Started off running some errands...banks, grocery store, and the liquor store. I've made a couple Kentucky Derby pies for the restaurant and they've provided me with the bourbon both times and I told Patrick I would invest in the bourbon myself if they were going to order it regularly. He said they would, so I finally went and bought some. I know NOTHING about bourbon, so had to ask the clerk. Once home I called Patrick and told him it was now available, and he immediately ordered a KD pie for today along with another German Choc pie. A lady from church called & ordered 9 pies for early July for a meeting. They had cheap pies that nobody liked at their last meeting and she told them about me. The one lady commented that my pies were expensive but another man said "you get what you pay for". Obviously the cheap pies were a waste of money & calories. She ordered 9 different kinds. So Aunt J we'll have to be doing grease balls in the next week or two.

I made an extra large batch of the tomato & spinach Alfredo pasta and took it along with a salad & cut up watermelon to Lori as part of our bartering for my perm. Took Blaise to the library and got myself a couple more books...I'm on a roll. Came home and started mowing. Kept taking water breaks. Dinner was each-for-his-own. I baked the two pies for Patrick before sitting down for the night. Spent the evening reading.

Just puttering around this morning. Will get the pies delivered later. Becca was going to meet us for an early lunch at the Chinese restaurant, but she could only stay for a half an hour before she'd have to leave to go back up to go to work. It would be about a 40 min drive both ways....not worth it. Not sure if Kathy's going to show up or not. It's to be a celebration of Corky's birthday & father's day. Once I get home, I have to start getting my brain in gear for tomorrow's picnic. My family is coming over late afternoon to picnic & swim. Not all the kids will be there due to work schedules.

      Have a good one all!

        Good morning everyone.

Sassy, In "my dreams" is about the closest I'll get to an exotic Island.

Bethina, that kind of patients can take away your patence.

Elaine, I never had in home therapy. Always went to outpatient, but then again, I live in town.

Cookie, make sure that bourbon goes into the pies.

I have my laundry, 3 loads, almost done, and the floors are swept, just need to dust now, and I will have a clean house again. Have been doing outside work, and let my house go. I can rest better in a clean house.

The dryer just went off, so guess I better get busy again. Everyone have a great day. To all the fathers, have a great Fathers Day tomorrow.
Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.

No worries there. I haven't had a drink in decades. Now give me a diet Dr Pepper & I'm one happy camper.

        Good morning.
Saw my doctor yesterday. He paid big attention to my bad foot. Got a new antibiotic and advice. The assistant and the cancer doc I see next week will follow up on this. He also let me completely off the iron pills and said I'll be starting periodic blood infusions in a week or two. But my tummy is feeling better already this morning without the iron. This is some of the best medical attention that I've received in quite a while.

Yesterday was 104°, and it felt hotter for some reason. Today, more like108°, then peaking at 115° tomorrow,.... I will not be going outdoors!

I doubt we will be seeing activity from family. Maybe a few calls for E, and cards will arrive today & Monday. One DD sent us small gifts a couple weeks ago. Youngest DD sent a pkg that arrived yesterday. E got some music CDs. I wondered why she sent me a book, but she marked a page with a bookmark. Years ago I was telling her about Poe stories that affected me; after which my schoolteacher introduced an obscure author with a story that was equally affecting. I couldn't remember the author or the title of his story, but described the story itself. Well, this brilliant girl has uncovered the mystery author and marked THAT story. I will also be reading the other stories in the book!!! I am still amazed at my DD!

That's my paltry news for today.

Have a good day, everyone. Happy Fathers Day to all the dads.

Jon accomplished more yesterday than he had the entire week and is up early today to make a run to the recycle place. Ball game was late last night and I think we lost but another evenly matched game. Sierra and I spent most of the game in conversation and we did look up when Andrew batted. I hope last night was the last hour drive we have to make! I missed the Cardinal - Ranger game and haven't even heard a score on that...last we checked Cards were behind so need to look it up but bet Elaine knows the score! Both kids will be here tomorrow so need to grocery shop. I am thinking steaks on the grill...Andrew is taking his grandpa out for early lunch so will be here later which works out fine. Kids will swim first and maybe Dad will join them. I should bake a cake but will end up buying one. That is some heat in Arizona! We have been hotter than blazes but I cannot imagine 116. Yesterday's cool down was perfect...cool morning and 89 afternoon. The dogs were still around at the ball park but under better control...I think these people just want to show off their dogs to each other. Last night a Husky joined the Pit Bulls and the bitty puppy. To each his own...as long as they keep their distance from me! Have a beautiful Saturday and everyone gets their chores done. I have a pile of laundry...again!

I don't want to sound like I was complaining earlier about the difficult day at the center..God has given us each a gift and a calling of some sort. Something makes us crazy happy. For me my gift is compassion for the elderly specifically the more difficult ones that are extra hard to love. My calling is anything that is related to working with the older population. My dream job would be to have a day care in my home like Paula has but mine would be for the elderly...I especially love to sit and listen to the older ones tell me stories of the good old days....

              Aloha all!

Pretty day out. Will go on my walk soon.

There are lots of people here with Alzheimer's here Kalama heights and it makes it difficult for those of us who still have our minds. A lot of people enter here are healthy then develop this horrible disease and it is sad to see them go down hill like that and they had to evict one lady because she was getting violent and injured another resident. That was sad. To me that is one of the saddest thing is to lose one's mind like that. I hope I just drop dead, but we don't really have any say on how we go to meet our maker. I have told Patty if I get dementia of any kind to move me to an assisted living or nursing home. Many many people have care givers and that of course costs a lot. It is not cheap or fun to get older like that. Bethina, you probably would do great working in a place like this I think. This is an Independent retirement place but you are not kicked out when you develop dementia unless you get violent.

Not sure I've made much sense here.

              Have a good day all!

Maxie, I was in Phoenix when they hit 122°.... June 26, 1990. I don't think anyone really gets used to it.
Guess that's why the Mexicans created siestas. Too Mucho Grande Caliente. 🌵. 😅

Checked not in to read but can't resist chatting, either!
I love the little cat in her " island retreat." Some days I squint at the pool and just focus on the water and pretend I am on a beach.
Last night it Rained! A lot! Today was beautiful and still cool.
The cornbread salad was a huge hit at the barbecue and it was worth the cost, the late trip to the store for better tomatoes and staying up past 10:00 pm to get it done.
I promise I will be back earlier tomorrow and chat more.
The highest temp here was 123* and the next two were 120... Anything above 110 feels like my skin oils are sizzling...there is such a thing as " too hot to swim."
Not many realize northern CA can reach such high temperatures. These cool days we all say, This is like being on the Coast." Like everyone says it everywhere you go!
                  See ya tomorrow!
