  • Good morning Thursday 9/8

    Good morning...work will probably be busy so it will go fast...today I am going as a butterfly...they are requiring those of us that work on the floor during hours that the store is open dress up most days between now and halloween....I usually just grab a hat off the halloween display...today I am going in full costume..please see my other post...

    Today we are rearranging the store I think..pulling a lot of stuff for recycling...coming home after work I think that I did all the errands I needed to do yesterday until after pay day which is tomarrow...I am going back to the store after work to shop with my friend from my volunteer site then she and I may or may not have supper not sure ...

    Monday will be another big spending day.. Cori needs dry cat food..and I need to pick up a 25.00 gift card to the pet store for my youngest niece for her birthday next week....I couldn't figure out anything else so I getting her a gift card that she can use to get things for her various pets...a cat and a snake right now...and she maybe getting a fish for her birthday not sure.

    Good Morning my cyber friends....nice breeze blowing outside but very humid, another hot day in store for us...I dislike the humidity, makes it hard to breath outside...hubby plugged in the motorhome so the fridge could get cold, and also turned the AC on so that it would be comfortable for me to work in today, bless his heart... Will be packing and getting ready to head down the road in the morning, we want to get an early start. My sister will be 70 the end of this month so I want to surprise her with a birthday cake since I can't be there on her birthday...

    Paula, it takes a special person to be able to spend each day with little ones, I am not that person, so I admire you for that...and all the love and concern you have for others...

    Maxie, your post brighten my day, love your perspective on things, been there, done that, and sometimes still do, life after divorces can be so much fun, NOT!!!

    Donna, what is the recipe you use for your fruit pies? Have you ever used peaches that you have frozen with a syrup? Thought maybe you could freeze some. Do you use the same recipe for all your fruit pies? Making other pies since the fruit season is almost over except for apple is a good idea, PB pie seems to be a favorite of a lot of people...

    Janet in all these years of knowing you I have never seen or heard of anything that has taken you down as much as these shingles have, I pray for you dear friend, and hope the days get better for you, being in pain brings a person down mentally and physically, I know it sure does me...that is why when I am not in pain I can be so much more cheerful, LOL...
    Hope Darla is settling in her new surroundings.

    Sassygirl, what kind of winter projects do you have lined up?

    JoG, you have so many health issues I can't keep track, but I hope that your days are getting better...do you know when the temp colostomy will be reversed? Hopefully you have healed...

    Bethina sounds like so much fun each day dressing up for Halloween season.

    Happy Birthday to Pat...

    See jostoy when she returns...

    BarbCA how are things with you?

    Nalani, hope all those nasty storms missed you.

    Where are you this morning Elaine? Hope you and John are okay.

    Well I must get this day started, have gotten older and slower, so I must allow myself more time... Have a great day and stay safe...
    Live simply, love generously, care deeply, speak kindly, and leave the rest to God

      Good Morning.

      I'm around, Sharon. Wanted to get my trash collected and laundry started first thing.

      John is OK. His blood work Monday was the same as last week, so nothing is falling. Yesterday he replaced a tile on the concrete step. Big job, but he was able to hand it, so I am thankful everyday that he still does what he wants. Slow but steady.

      We are watching 9p ballgames, which means 1a before we hit the sheets. We aren't as perky in the morning. The Mariners whopped up on us last night - grand slam in the first inning we couldn't recover from.

      Well, John wants pancakes, and that's my job, so better get going.

      Today I am cleaning out the top of a closet that holds gift bags and more gift bags. Hope to eliminate them all.

      Have a good day.

        Good SUNNY Morning all!!!! Yes, it's very humid here too.

