  • Saturday ~ 10/10 ~ National Angel Food Cake Day!

    Good Morning, Friends.

Well, been awake since the wee hours, so spending time with my iPad in bed watching TX Ranger videos and reliving the last 2 games. Fun!

Now I find my subscription to Oysterbooks is ending in January - email with no explanation. Guess I'll try to download more books before it's over.

Great weather. Clean house. Laundry in order. All is good. Cooking for today and tomorrow.

    Have a super day!!

      Morning all

Aunt Maye - yes we have a full house this weekend. BIG beach wedding happening today. Also - many have Fall school break in the next couple of weeks and we will have a full house then as well. November will slow down and then we will pick back up Dec. 1st with our Snowbirds who stay until March/April.

Paula - school for Erin is fine - she's doing okay so far. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Working today, but am off tomorrow. Guessing Chris and I will be watching our football teams in separate rooms tonight since both of them play at the same time on different networks. GO GATORS!

I'm off to do some work before I have to open the office. Y'all have a good 'un!

Good SUNNY Morning! Yesterday it rained a good bit, but now the sun is suppose to be back for the next better part of the week. Maybe it'll give me the much needed energy I need to accomplish some projects around here.

Yesterday was OK. I did get lots of cooking done. Cut off the rest of the ham I had left and made 2 pans of scalloped potatoes w/ham. It's a great way to stretch ham because it flavors the potatoes and you think you are eating more ham than you are. Also about 35 cups (I think cause my TW bowl is 42 cups) of "baked" apple sauce. Left the skins on and used brown sugar instead of white with lots of cinnamon. This is for the mission dinner. Also decided to make cottage cheese bread. We did take a break around 10am and got the moving truck returned. After I got the kitchen sort of cleaned up, I took all the supplies for today's cooking at the church there then only a local grocery store to pick up their sale items that I wanted. Got home only to find out that Kathy's 2 cats were missing & of course it was my fault....I must have left a door open. The older cat of the two eventually showed up...must have been sleeping under a bed or in closet. Missing kitties put Kathy in a foul mood. I'd tell Blaise he could go out & swing and Kathy would yell at him to go inside. Gave hugs & finally gave up the battle. We sat down to dinner & didn't Lil O jump up on the empty chair beside me. She must have napped through all the calling of her name. Dinner was a happy time then. Rewatched the first two episodes of Code Black...anyone else watching it?

This morning I'm heading to the church for a few hours to work with a group of volunteers to assemble the dinner for tomorrow at the Mission. Then come home & do who knows what. No plans yet.

        Have a good one all!

          Good morning, all.
5:30, and no sign of sunrise yet. But we will reach temps in the 90's this week. But will drop again by next weekend. Crazy weather!

Not much new happening here. Oh, the Red Cross took nearly 2 hours just to start getting platelets from E. They have new machines, which apparently aren't as efficient as they out to be. Then it takes another 2+ hours to get the platelets. He spent the rest of the afternoon at the library, and I have no doubt that he doesn't realize he was mostly napping in the comfy chair there.

I cleaned part of the fridge out yesterday.....took a bunch of soup which ended up tasting like an Italian veggie-meatball soup. That was supper. It was very good, and there are a couple of servings left for each of us. (When I throw stuff together like that, my mom used to call it Jumblia.)

Cookie, back when I had cats, I could "call" them with the electric can opener. Mostly they'd have dry food, but when we were gone the cat-sitter would feed them at 5-m sharp with a small can of wet cat food. After that, they would be sitting in the kitchen at 5 pm, and I continued giving them a bit of the wet food. Or a cat treat. They learned that the can opener preceded the wet food, so ANY time I opened cans they would appear, sitting patiently. I'd give them a treat. The thing is, they were indoor/outdoor cats, and I could count on them being home by 5 sharp (then they'd be in for the night).

Today will be a semi busy day. Yesterday I managed to make a number of calls about appointments. Paid some bills. Did some minor chores. Then read a lot.

I think I'll have coffee this morning. I need a real wake-me-upper this morning. Allergies are affecting my eyes; we've been getting winds that carry pollens and dust, and who knows what else.

I've been seeing some very tiny baby lizards around the yard and in neighbor's' driveways. They are such little cuties. Our neighbor's brother & wife moved in with her a few months ago....the brother likes to feed birds. That's a very unhealthy hobby, as birds spread various diseases, and their droppings can affect the paint on cars like an acid might. It's been noted in the newspapers. They also eat the lizards, which actually eat other garden pests. Our lizards get to know you, in a way, and I have missed those little guys racing me across the yard (me walking, them running).

Hope to see lots of posts today.
Hope to hear about Beth's new home, when she gets back from her camping trip.

          Have a great day, everyone.

            Hi Maye and everyone.

Lincare came yesterday to inspect oxygen concentrator. He is going to work with my Dr. Hopefully they will figure out something to help with this breathing. I'm ready to try about anything.

This is my day of leisure. Hang out in bed and watch old westerns. Have a good day all!

