  • REC: Blonde Brownies

I make mine in a little smaller pan and bake them a little longer as we like them thicker and a little gooey in the middle.
    Blonde Brownies
    2/3 cup butter, softened
1 lb. box light brown sugar
    3 large eggs
    2-2/3 cup all-purpose flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
1 cup coarsely chopped pecans or walnuts
1 (12 oz.) pkg. semisweet chocolate chips
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Add eggs; beat well. Add dry ingredients and stir until combined. Fold in nuts and chips. Pour into a greased 13-x9-x2-inch pan. Bake at 350° F. for 30 to 35 minutes.

I love the one I used to order at Applebee's and will make this...and share with someone. Sounds great!

OK...question Miss Culinary grad....what constitutes a brownie? To me if it's not chocolate, it's not a brownie.

Good question, Donna. I've wondered the same thing. You see all sorts of "brownie" recipes now - even lemon.