        Yesterday was good. My head was clear for the most part and I just plugged along. Sue was here and she filled my freezer back up with pie shells & tops. She is a HUGE blessing. My stress level is way down. I baked 2 kinds of cookies in the morning. Sue declared the german choc cookie her new favorite. I made some pie fillings before starting to bake for today. I only made 6 pies for the stand today. After I had it all done & cleaned up, Lew called & ask if I could make two gluten free pies with very little sugar in the fillings. SURE!!! What an idiot I was. The fillings didn't turn out as nice as usual because the sugar makes the creamy part of the filling. Then the pie "dough" is very sticky and doesn't roll nice. The pies look very nice, but next time I'll charge a little more. I only charged $2 more per pie, but that ended up not covering the cost of the special flour. Live & learn.

        Sharon....last year I froze peaches & had all kinds of fruits that completely filled my one huge upright freezer and I had almost all of it left when I started this baking season. I won't freeze anymore peaches. They'll just have to enjoy them during the season. I can get almost all the other fruit at the bakery warehouse that I go to.

        This morning I decided I must find my bedroom. Changed the sheets and folded & put away all the clean clothes. I've just been too busy in the kitchen this past week and too pooped by days end. I didn't get my day off last week when I normally catch up on everything. I'm going to deliver the pies then head down to the bakery supply place and pick up some more berries and shortening. I'm meeting Sue along the way because her son keeps giving her brown eggs, and she can't use them all and she knows I go through dozens each week. She also picked me up 20lbs of walnuts that are on sale at her local grocery store for $2.99/lb. Then it's home to bake about 20 pies for tomorrow's orders & stand. My poor family is sure suffering my lack of energy when it comes to dinner. I told them this will end soon and I'll be back to my old self.

        Have a good one all!

          Good Morning, looks like it may start raining here. Told Charlotte her animals are out to get me. She has a goose that likes to attack if you turn your back on it. Took a bag of trash out this morning, watching the stupid goose and one of the silly dogs kept stopping in front of me. Little hard to walk while watching both in front and back. I think the geese may have paid the dog since I usually threaten them when I go out "If you bite me I'm gonna knock your head off"

            Porch progress? RAIN! Can you believe it? Will rain today and tomorrow and the porch deck is half replaced. They ran into a few problems yesterday that took time like the darn porch was not anchored to the house...carpenter could not believe it. Oh well, isn't it fun when you remodel a old house? Today I have a haircut and Jon has his final doctor's visit after his surgery so there is plenty to do. Going to make something pasta-y with the left over sauce and I am out of asiago so need to stop at my little home town grocery when I get the haircut. I did pretty much nothing yesterday...we used more energy trying to decide where to eat last night. Ended up at Steak and Shake which was my choice...got my cheeseburger! Yesterday was our last hot day this week and it was nice! Boys swam after we ate and then used the power washer on the back concrete until dark. I like early dismissals from school, leaves more daylight time and it is getting dark so much earlier. Need to order baseball tickets today but my printer is not taking commands from my computer so will Have Sierra do them from her's. She wants to go to Blue's night (as in hockey) at the ballgame. Cardinals have not had an exactly stellar season but still may make the playoffs and we all know where I am during hockey season. The road construction is going to block my way to the grocery stores so need to find another route. All this construction is not progress but a big fat headache. Need to make a grocery list of things I will need for my sister's visit Saturday with her grankids...Saturday is balloon glow day and I'm going to eat from a food truck for the first time in my life. Boy did I make a bad cup of coffee this morning and I hear Jon talking with the carpenter...he is out in the rain...what a guy! Hope he doesn't want to hook up his saw in my living room to get it out of the rain...you think I jest but you have no idea the things my son has tried. When Jon was younger he had a huge fish tank upstairs and I turned around to see the hose going up the stairs and into his bedroom. He was cleaning the tank and had already drained the water out his bedroom window and down the roof. Enterprising? his dad and I shook our heads and walked off on many occasions. Well, gotta go start my day. Enjoy that sunshine cuz the rain is coming..

              Morning all

              I'm thinking of Tinker today as we shared a birthday. Miss her wit and wisdom.

