  • June 2nd Come on in......

Good Morning! It's a sunny one here & I'm lovin' it!

Yesterday I went with my Bible study group plus some to a museum at the Pgh Theological College. It was very interesting. We went from there to Applebees for lunch. Well my lunch almost turned into supper. Everyone else was almost done before Dennis & my plates came out. Got home about a half hour before Blaise came home.

My SIL called before I left yesterday wondering if I had time & the desire to make a graduation cake for tonight. So once I got my energy back yesterday, I baked & decorated a cake for my niece. The official cake & party will be in a couple weeks, but today is graduation. Took Blaise to swim practice. Had a nice chat with several of the parents. Makes the time go faster.

Cork came home yesterday & his boss said he was killing him. Corky has leftover vacation time & HAD to be used. They are swamped right now & Cork said he'd be willing to just be paid for the time off w/o taking the time off.....no go. So today starts a week's vacation. Which worked out great because my Mom decided she couldn't go to Monroville with my today.

This morning I have my final check with the surgeon who removed my thyroid. Told Cork we could go garage saling afterwards, so he agreed. I have cookie dough that still needs baked off, so I may do that this afternoon. We'll see. I'll probably go down to my brother's after swim practice to celebrate Maddy's graduation with them and have some cake.

    Have a good one all!

Good Morning, good morning to all you wonderful people here...life is sweeter because you are in it!!

Yesterday was a busy, busy day after I finished my infusion, hubby had done some of the shopping for me but that is sometimes not a good thing, I wanted either a 2 inch or 3 inch. prefer 2 inch memory foam mattress to add to our bed in motorhome just because my hip bones and other bones need something softer to lay on, well he bought a 4 inch mattress because it was only a little bit more expensive than the 3 inch, well didn't have the heart to tell him that was just too much height to add in a motorhome and it makes it so much more difficult to make the bed, have the sheets fit etc. well it took two of us to make the bed and he says, "maybe you shouldn't have added a mattress to this bed"!! I just agreed he didn't see it so why point it out..

We went to 3 different grocery stores looking for pork butt to smoke today for the family reunion tomorrow, we finally went to a meat market and bought it which we should have done in the first place...so today we will be smoking the pork butt, it was so big I cut it into three different roasts....will use them later...Now today I need to go to the store to buy what I need to make the smoked mac & cheese and a dessert...so another busy day here...

JOSTOY (jo's toy) when do you leave for FL? And do you have a surgery date yet? I am getting old and forgetful need to write it on my calendar...

Well time to go round up something for breakfast, already 'rounded' up the trash for trash day today....Loving this perfect weather, nice to be outside when it isn't so hot and miserable...Have a good day one and all.
Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

Go to Fl. the last week of this month. As to surgery date...he will call me. Just hoping I get the call next week or after I get back from Fl. Anytime later than next week will be pushing it too much for recovery to go to Fl.

Good morning. Sunny is shining but the air is cool. Went to grand daughter's ball game last night, she made some great plays.
Didn't have a momsitter yesterday so don't know if I'll have one today or not. I'm getting around okay and fix myself food. None of them are far away if I need anything, so I should be okay. Ellen calls on her break to make sure I answer, Larry wants to check into the emergency buttons.
We'll I've hit the reply thing twice while trying to type this, so better stop.
      Have a great day everyone

        Good Morning!

Have been locked out again, but all seems ok today ????

Been so busy but can't think now why. Holiday on Monday with company. Doctor on Tuesday - sent to hospital for type and cross. Transfusion on Wednesday. What a week!

At least today I can find time to get my hair worked on.

Hope you each have a good day.

Morning! Up early because I have to grocery shop so I can finish off tonight's supper. Jon stuck a turkey breast in the crock pot last night so I am making a turkey dinner. I think Sierra is off today but who knows where she will be. Need to come up with a lunch he can grill on Monday. Jon has a dear retired friend who said she would come down a couple of times to check the inside of the house while we are gone and she needs a key since we changed the locks last summer. We will have the two neighbor twins pick up the mail and water the potted plants. Last night I was laying in bed reading when this clunking comes down the hall...Jon had dug out the suitcases and looked like a bellhop as he dropped them off at bedroom doors. Guess we are getting close to vacation! We leave a week from tomorrow and I have a pile accumulated. Sierra said yesterday she thinks she can take the two scheduled quizzes early enough to not worry about them on vacation although she will take her computer to keep on top of things. Did I mention mommy dearest called Jon to make sure things were going ok...like she couldn't handle being a mother so we are suppose to not handle it too? He said she actually sounded like she was singing 'so, how's it going?' like she has stuck us with something. It is going surprisingly well although I have to say the girl is rather gabby at midnight when she comes in most night. Yes, I am waiting up...thought those days were over, but I read or watch tv and sometimes have taken a little nap early to get me through but I am always awake when she comes in. I am a little distressed about pulling out of the climate accord...seems very short sighted to me. Aside from whatever the reason, there is global warming and there is a great economic factor we have just thrown away not to mention we are no longer going to be a world leader in anything but scandal. My two cents but you all know where I stand politically......enjoy the sun and my turkey is smelling mighty good.

