  • What would you do??

I was invited to have Christmas dinner with a friend of mine and her husband (whom I have never met.) I truly would much rather stay at home, relax, put on my PJ's and watch TV. I am not in the mood to socialize on Christmas Day. I have made my decision, but I would like to know what would you do?

Pumkin,You know...I would go....I would do it for your friend....If you do not go..Your friend will be upset..If you do not show up..
I know you like to stay home..I would like to do that too....And show your friend that you cherish her friendship..

I promised to tell you what my decision was. I did decline the invitation. She was very kind, generous and understanding. She also made it an open-ended invitation so that, if I change my mind on Christmas Day, all I need to do is call her and she will come pick me up and bring me to dinner. She knows what has been going on in my life and I appreciate her friendship more than she will ever know.

She really IS a true friend. And she is a friend all year long, not just at Christmastime. She is always there for me. Many people don't realize that people are lonely, hungry, needing help, etc. all year long. But for 11 months of the year they are ignored. I truly wish that the spirit of Christmas would last all year long. Kindness, generosity, caring and loving shouldn't be restricted to the Christmas season. Just saying.

Punkin, you are fortunate to have such a good friend. a TRUE friend.
I think you are wise to understand how you are feeling and go with what you feel is best for you. I love that she has kept the invitation open so if you get up and have the desire to go, you can!

I was thinking today about people only thinking of others during this time of year. Caring should be a year round thing.
It would be nice to have a 'weekly caring day' club and do things for those who need a pick me up.