              I'm working today - only because we are having CAKE! LOL

              I'm off the next 3 days, but no one to play with, so I'll prob end up on the couch watching the rest of Mad Men on Netflix.

              Y'all have a good 'un!

                Happy Birthday Pat! Someone sent a beautiful picture of Mindy and Tinker this morning. Bet you will never guess where it was taken? Hope you have a wonderful day and many more birthdays to come...

              $2.99 a pound???!!! Unheard of, even around here where tons are grown...unless, they are in the shell. I am waiting for this year's crop which will be harvested soon.
              This morning the skies are much clearer and no smoke in the air.
              Sharon, thanks for the kind words. " words of affirmation" keep me going. 😊
              Today is my DIL's birthday as well as Pat's. Hope the East Coast and Gulf Coast both have good weather for them and all of you.
              Guess what?! Last night's class is Tonight! I went with the date my friend said, so I had a dry run to get there and will be back tonight for the Actual class! I am sure I gave the shop girls a smile as I sat in my seat...luckily, only about 30 seconds before we all realized something was off!
              Hope everything goes well for you all.

                Good morning, everyone.
                I really slept in this morning, but that probably made up for being up at 2a.m. for about an hour.
                It's a lovely sunny 73° right now, expecting to go to 84° today. Nice! 🌵

                Beth, your store has an unusual policy with the pre-Halloween costume ideas. Have fun!

                Boffler, I certainly don't wish to have so many things go wrong on me. Sometimes I can't keep up with the problems. I would like to have a reasonably simple life for my "golden years"......where you see a doc just once a year. I've got more than my share, I think. I will be talking to the Colostomy doctor on Monday, and see how things will go. Tomorrow I see the Oncologist about the blood condition and biopsy results, and find out how that will affect the surgery. We'll see! 👀

                Elaine, I should help you with that closet if you don't need those gift bags!

                Cookie, I hope you find time to give yourself breaks. You're baking so much this year---all those pairs, in particular.
                But Thanksgiving and Christmas are right around the corner. You'll be buried in cookie orders and probably pie orders, too.

                Maxie, you may put aside chores, but I love hearing about the interaction you have with family.

                Happy Day, Pat. May you sparkle all day. Cake sounds so good right now!

                Paula, after watching kids all day, I'm surprised you have the energy for classes. Good for you, though.

                No plans for me today, unless I feel up to grocery shopping with E.

                Hope you all have a happy-snappy day. 🤗
                ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                Create a beautiful day wherever you go.
                  It is the best kind: sit and watch an expert floral artist put together centerpieces, wreaths, and all kinds of holiday decorations. I know I said I don't need any new items, but when I was there for just that little bit last night I saw a figurine of a child dressed for winter...will go great with a piece I bought last year of an old man dressed for winter carrying an evergreen. ( oh, the lengths I will go not to distress anyone with the c word!)
                  good evening .
                  Sharon. you are so right. I have never felt this worn out, exhausted ,this emotionally drained before... when I had pneumonia.it took a while to get all energy back but Shingles has done all that and has PAIN attached... it follows a different nerve each day. today it is right up the middle of my back... however I have never been this old before.. could be a factor.. .. (maybe I will be kinder when DAvids back pain is bad now ).
                  You all must be praying because it is letting up somewhat.. don't need so many tylenol. .see the Dr tomorrow. and see what sunshiny remarks she will make.. I like my dear lady Dr.. but truthfully she really hasn't done much but order and read test results. makes no major decisions , just sends me to a " specialist".. i am being grumpy!.. she may be doing more than I realize ... thanks to ALL of your for your prayers.. and wonderful thoughts...
                  It makes me feel good to come in this time of day and read your posts..
                  Pat . Happy Birthday and thanks for reminding me of Tinker .. and others of our board that have passed ..Thanks to their work , we are still here..
                  Beth, Cute Idea..butterfly.~~~~~~~~~~ at you all. chair setting time.
                  Take it one Day , one step, at a time.. cause that's all we really have.