        Good morning, everyone.
I've been up for a couple of hours. Started tossing and turning about 4 a.m. ....I see a nap will be needed today.
Temps are still in the 90's. According to the forecasts, Sunday will start a week of triple digit temps.

Yesterday we both were checked for glasses. The doc has new prescriptions for us both. So, in 7-10 days we'll be called to get our new glasses. Oh i wore a muumuu that's cut more like a shift dress, and those new wild-patterned compression hose. The colors went together beautifully, with similar floral patterns. Got a lot of compliments on the outfit. Actually, I felt silly and a bit out of my comfort zone, but everyone sounded sincere in their compliments.

Anyway, afterwards we went to lunch. Thought we'd go to Mimi's Cafe and give them a try. A few years ago there was a problem getting clean dishes, cups, glasses, and silverware. But they're under new management, and the place is sparkling bright. But the chefs must have graduated at the bottommost of their class. My quiche was bland, but edible.
They never refilled the tiny hot water teapot that holds maybe a mere 5 oz. The muffin that was supposed to come with the meal didn't arrive til we were paying the bill. E had a Reuben sandwich....he could eat the middle portion because the filling was juicy. The crust couldn't be bitten or cut with a knife. He showed the manager. Also, the tomato bisque soup had a hot spice, maybe tobacco sauce, in it... too hot to eat. She gave no compensation for the bad food/service. E took a customer comment card to send in the bad report. Plus, they are off our list of restaurants forever, now.

I'm going to put my books aside today, and try to get more things done. Don't know what E has in mind for today.

Sharon....sheets for the bed: go online and look for "deep pocket" or "extra deep pocket" sheets. (I don't often see them in stores, but you can call and see if they might carry them.). I like them because even if the sheets shrink a little when washed, they stay on the bed a lot better without resorting to the sheet clips sold to keep them in place at the corners.

To all, have a great day. ☀️

          Good beautiful morning, folks!
last night's David Archuleta concert was really good. Not as well attended due to high school graduation. He talked about that and thanked people for coming even with the NBA finals. He said his pianist was keeping tabs on the game and someone called out, don't tell us, please! big laugh and it was just that kind of relaxed, involved audience and concert. He never took a break. His band members took a few backstage moments when he would go to the piano and play and sing, but David never stopped, the whole 2 hours!
That said, I am tired this morning and taking it easy. With yesterday being the last day of school and the concert, I had a false sense of it feeling like Friday.
As I woke up I was thinking, What am I feeding these kids?! got it figured out and I won't need to call for pizza, which was going to be my back-up plan. Not something the food police would ok, if they showed up (which they never do on a Friday Or the first week of the month...until you count on that.)
so, one daycare mom told me her child will most likely not be here after the summer...and they were going to Grandma's for the summer, anyway...I took her on last year with reservations of this very thing...they had never had daycare because the grandma watched her; so they never had to pay for daycare. then the grandparents moved and they needed care and didn't want to pay for teacher vacations, etc. I told them they had to. But I was wondering how the summer would work out, and figured I would have enough school kids to cover this one...now, after I have told Countless parents I don't have any openings, I will have an opening., I can keep the part time toddler or... pretty sure I will just tell the 3 day a week toddler they can have the 5 day spot. Sometimes it is easier to cut your losses than go through all the interviewing, selling and breaking in a new kjparent (which I guess I didn't do very well this time.)
I just try to get out with my reputation intact!
so, onward and upward. which means I am actually finding I can donate more than I thought I could. Glassware we got as wedding gifts (been in storage forever), fireplace screen (Becky has asthma and we don't have fires), dolls that Becky had and she just said, Take a picture of it and put it in a box!
That is one of the hardest things I have had to do. I know it sounds crazy, but until that box is out of here, I am not looking at it. I don't want to go see that doll's face. And we have American girl dolls that I can't donate, yet. My SIL in MN is the same way. My brother was joking the family needs to have an intervention so Beth and I can let go of the American Girl dolls our daughter's had.
I better go. Your cooking plans all sound good. I have to bake or make for a graduation party on Monday evening. That is the kind I really like. Bake and Take. Less eating on my part.
          Enjoy your day!

Good morning, all. Up early this morning as usual. Had a visit with the back specialist on Tuesday. He is planning to do a Radiofrequency Neurotomy Ablation. Isn't that a mouthful?
Previous Dr. didn't communicate well so I'm not sure that was what I had before.

Just puttering most days. Manger showed up at my door with a power chair. I had asked him about repairs for one that my niece had offered but he thought it was too expensive to fix. These chairs get passed around as people trade up or move on. Nice. As soon as I can handle it better I will be able to go into town. It gets very steep going in one section. Hate having to depend on others to get me a 1/2 gallon of milk.
Billy and Cheryl whiz around on their chairs but I'm not ready for whizzing.

Guess that's about it from this part of very hot and Sunny CA.

              Good afternoon.

Just finished washing all of my windows. Amazing how much better things look without looking through water spots,

Had a dental appt. this morning and then needed a few things from Wally World and the grocery store. Therefore, there wasn't an early start of my work.

Hope everyone has had a good day.
Life is to be enjoyed, not just endured.