Oh, you don't need any rain, hrh! Sorry about that...
I got up at the regular work day time. So the watering and the laundry and the cleaning are done. All except the daycare floors and I will do them later.
Shopping in Redding this morning and then the grocery and baking this afternoon. I am making the meatloaf Donna and Pat were talking about for tomorrow. But making it up today.
I had a very bad text message from a friend who was so upset she said she couldn't talk but wanted to let me know her pregnant daughter had taken abut 40 pain meds (a name I had never heard). She is in the hospital and my friend is just distraught. Her daughter rhas had problems with prescription drugs but she thought with the pregnancy the daughter would take better care of herself. It is just so awful the hold that drugs can get on a life. At least in the hospital she will be observed and tested and maybe something can be done...not sure what. jIt lhas to start with the person wanting a different life. Sorry for the downer post, it is just so heartbreaking.
Donna, I forgot I wanted to watch Code Black. I will have to see if I can watch the first two episodes online and then catch up. I started watching Quantico, but it is way too unbelievable...that so many things could slip through the cracks of FBI investigation is too much to overlook. After two episodes I quit.
Maye, the old, throw out books: are they music or lessons? Any thing that crafters would like for projects? I usually copy music and then "age" the paper with tea to use in craft or card projects.
I am off now to make the final grocery list and (my least favorite chore) go clean the cat box.
Hope your chores are either all done or not so unpleasant!
                Have a great day!

Sunny and cool. Drew and I are up but the painter guy is still in bed. Guess we are not going to get an early start. Have the makins for chili out and Drew was promised roasted marshmellows tonight. Cardinals won yesterday! Yay!!! Those young players made the difference. Hope it last throughout the series. Late afternoon game today. The light indicator light is on in my car so guess I will take another trip home to the dealer Monday. I don't know if that is dangerous or not and reading the manual told me nothing or at least nothing that I understood...no I think it told me nothing. Andrew came home from school selling yet another thing...magazines. I thought magazines were going obsolete? With the state cutting short the school funding the schools have turned kids into selling machines and I hate it. I also HATE that they motivate these kids with junky prizes. Every parent and grandparent in this school district must be yelling ' enough already'!! But the schools have to compensate for the state short changing them. Can you imagine shorting the education budget and then just plain not sending all the money allocated out? These kids are the future and it is looking pretty darn bleak thank you very much state of Illinois. Guess I will be buying a magazine...whoopee.

Good morning, all. Still sunny and warm and DRY here. Please swap me some of your excess rain and I will send you sunshine. High of 91º yesterday.

I went to the laundry room to cut out my dress. I would have used the community room but some of the ladies have a Pinochle game there and I didn't want to disturb them. I nearly roasted in there because of the clothes dryers. At least it is cut out so today I will pin-baste it so I can see what I have to do to it so it will fit properly. I have never gone 12 years without sewing so I feel a little rusty and am taking it very carefully for now.

Maye, I found a box full of piano music at the house and since I don't play piano, we put it on Freecycle. and the very next day a lady called for it as her 3 children were all taking lessons and it would give them something new to play.
I wanted to take piano lessons but my dad was not fond of Piano.
Wished piano salesman would have come around.
Dad could always tell us no but I don't think I ever knew of him turning away a door to door salesman. I did take steel guitar lessons thanks to a salesman. I'll Bet I could still play Down in the Valley and Up a Lazy River since we were taught those two pieces only. I finally quit.

That's all folks Back is giving out. Have a good one.

                      Aloha all!

Yes, Maye, it is a sunny day here today and I can see a piece of the blue blue ocean right here from my computer through the trees

Sorry about more rain, HR. Seems to be lots of rain everywhere except those places who desperately need it.

Jo, we have little Geckos everywhere here in Hawaii. Cute little things but they can be messy if they get in the house. Leave their little deposits everywhere. But they eat LOTs of bugs. We had lots of lizards in Arizona too but different kinds then here.

No special plans for today. Will putter around. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~to all and have a good day.

                        RAIN!!!

It has ben a really LONG day already and I have not done anything constructive. At 9:15am, I was awakened by my phone ringing. It took e a while to be able to see who called. It was a friend calling about our Chocolate Festival that had been rescheduled for today, but we are having thunderstorms. It will go rain or shine today, but I think most people will stay home. I am bumed becase I didn't go out yesterday.

You guys are so busy and getting stuff done. I need your energy!

I was able to read between the lines and need to go back and read the whole post as I can now see them. It takes a while for the blurriness to clear up enough to be able to read. I went to the opthamologist on Tuesday and he gave me a new prescription for glasses and told me I didn't need to get it filled unless I wanted to because the blurriness would not go away and there was significant loss of vision since the last visit a few months ago. I see the retina specialist on Thursday and will find out if he will continue the eye injections. I doubt that he will, but maybe??????!!!!

I wish there were some really good suggestions for Donna and Kathy that would make everything better! I hate that things are still rocky.

I will pray that Paula's friend's daughter will be ok and the baby will not be harmed. YES, drugs are sooooo terrible when misused. It is even worse when depression, etc. are part of the equation.

Maye - you can come and do my laundry and clean my apartment. You can also help me clean out my closets and stuff.

I missed a call from my son's attorney and didn't realize it until this morning. He called o Thursday and I didn't check to see if I had any voicemails. Don's sentencing hearing is set for 10 November at 9:30am. I will have to call the attorney on Monday and find out where it will be held. I know that Don will not be happy with the sentence. Prayers will be gratefully accepted!

Have a great day and be safe and dry!

I think you're right....after all our time together, we've become "sisters". That's what keeps us coming back. (ARM's our brother, then!) And I think a finer family would be hard to find.
I enjoy each and every one of you.

I thought I had enough of sisters with 4 of them (all older than me, yes I was the baby of the family). Only the oldest is still alive and she is in a nursing home at the age of 100 yo. Wonder if I will make that although I have plans on it.
