  • January 07, 2015 Wednesday Hump Day

I did it, I planted my potatoes yesterday. We bought a whole bag at the grocery, the Rose Yukons, and they had good eyes on them. I just cut them into pieces and dug a trench and threw them in and covered it with soil, uh, I mean sand. Then I watered them in good. Maybe we will have some good potatoes to store for summer/fall. My next venture will be to buy some potting soil so I can plant a big pot of lettuce. I already have 2 pots of lettuce, but DH needs to eat it every day and you can't have too much lettuce as far as I'm concerned.

JoGee, I ate too many chocolates and sweet treats during the holidays also and now I have to get that fat off. I'm going lean and green, (meat & salads) to get that off my body. Why oh why did I purchase those delicious chocolates. I was weak!

I got a bunch of the bookmarks made and they are adorable. I made birds, flowers, bookworms, frogs, & lots of hearts. They turned out so well and if they sell I'll be going big on those. Easy, peasy.

Maye I sure hope you are feeling better. Stay in bed, stay warm, drink plenty of Vitamin water or Gatorade so you don't get dehydrated and have your DH to wait on you hand and foot.

    Good Morning.

I won't talk about what I ate during the holidays. I've put it out of my mind.

32 here again this morning. But must get to the market for a few items.

Don't have a thing of interest to discuss. Just staying in and keeping the home fires going.

    Have a good day, Everyone.

My pastor put this beautiful blurb in our parish bulletin for Sunday, 11 January 2015. It is bass-ackwards! I should be thanking Father Wilson and the parish! But it sure has made my head swell!!

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Our parish’s volunteers are wonderful, offering their time so selflessly in many ways. I would like to thank especially one of our volunteers, Valerie Cadarr, who recently retired from volunteering at the parish office on December 31 due to health. If you have called or come by the office in the last nine and a half years, you have likely been greeted and helped by Val. She has arranged Mass intentions, written the Intercessions for Mass, helped direct your calls and so much more. Thank you, Val, for your years of dedicated, faithful, and loving service to the people of St. Mary’s!

      Yours in Christ,

      Father Wilson

With retirement from a ministry I dearly love, and experiencing the newness of being legally blind, I ask for your continued prayers. I have been legally grounded and cannot drive. I am waiting to see the opthamologist at the end of this month before officially surrendering my driver's license, but there is little room to hope that my vision will go from 20/100 to 20/70; or, that the blurred vision will go away. I have an appointment with the retina specialist on Thursday (tomorrow) and he will make the decision to either continue or discontinue the injections of Avastin in the right eye. I ask you to pray that I will have the courage and perseverance to accept whatever will be and to not lose faith.

I have had a chaotic few days, including a trip to the ER on Monday. I was having severe pain in the hip that I had replaced in May. The x-rays showed nothing. but more arthritis and the surgeon wasn't concerned when he saw them. So, I will just wait until I see him on the 16th of this month. They gave me Persoset in the ER and when I got home, I was VERY dizzy and nauseated. I have NEVER had an adverse reaction to pain meds before.

I am going to lunch with a friend today. I hope I can get her to take me to Publix to get my meds and a few groceries. Being grounded sucks!

It is supposed to be really cold today and tomorrow. With the wind-chill factor, they say it will be 5 degrees in the morning! Brrrrrr At least it will warm up for the weekend (I hope!!!)

      Have a great day everyone!!

Good morning all. Above freezing again today. Nice. Back is doing OK so far but I just got up. (Crossing fingers.)
No big plans for the day. Joyce said that she would come and help clean up the apartment today but we shall see. She has so many bad days and poor dear has thrush in her mouth and throat soooooo bad. I think it has even gone into her tear ducts as the corners of her eyes are red. She said she can barely drink water.
Dr. is sending her to a specialist. Hope she doesn't have to wait too long.

No Lily yaps again this morning.

You all have a good one.

          Good morning.
It's 59° degrees out right now, going to the mid-70's today, for a bit, and windy.. Tomorrow is supposed to drop to a 65° high with a chance of rain. Then it's supposed to stay in the 60's. I haven't been outside for a few days, except to toss coffee grounds under the trees and in the garden. It's supposed to benefit the soil.
Today, though, I'd like to take a shower and actually go somewhere. Somewhere where a bathroom might be handy. I'm still having the problem - D - but some days are worse than others. I never know what to expect.

I made raspberry muffins yesterday. (Jiffy mix). Not homemade, but quite good. I will have one with a yogurt for breakfast today. E will have his cereal.
Karlinann, that's pretty much what I did. That's what the holidays are for, right? E showed me a picture of a heart shaped candy box, but there were sliced fruits inside instead of chocolates. Yeah, I shoulda done that instead of goodies, I guess.

Hi Punkin. That was a beautiful tribute from your priest. You deserve it.
Barb, I hope you're doing better, and will be pain free.

Nothing else from here worth mentioning.
          Have a great day, everyone.

              Morning all

99% done moving! Power will be cut off at the old house today.

Had a VERY productive meeting with Erin's guidance counselor yesterday! Things are looking WAY up!

Just wanted to share a pic of Erin playing the electronic drum set in the local music store - we had gone to buy her a new pair of concert drumsticks for school and the sales guy told her to try it out. By the time she finished jamming, she had quite a crowd gathered around watching

The only person you should try to be better than is the person you were yesterday.

                Good morning from my house!
Val, that is such a nice tribute. Appreciation is everything in my book!
Not much here, either. The afternoon temps got up to 66 yesterday, so who can complain about a chilly morning? Makes the flannel sheets feel good to sleep.
I will be shopping after daycare for the shelter dinner this Friday. We decided to make a chicken casserole. I think mine will be with noodles. It is so hard to get enough rice all done at the same time...A friend is making her delicious rolls and we will add salad, too. I may make another Texas sheet cake.
Have a good day. This week is going by quickly!

                  Awesome picture of Erin!

6* this morning with wind chills at -15 to -20 and temps not going any where but down to below 0 this afternoon. I see where there is a dusting of snow also and school has been called for the cold. The communities around here all have long bus routes and keeping the kids home and warm should be a priority. The way some of those poor kids are dressed when they walk by here just makes me shutter. I was due for a haircut the week of Christmas and have still not gotten in...today is the day and no amount of cold will keep me from getting it! My hands are sore this morning...no matter how warm it is in the house the body knows it is cold outside and reacts. Nothing to talk about here but the cold. Karlin is planting a garden and some of us are dripping ice cycles! Stay warm and healthy..

Bethina, sounds like vertigo to me. It usually accompanies a sinus infection. Feel better.
